Okay, so, this is my basic to do list for this week. I plan on getting some done tonight, others later this week.

-Come up with a new point system and make a spreadsheet, using todays races as an example for all of you.
-Make an official banner with whatever Photoshop skills I have. Just nabbed a picture, just a matter of slapping logos and text on it. Simple, really.
-Update sign-up list
-Update OP
-Come up with revised schedule.

Might want to drop Le Sarthe. It doesn't have enough gear; doesn't feel like a good track for the car either.
Nurb TypeV is ok but not great; the stock suspension bottoms out all the time so the car is pretty nervous, and it runs out of gear *just* as you go down hill after the bridge at the end of the straight. Car has lots of potential there, If you want to keep it you might want to allow tuning that week just to make the car more stable.
It's pretty decent at spa, really good stock at suzuka... didn't try GV or Laguna since it's bound to be good there stock.

kinda boring though since no one wanted to play with me. :(

Call me a wimp, but I think this car would be a hell of a lot more fun with about 100 less horsepower. I'm not big on driving cars with lots of power that are "nervous" on the limit.

Glad you guys had fun, looks like the next two weekends are going to be tough since it's Christmas and New Year's. But I, myself, would still be down to do another practice race somewhere right before January (or the 1st Sunday).

great pics Ghoast!! Great lap on the 2nd race. Love the 2nd pic of the cars, looks like my helmet is looking at you! You had great pace on 2nd race, and loved our battles. Well done.

Yeah that was a great battle we had in the second race, compared to the first race where i could barely manage to hang on to you an cicua. Both of you had really great pace in Race 1.

I love my colors. :D New Imola Orange Pearl + Gold wheels = simply awesome.

I run that combo on all of my RM cars now. :)

Okay, so this here is my proposed new point system:

1st: 36
2nd: 33
3rd: 30
4th: 28
5th: 26
6th: 25
7th: 24
8th: 23
9th: 22
10th: 21
11th: 20
12th: 19
13th: 18
14th: 17

D2

1st: 18
2nd 16
3rd 14
4th 13
5th 12
6th 11
7th 10
8th 9
9th 8
10th 7
11th 6
12th 5
13th 4
14th 3

Three bonus points for pole, making a perfect weekend (winning both races and getting pole) 75 points.

You will be allowed to drop your worst Race Weekend total. So, for a 6 week series, your best 5 weekends will count. You can't pick your 2 worst races. They have to be from the same race weekend.

With that in mind, this is how the Practice races for room 1 would have went, if they counted:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AmrPKqYP5rlxdFZGUnRzUlVnMENJeGZzZU9EMGE3OXc

Now, for qualifying and the Divisions, this is my proposition on them:

For the first race weekend, we do normal, week long 4-lap qualifying (which I will be happy to explain in another post for those of you who have not done it before).

The fastest 14 drivers will make up D1, everyone else will make D2. Remember that being in D2 is NOT the end of the world

After every race, the three drivers who finished lowest in D1 will be relegated to D2, while the top 3 drivers in D2 will be promoted to D1. This gives everyone a chance to be in D1 if they're fast enough.

Qualifying for the 2nd race and beyond will be the same 4-lap method, but you'l locked in your division. For example, if a D1 driver crashes during his laps, and posts a slow time, he'll simply start at the back of D1, instead of being in D2.

Thoughts?

Oh, just thought I'd add, that in the case, that we have less than 14 in a D1 race, people from D2 will be called up for that week.

Well, heh, not trying to state the obvious or anything but you saw what happened with JGTS right?

The system sounds good on paper but you have to think about what happens when people are winning a race, then get disconnected and they're told, " Sorry, D2 buddy."

It just doesn't work with GT's unreliability.

In real life racing the car's reliability can be a problem, for us it's getting disconnected.

I know that idea well, but trust me, I speak from experience, not idealism. Wait till the other guys from JGTS chime in.

I agree with Wardez here.

After having experienced one system, I think qualifying deciding who's on D1 and who's on D2 sounds a lot more reasonable. Losing the points for that race is enough "punishment", imho.

In real life racing, when your engine blows up, this doesn't lock you on 15th or worse for the next two races.

Yup I say why complicate things just do what JGTS is now doing and what we have done for the last 2 seasons (Integras and Lotuses) and you race where you quali reguardless.

Also if it helps id put myself down to do people qualis during the week.

I think I like the concept of you race where you qualify each week too. For me I know I'll probably end up in D2 on most occasions and that's where I feel I belong. It would suck to have a great run there then end up having to move up to D1 and run in the back the whole race. I'd rather be running around people I'd actually have a chance to race with.

this again... Have you not been reading the JGTS thread? :ouch:

This divisional promotion/demotion stuff just doesn't work. It's a novel idea on paper but a bad one in reality. (and it has more problems than just disconnections).

Either run open qualifying and you race where you qualified or do what turbo tried with great success in FMSC3... locked divisions with a play-off.

Made a setup for this car. If anyone has any feedback could they post in in my garage thread, thank you.
