QUICK MATCH DISILLUSIONMENT!?!?

Was that today? Had one running in a room today killing it with a couple 2:56's and then later on another was running 3:03's with a Miura.
2:56? In a GSX-R I presume? Yikes!

But lol @ the pinball cars/poor coding comments. It's so bad. I've been saving replays of all the times I get rammed and penalized. Want to make a supercut of the pure absurdity of the "penalty system" and post it on the GT Facebook page haha. Today I had some dirty racer rear end the crap out of me and I got 8 seconds. Perfectly square rear ending, and I was braking late as it was. Lots of bad connection teleporters too. If EVER there was someone who needed to become permanently GHOST to avoid collisions, it's the guy with the super shaky internet connection whose car can exert 20 kiloton TNT equivalent on you without warning.

And then shortcuts. That Trial Mountain shorcut can lop 1 second off a lap even with penalty. Makes for some interesting finishes. I never run the typical fast cars (don't even own GSX-R/4.) I'll just tune cars that I like down to around 1:30/lap and troll. So there can be some tight finishes vs. the G and N SX's. Will they cut the corner? Should I go with them? If I have a dirtbag on my ass, should I just do it preemptively?

I've been doing a few races at Trial Mountain over the last few days and noticed the standard of driving has improved dramatically. You still see a few numpties who have to use your car to get round the corners but forewarned is forearmed with them and easy to bait into making a mistake.

The penalties are still a pain in the arse so I drive weird lines to try and avoid them but I've had some great races with a lot of clean wheel to wheel action.

The short cut onto the start/finish line is annoying to lose a race on but the people doing it win a shallow victory. It counts for nothing. You could drive slower and keep on their left to block the short cut so they get a collision penalty if they try it.

^^ That was a sick 2nd lap. 2nd place was really keeping you on your toes.👍

The best hot lap I've done is a mid :27 in my Miura but I'm getting a bit of over steer on the high speed corners. Perhaps I should put a rear wing on too. Only thing I haven't tried.

My complaint with quick match is its getting progressively harder to even connect. I can sit there for 30 minutes trying to get into a lobby and I keep getting "entry failed" message. Other times it works just fine.

I was "moved" enough times to know the you can't give up the inside line, I'm not sure if it is all the different connections in a QM room but it's hard to get a good feel for the car. These were the two best laps I did the only day I tried QM, a clean start and a 2:54 would be possible with the GSX. A clean start is a once in a lifetime event in quick match though, lol.

Problem is like on madrid on the brz/gt86 challenge, if someone nerf you into the first corner you are out of the race, same with the last chicane...Nasty racing. I camelast 3 races in a row due to being hit from behind so my car face plants onto the barrier.

^^ I actually prefer it that way. No mix and match speed cars to concertina the pack up.

The GSX-R might be (is) too dominant in the game but it's a lot of fun to drive and it really loves Trial Mountain with the right set up. I'll race against other GSX-Rs all day long.

I have to admit that I actually enjoy driving it. It's kind of like playing Battlefield Bad Company 2 and using the shotgun slugs that have no trajectory drop. It might be kind of cheap to dominate that way, but it's fun as hell. And as long as the majority of the room is running the GSX-R, I figure it's fair game from a competition standpoint. It'd just be nice to see a little more variety.

It's such a shame that you can't change cars in between races. To cater for the field and driver levels instead of rolling the dice and finding a new room you can get a better race in.

Hopefully on the next refresh, they drop the concepts and prototypes from the line up and open up a wider competitive field.

And not a single **** was given

I didn't cause him to crash. He was well ahead of me (quite frankly the Rocket can't compete with the GSX at 500pp) and lost it on that turn. Not going to lie. It made me smile as I passed. He immediately rage quit.

Agree 100%, the ability to change cars and exclude the ringers would make for a much better experience. Seems every time I go in without the GSX I get into a room full of sub 3 minute GSX's.

