Thanks...but that's a shame, maybe you just haven't seen or driven the right NC.:P

I feel it's the best & most balanced on track out of the three generations. Either way, any Miata is a good Miata so I appreciate your efforts.

Small update.

From Gergely, our modeler:

Still have to delete some parts of the interior like they took out some parts of the real spec also due to the weight reduction, but if they dont run with modified dashboard then I think Spec Miata is done.
Of course it needs to be textured but we have to wait for the modding tools to see how it works in the game.

Few things still on my to do list:

-rear lights
-front suspension parts with little underbody
-openable doors
-different LODs for the game (basicly the LODs are Level Of Detail, when a car is far away from you the game changes to a lower resolution car, so I'll have to do 2 low res version of the car, this is the biggest of all above, its just deleting parts not a hard job but time consuming imo)

How many triangles are you pushing already?
Also how many LOD models do you have? Do you make them manually or by an auto method?

We're keeping it conservative for the first run. Just optimized the wheels since we were told by guys at Kunos that they were needlessly detailed so went ahead and did that. So after the bare mesh is done, exterior only we're looking at around 60k polies, that's including the rims and tires, but not interior, which will be separate.

60k triangles recommended for the exterior with tires and rims,
60k triangles recommended for the for the high definition driving interior
5k triangles recommended for the for the low definition external camera interior/lod (used in replays when viewing cars from the outside and for other cars on track)

So around 130k per object (every part of the car, animations and all is in one import file) fitting within the target performance parameters they set up for themselves.

We're doing just that. Started work on the LODs, which are being hand crafted by Gergely.

Kunos also said it'll be perfectly ok to go over the recommended target, but this is just what they're sticking to for best performance to quality ratio.

Actually how do you go about making a mod for assetto? Do you have to get a permission from Kunos?

How do you deal with the sound? Is just obtaining the samples enough? I mean does the sound simulation of the game take care of the rest?

P.S. I noticed driving against 11 cars halves my FPS. Even with the cars far away and or even out of sight the framerate suffers greatly. Do you think more optimization could be done in this area?

Wow. Looks very nice. You're a hero. I miss my '97 so so much. I have always been looking for a good digital representation to play around with. You and your crew, sir, are the reason I'm going to pony-up for the Assetto Corsa beta tonite. Looks like there's enough to keep me occupied while I wait for the Miata. Can't wait to see the finished product.

I've driven all three. Yeah the NB and NC are wonderful cars, better cars really, but they don't compare to the originals in terms of charming quirks and personality.
I'll be glad to help test this one when you release it.

... After the MX-5 we're going to be moving over to another roadcar/club racing car...
I really like the roadcar/club racer formula. I know you are probably at a loss for ideas for the next car, ;) (yeah right) but at least around here, one of the popular club racers before the Miata showed up, was the Honda CRX. Sorry, couldn't resist. One thing at a time.

PUREly fantastic. That car just screams fun, great work.

What's your favorite flavor?

From Gergely Kiss, our modeler:
75k triangles now, but only the front low headlights are 8k because they are modeled, but will use normal map there if possible, or in worst case simple texture. Also suspension/underbody is modeled a little, its around 5k, and its not that necessary so you can see if its too much we can remove parts or optimise it to achieve the best quality/preformance. Will se how AC handles things ;)

btw its the high poly exterior I'am talking about and high poly interior was around 65k when I last checked

Looks great. Mine was red, but ive always liked that blue.

Are yall thinking about stage 1, 2, etc. for the roadcar? Flying Miata turbo kit? :D.

I should get AC just because of this mod, though I'm still deciding between Game Stock Car 2013 and this.

Work of art! :)

Very impressive work, how's the physics coming along or is that something you will only get to test when you can convert into game?

I want to be involved in the actual creation of any particular mod, if only I could model :(

That really is a talented modeller at work here, i'm sure you will be hired by one of these up and coming developers soon by the looks of it.

Guy's I wouldn't mind test driving and giving some feedback on physics and FFB if indeed you need it.
