So race starts at
4pm EDT / 16:00 EDT
8pm GMT / 20:00 GMT

???

I planned this for 17:00 GMT as stated in OP. but it's all good. Just need to let GF know she can stop over an hour earlier.

EDIT
10 people in D2 now

well, we have nine, so it won't work. Have a good race guys.

Someone is getting penalties for sure. Dirty dirty dirty.

Had frame rate drop early in the race. It seemed to clear up but just seems car lack grip. :/ not sure what I'm doing wrong but others out brake and carry more speed into turns. I've tried adjusting steering angle. Brake pressure. I'm really getting frustrated with it.

I forgot to grab the replay so someone else will have to get the lap times.

front biased brakes, make damn certain you're holding the wheel arrow straight as long as you can, turn in slowly, lift the brake early, and let outside front get pink.

Im amazed at the differences in tire wear and fuel consumption amongst us , shows driving style does make slight differences .

Other than the very beginning and the very end, it was a fun race. :)

I have the replay and can get the lap times. I don't know where to put them thought.

Also responded to your PM.

Like Tim said, front biased brakes really help with car rotation. It does requires a lot of patience with adding power, or you will go wide.

With Eddie a tick faster than me, him knowing my pit plan, and the atrocious aero push in the draft, the only shot I had was forcing him to push for 36 straight laps, and hope he slips up. The problem was I lost too much time staying out one extra lap, and ended up 4~5 seconds back.

Somehow, I caught up by Lap 30, and without abusing the tires, but my progress stalled. With two to go, I had something, but I all but binned it at Rahal. I abused that Silvia on that last lap, but the gap was just too great. It was quite fun, though. Even though I disliked this combo, that was more fun that GATE. Now it's just a wait and see if my eyes can tolerate a last-second Q for Tokyo.

I usually upload them via TinyPic, and post the image here.

Just did one stint at Tokyo, and posted time over there.
Have no idea how good or bad, since my only real race ever there hapened 2 years ago. Can't wait for other people's inputs - here's looking at you Rich :)

Looks like outlaw is in the 53.6s. 53.2s

I would think 53.1s 52.7 could be done (if I had his last sector).

And ran a 1:53.476?

It will be interesting to see how that holds up.
So am I. With Laguna, it took me about five stints before I hit that 33, and then went backwards. Here, the same amount of time earned me a .273, and since my eye surgery may keep me out anyways, thought I'd do something crazy. Don't think it turned out that bad, since I managed three consistent laps, without touching a wall. :)

D2 Results:

so if we combined everything based on total time ren and johan would be the only people changing places...

That's exactly what our podium bonuses were doing in our super GT scoring model. Glad to see people's complaints with that point scheme evaporate as soon as the rolling start isn't in play.

honestly though, what is the argument against just combining them based on time?

They're two different races. It would be unfair to try and compare them. Unless you want to ghost everyone and we just hotlap for an hour :dopey:

identical cars on an identical track for an identical amount of laps... seems totally fair to me. and all it effects if the top of D2 and the bottom of D1. which is something we artificially do anyway by making "winning the d2 race more valuable than losing the d1 race"

Oh sorry, was still thinking about splitting it odds/evens :dopey:

1. Lag - It could affect one room but not the other.
2. Draft - Effect on total time varies by track. Tokyo is a prime example.
3. Rolling start - We all but had one in D1.
4. Racing - I just don't like the idea of racing someone I can't see.

1. could also affect one car and not another in the same room (a lag spike tossed me off the road and into a wall in rainy yesterday) but we don't do anything about it... so Moot point IMO

2. Draft - doesn't affect the lead car in D2, but it actually might give the last car in D1 a boost to stay ahead of the D2 leader... + it's the same for both rooms, the variables and track conditions are identical. I wouldn't discount it but I see draft as a very minimal component.

3. say no rolling starts, ever. Steve doesn't have a provision in the rules about rolling starts so as the host I will say now that I wasn't going to give us one. Steve gave me the room, I was going to follow his rules.

4. well, you can see the clock? if you're at the back of D1 it gives you more incentive to push toward the end of the race. You've now got something to drive for... namely beating the D2 clock. I fail to see how you'd need to see the car in front of you to drive faster. Red Herring IMO. just push push push, like you should be anyway... do your best and let the dust settle after the clock stops.
