Personally, i'd support the idea of 30fps replays, because I expect some kind of cinematic (tv-like) experience, and if the lower framerate in replays (and only in replays) can bring some more eye candy, I'm all for it.

How about the choice to decide between 60fps and 30fps? The return of 60fps replays on consoles were a noteworthy feature of pCARS 1. Downgrading the framerate to 30fps in pCARS 2 might be seen as regression by some reviewers (and consumers). If we are speaking personally, I find it very jarring to go from a fluid 60fps during gameplay to half of that framerate during replays, no matter how well motion blur is implemented or how many post-processing effects are added.

(cue the usual "b..b..but films... 24fps... filmic... the eye can only see 10fps..." nonsense).

Up to 4 classes. So i just finished an LMP1, P2, GTE, GT3 test today. Yeah GTE/LM and GT3 are separate classes. I think there's like 30 or more classes altogether.

I assume the game sets randomly which cars will enter the race in their respective classes?

I see two problems with this:
1) there will be cars the game won't include in the race, since it's random sometimes we'll get ones, sometimes we'll get others like it happens in PCARS1 because the game sometimes adds to many of the same car and others are left out.
2) if we can't specify the number of cars per class, that too will be random and then we will get some overcrowded classes and others will be lacking.

I understand why some people might not care much about being able to pick every car that will enter the race because there are many race types/events/whatever that a random feature will suffice, like NASCAR, Formula, V8 supercar, those all look the same so simple liveries variety is enough I guess.
But for other races like Le Mans which include iconic cars it's natural to want to recreate as far as the game allows with the available cars a specific historic race. Recreate the car grid. Or just because we have a passion for some cars and would like to setup races which would include all of them racing together.

Please I beg you to consider this. Being able to pick class 1 to 4 is a step forward but it's not going all the way. It's not going to be satisfying enough, specially for those who don't play online.

Allows us to pick the cars for the races, I beg you to consider.

^this. Most other driving games (GT5) do 30fps replays to inject extra quality and effects (motion blur etc.) to make them look really nice. We're going the same route this time on consoles (will be unlocked for PC, again a tech difference....not a different game feature). GT5 has very nice smooth realistic replays (we think).

How about the choice to decide between 60fps and 30fps?
making FPS (and few other graphics things) player-selectible is a big SONY/MSFT no-no

That's a damn shame to hear it confirmed.

No chance of unlocked framerates for replays on PS Pro/Scorpio then?

Question to SMS: are we still limited to 16 unique cars on track on console? If that's the case, I can see why we wouldn't be able to pick the grid ourselves in a multiclass situation.

Not asked for a while.

Will there be an option for tyre blankets? E.g. Out of the pitlane in practice/qualifying, the tyres on a Formula B/V8SC are cold.

Will we be able to have multiple races in online/offline? E.g. GP2 in real life with top x reversed or set by fastest laps?

You are talking about online mode right? I am mostly talking about solo mode. Picking cars for the AI opponents.

Are you 100% sure about this? Bioshock on the Xbox 360 (edit: on PS3 as well) had a toggle for both 30fps and unlocked frame rate modes. A few other console games have this too.

Just wanted to say @IanBell 's contribution to the Q&A's is spectacular. Way to go Mr Developer to keep fans glued and interests peaked. Another developer (not mentioning any names) should take note.

This. All of this! It's funny...this site is named after Gran Turismo, which we all owe a great thanks to for having paved the way for console sims. But now I come here for P Cars. The torch is being passed to SMS' talented hands.

Communication is key for any relationship, and this Q&A is solid proof of their commitment to the community.

Conversely, if the team has any questions for us, please ask away! This is a two-way street.

@IanBell @The_American Thanks for your responses here, 20 pages of light reading !

As a league organiser at Raceonoz we are really hoping that the talked about improvements add that little bit of polish to what we try to provide.

