Yeh - cool, well chuffed, looking forward to it.. Bit scared that I was 30/32 in qualifying, but hopefuly getter a better balance in the setup (between wear and time) and being a bit less nervy, hopefully I can move up a place or 2 in quali in future..

Should be a great race with things being so close and a good calibre of driver throughout the field..

👍

I get that quite alot, just quit game and retry.. My disc is 100% clean, zero scratches, it's perfect (made a real effort to keep it mint), but PS3 is 5 1/2 years old 40gb fatboy.. Make sure your disc is 100% no scratches or imperfections?

GT5 normally loads up a 2nd time after gettting stuck once..

I find letting the PS3 "warm up" and filling up the firends list first, then starting game helps to reduce it a bit. If I start game as soon as I switch it on and friend's list still loading, that seems to cause more black screens upon loading, on average.

Cheers, I will give it a try.

Hopefully we have a good battle at the back.

And I have a 40gig fatboy also...I have the same issue with starting the game. Baby steps. Gotta let everything load before starting the game.

Sorry. Didn't have time to report in ealirendur's time [1:38.188] till I got to work (on my phone now). Rightfully also added in Paul's.

Right now I'm thinking Wiifreak and Mule keep trying to qualify, even past deadline since they can't even practice. So you've both got up to an hour before greenflag time gentlemen. I really hope you can get in.

@ litchi wiifreak has a little longer to post a time. It could change the divisions.

Seems fair :).

In general, I think we should keep the dead line always.
If we had 15 drivers a late Q would'nt be the end of the world.
But now, when a late Q can/will push a guy who did Q on time, but ended up as driver 16 or 32, either to drop one division, or not beeing able to race at all.

I understand that it can be trouble for individuals from time to time with PSN or what not, but when we are so many drivers signed up, we need to be strict with quali dead lines.
If PSN is down, and no one can quali, that's another story.
If it's a matter of PSN beeing down in a specific region (perhaps that's the case in this case), a late Q should be allowed.

Not trying to bash on WiiFreak, I'm just saying.. 👍

Late Q's were always allowed though, so wouldn't it become a question of what penalty to add?

Something like that, yeah.
But if it's because of a PSN maintenance, a late Q should be allowed without a penalty.

Being someone at the back, I can agree and disagree. But overall I think there should be a strict deadline. Sorry to wiifreak.

Nobody actually ever said why we need all Q's finished any more than 2 hours before the race though...
Idk, we have our new 2 hours before the race cancellation rule, and a Q deadline at the same time makes sense to me.

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing, just thinking out loud.

I don't even think I'm going to be able to qualy/race anyways. The servers are still giving me the same trouble as they did yesterday.

I have just had the same problem. It was solved by cleaning the disc.
I hope it works for you.

Sorry to hear that.
Are you alone with this problem, or is it the same for all Canadians?

What we've always said was that we need some time between Q dead line to Connect time to sort the grids and decide hosts.
And with people beeing in different time zones, we need the gap.
2 hours prior Green flag is too tight imo.

Iirc, GATE had a 12 hour before race Q deadline. I liked that. There's a whole week between races so that should be plenty of time to Q. Just my 2¢

And they claim the online issues were resolved. People still getting the BSOD, can't get online...wtf is all I can say to that.

I'm not disagreeing, but if that's the case for qualifying, it would have to also be the case for people who aren't sure they'll make the race, wouldn't it?
It's no different removing a driver that Q'd but can't race than it is adding a new Q. At least that I can think of.

We've always had the Q deadline of midnight PST, to allow every driver from every time zone until at least midnight Saturday night, keeping that rule is fine with me, just pointing out a long-standing question I've had.

 Tim I was serious if I couldn't get on due to servers and could only practice/Q late Sunday I would think it is fair enough to have no pen 👍.

That's the 2% penalty line.
There's a soft deadline and a hard one. The soft one is the 'official' time, when the countdown in the OP hits 0 everything takes a late penalty until 2-hrs prior then we shut the door.

Least that's how I thought things worked.

I'm always looking for an excuse to throw rocks across the river. :sly:
Blame Canada! ... wonder if the Canadian internet is just really overloaded due to millions of people not having hockey to watch.

The difference with the 2 different scenarios is that in one case, it's an Improvement for the grid (people gain positions/divisions/get in to the race), while it's the opposite in the other case..

I somehow managed to connect to the server. Is it okay if I qualy now? At this point I don't care about what division I'm in, I just want to race.

I wanna make a talking point on the Qualfying deadline.

We need a time limit. 12hrs prior to race seems perfect. This allows out Stewerds a solid 12 hour window to rest and prep for the race.

As well anyone qualifying after the time can only do so to fill the grid.

If 32 cars on the grid and someone wants to qualify late. Using their 2% and still get lucky to bump 32 out off race. 32 had dedicated time during the week to ensure he qualified. Prob made a mistake during his q and is now sitting out over a someone who can't seem to make the time prior to deadline.

I feel after deadline qualification should have zero penalty but they are stacked at the end of the current grid. :)

Basically you qualify after deadline only if we are less the. 32 cars. The time will count but you start behind the last qualifing time set prior to deadline.

(I am sensitive to the current connection issues. But that seems to be even more reason to attempt your q early rather then late. )

I'm opening the race room for warm-up in 15 minutes...
At this point I think in Wii's case if we don't have 16 people in the lobby at tech inspection for the D2 race he can start at the back. Otherwise I'd have to say it's too late.
