The only way I split the grids is if we get more than 20 qualified at the deadline.

I never seem to do well in my own series lol. Screwed up the Corkscrew on lap 2 when I had a 35 going.

One hour until deadline. I will not be taking any late qualifiers.

If we end up with 17 drivers, I will sit out this week to leave a room of 16.

You'll be on the waiting list. HugoVaz is about to qualify, so looks like the slowest part timer will be on the waiting list as well.

EDIT: that'll be Ren, I believe.

And now Johan is here.

Grid for Saturday:

1. Wardez
2. outlaw
3. basse101
4. Dr_Watson
5. Wiifreak
6. Phaedrus
7. johnkiller2
8. SkengD
9. brandofo
10. OwensRacing
11. iamsupernasty
12. Third Reign
13. fakegangstadie
14. TOXTAS
15. Müle
16. pag42

Waiting List:
8. carracerptp (part time)
10. ealirendur (part time)
17. twistedfirework (DNQ)

If one more driver Qualifies (and takes the penalty), we can split the grids, though I would prefer that we either have more people qualify than just one more, or none at all.

What's the probability that Tony was intentionaly waiting to q. after the deadline? Just for to spice it up...
Someone should call either him or Jason, it's just funny, i don't think anyone is to be teribly upset 👍

The OP says that the grids are locked 2 hours before the green flag and that you can qualify late with a 0.5% penalty.

How many people are planning on Qing late? I would honestly sooner see 1 16 car race, than 2 10 car races. If Tony qualifies, that makes 20, which is the absolute minimum that I'll split the grids at.

I guess for next week, I need to make the deadline to 2 hours before, and lock the grids at the same time, so we eliminate this.

I don't see a problem in splitting the rooms now. But for the future: I think a better option than having to adapt the grids every weekend (even though it is short) would be to promote a little bit so we get 4 or 5 more drivers. I really don't like having to punish the part timers like this either.

After all, one of main initial ideas was to carry over the popularity of GATE 2 over, not turn it into a club race.

Totally agree the more the better 👍

Alright, so for splitting the grids (because I'm assuming Tony will qualify anyway), We have three options.

Option 1: Split the grids by fastest/slowest like in GATE and JGTS, etc. This requires editing the points system.

Option 2: Split the grids by Odds/Evens, and the two races compete against each other, using the race timer. This is possible, unlike in GATE because of the use of Standing starts, though when I brought it up before, it didn't seem to be very popular, which is why I thought up of...

Option 3: Split the grids by Odds/Evens, and the two races compete against only themselves, using the exact same points system. Therefore, if Wardez wins in D1 (Odds) and Outlaw wins in D2 (Evens), they both receive the 23 points for winning, plus bonus points. This doesn't require a new points system, and is the option I would prefer.

I'm torn between 1 and 3. I'll wait and see what others say.

Option 1 with an even split, I see no problem with it at all. Remember racing in GT4 Cup?

Yeah, but I remember in Gate people talking about different ways of splitting the grids, so I'm just throwing the other options out there and seeing what people prefer. I have no problem with any of them.

10 man races are fine; any number more than one can be good if there's some close matches (the hard part). I'd have to think about option 2 more, but I'd lean towards 1 or 3. If 3 is instituted, you would pretty have to stick with it for the season, yes? Does there need to be 1 less point per position in D2?

I'm also okay with not racing. I understood the risk, and didn't prepare much, but it didn't seem fair to specify full time when I might miss several weeks (I'm uncertain at least the next three weeks, for example).

I'll try to be awake on reserve, but 5am is not the greatest time to be doing that - happy to go to last on the reserve list behind Dave.

If 3 is used, the two drivers who finished in the same position get the same points, before bonus points.

I'm going to bed. Discuss away, and I'll make a final decision when I get up, before the grids are locked. Either way, we are splitting the grids one way or another. No one's being left out.

I kinda like 3 tbh... even though it would mean I'd have to write a new scoring system. But I'd have to vote against it simply because we'd need to keep attendance up all season... variable qualification numbers etc... throw all sorts of monkey wrenches in the championship picture.

1 is obviously the easiest, and if next week we only have 15 nothing is affected except the loss of some bonus points for the second podium. unless you wanted to throw out the 2nd room bonus and place them behind. *shrug*

In the end I'd vote for 2. We've never tried it and I'm not sure I really see the big deal adding a race against the clock into the mix.

I really like option 3 too.

Being easy to get along with. Any will work.

I perfer Option 1 and even split between Div1/2.

If odd/even split the field will be less even. There will be more just driving around by yourself, especially if the field in less than 10 cars-

It's a trade off between closer racing with more cars, and people who had bad Quali not being completely screwed over.

Okay. Grids locked. One hour until room open. Two until green flag.

We'll go with Option 1, I guess.

Ah. I had Johan on there twice, and confused his GTP name with you. Sorry.

Fixing.
