"Some people would like to be known for releasing only high quality mods and assets" I understand that but in a game which is not finished ? It would be no problem if this mod would be released in a early version, noone would complain.

You definitely don't understand.

You might not complain, but so say that no one would complain is to show a profound misunderstanding of how the internet works.

Just because the game isn't finished, doesn't mean that anyone making content for it has to stick to the same developmental philosophy.

Yes, you are talking to a wall. While I don't make mods for racing games, I am part of a community that produces free content for release on the internet. I'm very well aware of the expectations of people, and the "damned if you do and damned if you don't" of releasing early versions.

You're going to need actual logic to convince me that there are substantial benefits to releasing earlier than the author is comfortable with, because the biggest problem I see is people burning out because they felt pressured. Whether they were actually pressured or not, the point is that they felt it.

That's why I'll always tell every mod maker or anyone else who does something like this for free to do what they want, when they want to, and to hell with anyone else. Them staying happy and productive is ultimately better for them and better for the community (because we end up with more stuff). It's no good to get this mod early, just to pass up the other three mods they might have made later had they not had to deal with the drama of releasing earlier than they wanted.

Iam sure you was one of the guys who were crying for PD to release GT 5 a bit early and patch it later (Nearly 95% off all comments back in the GT 5 time in the News section sounded like that) , or release it early and add the rest of the cars/tracks later ..... I was not crying , i waited for the game but if i think again , it would be really good to relase it early.Add everything later so the players have something to play, exactly like all the Early Access games, for example Assetto Corsa. What iam trying to say is, if even the game is in a early stage and patchs/updates/content is coming from time to time then the developers of mods don't need to make it look like if their mods are very special. Don't get me wrong , this mod for example looks very good but while reading their texts ("please don't ask to be included in the closed beta test, we already have our testing grou") i feel like that they are making a whole new game. LOL

I respect and understand your opinion but you should try to understand my ponint too !

ps: One last question:

How did you feel back then we got the information that Le Mans(Nordschleife) was in GT 5 Prologue ? Pls give me an honest answer.

I don't remember ever being given the information that either Le Mans or the Nordschliefe was to be in GT5P. Possibly it was while I was travelling and not paying much attention to Gran Turismo.

Sure enough to tell me what my opinion was, apparently. I'm sure you'd know better than me what I thought of GT5. The general tone of the News section certainly would be a great tool to use to judge the opinion of one specific person.

I was just assuming ;)

Le Mans , Nordschleife and i think tsukuba were on the GT 5 P Disc. And how do you feel now ? Of Course you love it right ??

Of course you were, making an ass of both you and me.

What does this have to do with anything?

They may have been on the disc, but they weren't accessable to me or any other normal person. And yes, I do love GT5P. It's the last GT game that I did love. Can we get back to talking about Assetto Corsa now?

If you would had read my other comment you would know that i was asking for your honest opinion about that... These tracks were on the Disc and later they came out with a special menu you could access with button combinations. Do you remember the Gt5 P video on youtube on the Nordschleife ? Thats how PD "unlocked" it for special game events... And we had to play on 6 tracks years long and waited for GT 5 to finally play on the NS...

I started with the GT5p topic because its nearly the same thing just different names ; )

I think it would be better if we stop here, we will not come to an end... Lets just hope they will release it in a "few" days

No, it won't come to an end. You seem to feel that you have some sort of right to other people's work, regardless of whether you've paid for it or contributed in any way. I cannot and will not agree with that.

You can hope they release in a few days, I'll hope that they take as long as they need to feel satisfied with their work. If that's a day or a week or a month or six months, that's fine with me.

"You seem to feel that you have some sort of right to other people's work" Don't get me wrong but are you drunk ?????
You still didn't gave me an answer...
If you still want to say something we could use PN for that because that's something between us and has not much to do with the Thread.

Iceman, you need to calm down abit here m8, take a chill pill and forget about the Miata mod for now. There really isnt long to wait now so just be patient, it will be worth the wait.

When releasing any mod, it will always be judged by graphics, sound, ffb and physics. When one or all doesn't quite meet people's expectation's there can be quite nasty feedback. The team and the modders involved are working really hard to bring a good quality mod right from the get go so just sit tight and drive some other fantastic mod's until Pure are ready to release.

Announcement: we're now sponsored by world famous Miata tuners, Flyin' Miata! Be sure to check them out and give their page a like if you haven't yet as they have lots of awesome custom parts and kits for Miata owners of every persuasion :D. They ship all over!

https://www.facebook.com/flyinmiata

So what does this mean for the mod? Flyin' Miata S3 version with official FM skin! and... perhaps... a tribute to the fabled V8 Targa Miata, besides other goodies. Stay tuned!

