Tuning: Yes or no?

Mind as well just leave the HP alone and open up tuning.
I do like the idea of F1 style option/prime tire choices where you get one set of RM tires and unlimited RH and have to use both compounds at some point. Now that they fixed the wear it might be a viable option... need long races though to make pit-strategy interesting.

If we open up tuning and stuff, I'd say less power is better.

And I'm up for an F1 style tyre rule, too.

Open tuning would be great. Let the tuners post their setups. If anyone is walking away with it... maybe success ballast can be implemented.

the car already has such a flat torque curve if you put on the power limiter it will probably not be good.

I'm fine with leaving the hp alone, really. With full aero and a decent setup, it should handle fine.

So I guess we're going for tuning with the new tire wear issue then ? does that mean hard tires or.. ?

Only a few posts above yours, we've been talking about using both hards and mediums.

I just hope people can share a good tune! :D
I know I'm not the best "tuner" around, but I am pretty good at setting a car up. Any advice you would need for any problems you are having I could give you a couple things to try.

There will be plenty of tunes.
Those expecting a "miracle tune" will be disappointed however, because they don't exist, just better or worse for your driving preference.

Thanks bdubclub. I'll take your word on this! 👍

Actually Dom, I tend to get my best times with your setups :D . The one I used for Spa on the last race of the Integras was yours, and it went very well. As for PURE, I used your recommendation on Suzuka, and it's my second tune (I have two base tunes and test them at every track and see how they work).

And while it's true there's no "miracle tune", there's some tunes that work better than others.

Also I admit, for me the tune thing can be psicological. It helps me to think I have the same tune as others. I tend to try thinking "if they can, I can", while if people do not share tunes, I'll go "of course, I'm slower because of the tune!".

Very true!!!!

A good tune can gain you lots of time, that's certainly true. Just saying what gains one guy 2 seconds a lap might only gain another 1 second a lap. Meanwhile there's another setup that gives that second driver the same 2 seconds a lap, and only 1 for the first.

The F1 tire rule is always a fun thought, but it does take a lot of checking through the replays afterward to make sure every one did it right. I'm down though.

As far as "miracle tunes". I have two shreds of evidence in opposition (mostly for new people?)

First of all, we all know Aderrrm is really quick, but guess what, he's about as good a tuner as I am a painter. Second, I ran through the entire Lotus Elise RM series without changing my tune but twice, and that was only the ride height to make it more stable through crazy undulating tracks like Trial Mountain and Autumn Ring.

So yeah, nothing to really worry about.

Yeah I'm down for that compromise. I don't think just 50hp's gonna make a difference to make the racing better though. But I'm alright with less power for sure.

Only thing I'm worried about is that there will be people using fresh cars, dialing the engine down to race and gaining HP during the course of the race as they break it in.

I actually had this thing tacked down as an illegal performance boost way back when I was putting together a defunct Le Mans series. My solution was just doing two checks, a pre-race and post-race inspection. Going to settings would DQ you bar-none.

Now I give the solution to you my friend.

Should work 👍
HP gained through mileage doesn't take effect during a race, it's not dynamic.

I think it was Sail IC again that tested that, and lap after lap at Sarthe he reached exactly the same speeds, but when the race ended and he went back out, he was going 2-3mph faster instantly.

So whether it matters for this championship or not I'm not sure, but anyone trying to cheat that way only cheats themselves. :)

Practice room open.

Closed.

So basically, what I learned is that:

-Tuning and F1 style tire rules is the way to go
-The car is awesome around both Fuji and Daytona. Really seems to like the high speed tracks.

Got some testing in today, trying to break in the car, but was able to get high 1:56's low 1:57's for about 6 laps on the mediums. Still at 488hp though. So I need more mileage to get all that HP out of it. Going to be gone for a few days, so no practice for me. But the tune I have got now seems pretty good.

So can I start testing now? :P

Also, it's a given it likes high speed tracks with as much power that it has.

Yes, lol.

This is basically what I'm looking at for a schedule now. Pick 6:

-Fuji
-Daytona
-Sarthe
-Grand Valley
-Tokyo/Rome
-Spa/Laguna/Something else

Obviously not final yet, but if no one objects, it'll look a lot like that.

Also, OP and Drivers list will be updated when I wake up. No work tomorrow!

Ehhh, not Sarthe, how about we do a really long endurance (2.4 hours) somewhere else, like Suzuka... or Spa... even Daytona.

Did you try Indy btw?

Also, I'd like Tokyo over Rome and possibly Tsukuba in that "something else" spot?

ooh (sorry just got back from work - trashed) what about a tough endurance race around Tsukuba? That would be pretty intense.

I'd say:

Fuji
Spa
Daytona
Sarthe (What can I do? I love the track)
Madrid (Underused, compared to Rome or Tokyo)
Suzuka

Not in this order, of course. As for an endurance race at Tsukuba... I remember the 2'5 hour Sarthe Endurance from the Integras, and it was tough but it had a long track that keeps you entertained. 2'5 hours at Tsukuba is going to be mentally challenging!! I wouldn't vote for it, but I won't be against it, if people want that.

Nice GV, I agree with you mostly.

Except for Spa...

I'm one of the unfortunate "Spa'd out" dudes. I will never let myself burn myself out on a track again...

Actually, I wasn't planning on having a big enduro. Having one at Tsukuba would be really intense, though.

I say:

Fugi
Daytona/Spa
Grand Valley
Tokyo
Nurb GP/F/Madrid
Suzuka

Thats my ideal list :dopey:.