Some questions that i believe directly relate to leagues

1. To run "random" weather, the pit options were way too complicated and time consuming when mid race. Did i read correctly that these options will be much more adjustable on the fly, or when entering pit lane for races with the 'random weather' option?
2. The proposed "leagues option" i have read about, will it allow drivers to be added after the 'season' has started ?
3. What are the chances of running your own name and number on your car ? Would help greatly with league adjudication so long as the livery glitch from PC1 is fixed.
4. Is the magnetism issue sorted ?

Thanks in advance

My question for Ian or The American if it hasn't been answered already, is will the AI be better at turning on there lights in rainy/foggy/snowy conditions? That's one of only a few things I found annoying about the first game because during hazardous conditions the AI drivers rarely turned on their lights which made it very hard to see them and avoid crashing.

I saw a PCARS 2 video on YouTube (already taken down), and I saw the AI have their lights on during the foggy rain.

Will the starting lights be more random this time? Pcars1 was very easy to time the lights and get a jump at the start.

Will we be able to save multiple setups for the same track?

Will the host have the option to ban the driving line in lobby settings?

Ian, American..

What's your thoughts on custom avatars?
Being able to add your driver picture to your profile, for use in online lobbies would be excellent.

Who else would like to see a real picture of your competition?

No I mean that memory-wise PCars 1 had a 16 unique cars on track at a time. For example if you had a grid of 150 cars in PCARS 1 and all cars were allowed in the race, only 16 would be picked. The game would fill up the rest of grid with different liveries of the same 16 cars. This isn't an issue for a non-multiclass situation in PCARS 1 because not one class had more than 16 cars. For the sequel, if you have 4 classes to pick from, the pool of unique cars is larger, and you may not see every possible car picked no matter the size of the grid. In short, if we pick the cars under the same 16 unique car limit, you still could not recreate a full LM grid.

for the love of god Ian Bell why are there no "cloud saves for PC" I have lost all my car setups three times on PC, I am at the point where it extremely hard to be kind I own this game on PC and ps4 with 99% of Dlc and I have truly loved racing online it's fun as long as my setup is faster then wreckers. I wish you the best in Project cars 2 I just pray this won't be an issue Ian. I hear there is a way to back up my saves but I am very new to PC and feel that this should not be an issue in this day and age. Again best of luck Ian.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<steamID number>\234630\local\project cars\profiles\default.sav

One file to back up. Just copy it to your desktop or to a USB drive once a week. Not really all that difficult.......

Not really a question. Although not said in the best way for it to be answered anyway.

@IanBell @The_American

Sorry if this has already been asked/answered

Saved (named) set ups?

One of my biggest frustrations with pcars1 is that I never know what set up I actually have active on the car. This is especially true for online races. For example, I'll join an online gt3 race knowing I have a great set up for the Bentley from the career mode racing I was doing, but then they set the track to one that wasn't part of my offline career series and I have no idea if i remembered to save my set up to all tracks. Chances are I end up trying to race online with the default set up and get owned.

Also I would prefer to be able to save multiple set ups per track for the same car, e.g. a wet vs a dry set up

Thank you

You joined Gtplanet today, and your very first post is a poorly written, run on sentence insulting the developer.
Frustration often leads to answers when approached correctly.

There is literally one file to copy to a folder, desktop, wherever you prefer. It's 'default.sav' which is in pcars\profiles.

Edit, ninja'd by the reply right after your post :) Better detailed than mine also.

i hope you can appreciate my frustration to some degree! I enjoy many different car classes and I am a bit obsessive about getting the cars just rite, didn't realize I came off in a nasty way I was just trying to keep it real and was still feeling the burn. I actually would like to thank you for getting me into sim racing, own 3 wheels, 3 shifters, 3 pedal sets, to cockpits, cv1 & a kick ass PC smarter than I am unfortunately. Also thanks for adding cv1 support I can't drive without it anymore it's just freakn awesome.