Small update on the public beta release: core team members got caught up with work and school so development has slowed down. We're also currently waiting on a brand new custom professional sound recording from a friend, new rim models, mesh updates, and a completed S1 version physics package. Once that's all complete, we promise, you'll be able to drive.

Although I do need to add that we're still discussing what the best way to go about a release will be. Internal testing of the base version has gone exceedingly well and feedback has been tremendous. There's just a couple more issues with the overall package that we would like to get patched up before we would ideally like to release.

But! If we see that things are just going to take to long, going down that route, then we may just release it a little prematurely. We shall see. I'll have another update for you guys before this week ends. Thank you for your support! And thank you Flyin' Miata for believing in the project!

Update from Marlon, our physics shaman: "Calm down guys.. Its SLS day!, we are all hard at work to get this ready for you.. I do physics normally, but to help I managed to track down a laser scan from the depths of the internet and have spent the last 8 hours trying to get it too a workable mesh for Geri to use for reference when he has less pressures from work. This weeks earlier work props to @M/\DH/\X for his superb wheels! "

Still working on finishing up details on the S1 package, and converting the laser scan data into a useable 3D polygon mesh for us to confirm our model against.

She's coming along well!

Here's some more screens of our laser scan we'll be using to tweak and match up/correct our own model. This means we will essentially have 100% accurate model. So that, along with what we hope to achieve with our physics model, will be making this mod the definitive Miata mod anywhere.

Now that I have a pc good enough to run this game, I'm stoked to give this a try. The tie in with GTP really puts it over the top IMO. Will there be an official GTP skin for it? Don't be shy about dropping a V8 into that baby at some point!

Yeah, Madhax may be making it, if not him, someone else for sure.

We're sponsored by Flyin' Miata, so of course there will be a V8 of some sort :)

Can't wait until the whole project is finished with all variations of the MX-5, I think people are in for a real treat with this mod.

As for the GTP skin I got to finish off the BBS wheel and tyre texture before moving onto that, dont want to make any promises right now but having a GTP skin will be great. As soon as I get the skins template I will look into it.

If there's a V8 involved, I'm even more excited now for this mod.

Out of curiosity, will we be able to texture this car?

Does Flyin' Miata just use LS engines for the V8 conversions or others as well? I believe Matt Farah once drove a MX5 with a LS400 V8, I don't know if this one was from Flyin' Miata though...

They've used others, but mainly engines in the LS series, yeah.

Quick update for you guys since it's the 25th anniversary of the Miata and all. Damn, today would've been a great day to release wouldn't it have? But you can't rush perfection now can you.

Geri is still working on the model, refining it to perfection before he finally takes the last step with it. If you can believe it, this model hasn't even been unwrapped yet, afterwhich it'll look even better in-game, much closer to our provisional images of the model rendered using 3ds Max.

The two pictures of the car in white feature Geri's latest refinements to our standard NA model. The S1 version is going to look different in the details, different steering wheel, front air dam, removed front emblem, different wheels, and other goodies. Will post image previews of the S1 version once it's done up more.

The pic with the three cars in it is from Marlon, our physics writer:
"Another update pic for you guys, from left to right.. stock, lightly modded S1, and the turbo'd S2. "

Work is coming along nicely! Will be ready to unwrap, then add things like rollbars to the upgraded cars and such, and then it'll be close to time for release, hopefully within the month!

I can't wait to try out the S2! I plan on Turbocharging my NB in the future, so I definitely want to see how it will handle.

Really excited for this mod, keep up the great work!

The wheels look a little smallish.

Are the Kosei racing wheels still going to be an option? I have a set of those on my car and would love to see them on the Miata.

I am currently working on a rim for the S1 car and as far as I know each variation of the MX-5 will have a different set of wheels. After I have finished making the BBS rim I will be making another set for the S2. The Kosei Racing rim is not on the cards atm, but if you can post some high res pictures of the wheel you want then I will ask other members and look into making it for one of the other versions. No promises though as S1, S2 and possibly S3 has already got a planned rim in place.

Maybe we could use the wheel of your choice to make it for the V8 version but no promises as all the rims may have been chosen already. Still I will ask the team and let you know.

Shot from testing came out really well. She's almost ready.

Those wheels look like 13" or smaller, isn't 14" the standard size? I could be mistaken about those wheels, but it's a common mistake for people to make a wheel rim the same diameter as the tyre fitment size. A 14" wheel should be about 15" in diameter of the outside rim.

Thanks for pointing that out guys. I'll ask about it and make sure.

was about to reply but you beat me to it ^^

We will deffinetely look into it and if indeed there is any mistakes we will surely update it in future. For now though we are very busy trying to get this mod finished so that it can get a release. So hope you can all understand and thanks for your patience.

Well, it won't be finished, it'll be a public beta release. 1.0 will come a little later.

After initial public beta release though, work picks back up on the Spec Miata.
