I wouldn't call that questionable. I'm not a fan of the color combo but it looks well built. The interior is also alot nicer then the bland stock interior GM was obsessed with in the 80s.

What is questionable about th purple fiero are the yellow bits. Loose that and even in purple, the interior would be cool. I'd absolutely drive that thing.

There's also the fact that these cars accept without much trouble LSx transplants and there is a lot of aftermarket support for suspension stuff, so it's absolutely possible to make a Carrera GT-killer out of one of those.

Naw, it has been done before. There are Fieros that are pushing ten second 1/4 times and 1.2 gs in the skid. The things weigh next to nothing, and with about 600 hp on tap (LS7 + cama nd repro) and serious rubber... and well, a good driver lol, the thing will chew whatever you throw at it. I seem to remember a widebodied car that ran impossible times at Laguna Seca, but can't remember where the heck I read about it.

The same can be done with, for example, a Solstice, or several other lightweight cars. I'd love to see someone try the formula with one of those mid-ship Opels.

No no, I'm well aware of the IMSA Fieros, but the one I'm talking about was a brutal street car modified with an LSx engine, Porsche transaxle and R-Compounds that was, I think, precisely in the high 1:30s at Laguna, or pretty damn close to that. For a street car that's cookin'.