Changing the penalty system to somehow penalize the brake checker instead of the checkie would be welcome also.

@WhoosierGirl a 2:55 is flying, nice. :bowdown:

The brake checking drives my crazy, I saved a few replays just to go back and make sure that lag didn't cause the problem.
Every time it has been some one slamming the brakes and then you get a huge penalty, grrrr......lol.

I completely wore out my Miura the other night and switched to the GSX to try to get a 2:53, finally got a clean get away only to bomb the entrance to turn 9 on the first lap. I did get an as of now personal best though.

Is that WITH cutting the final chicane? Seems to cut a couple seconds off the final if you do it both laps. I usually only do it if I see people ahead of me doing it.

Aside from some frustrating individuals now and then, these races are great. The payouts can't be beat. I've been using SW_10's NSX-R Prototype Road Car and just drop the HP. I can usually get race times of 3'04s until the BAC goes too high. So it will handle most GSX-R's, not yours and not some individual I came across on Saturday doing very similar times.

Good Times :)

Very nice. I believed you though.

Sorry, I didn't mean the second part to sound like I was upset for being asked. I had a little smart a$$ streak in me earlier, I was going back and forth with someone on PSN over really being an innie and not an outie. :)

I'd never doubt the time you say you can get, anywhere, on any track. Not after seeing the bright pink Scirocco at Mt Panorama that punched way above it's weight a few months ago.

That doesn't mean I don't want to see the replays though. I was stuck trying to beat my own time and get into the 56s with my auto geared DS3 decrepitude.

Copied your line going into the first tunnel instead of trying to carry more speed wide and took almost 2/10ths off my time. 2:57.07. I drifted off line a bit on a couple of the fast corners so I know where that last 10th is coming from.

Could I be cheeky and ask what your suspension settings are?

Nothing wrong with an automatic, it's what I use. There is something funny about doing a setup for the quick match, I can make a few changes and the car will be just the way I like it. The next time I go into QM the car will be awful. No idea why it happens or if it is just me, now I just leave the car alone and drive.

This is what I have been using.

Thank you very much for the settings. I can't get on the console till later, but from memory, my spring rate is a lot harder and too low a ride height. I don't so much drive round Trial Mountain, I skip round it.

I've noticed how my set up changes too though. I suppose how good the connection to the server plays a hand in it. Extrapolating (or is it interpolating?...) what we're doing our side to the server can't be the same every single time. Even if it has known values to work with.

(I'm guessing on the cause really, but it sounds feasible...)

Thanks again for the suspension settings. Can't wait to give them a try and I will get into the 56s tonight. Probably.

Well, someone`s calling you "cheating NAZI FAGGOT" could be taken as being offensive.

I just replied with: "You are a sad and stupid person. Thanks for admiring my fast car. And now go and 🤬 yourself."

Then I put him on my black list. Too many dumb children around. I pass.

Tried qm today and found it terribly frustrating. Didn't get a chance to experience the premium grade morons that I've just read so much about lol, I was too busy dealing with bugs that prevented me from actually racing.

First race I had a chance to at least race two guys who were in the room, race started, half way around the first (and only) lap at sarthe I had a 12 second lead, both guys quit.... awesome, I came first... and last....

second race, gt3 at spielberg. Was really looking forward to the race, as it was almost a packed room. race starts, and nothing except the pit buildings and the cars loads... no track... no background... just blackness. Strangely, the bull statue was loaded lol, so it was me, 10 other cars, a bull, a couple of small buildings, and the matrix.... fun times! so I quit that one.

I thought "third time lucky", and tried to enter the gt3 spielberg race again. This time, after telling me it had found a match and was loading, the game froze my Playstation, forcing me to turn it off. One 3 beep shutdown later, I decided it was a pointless waste of time.

Not only that, but I really don't like games that suffer so badly that they freeze the whole system, and/or don't manage to load things properly. I have only just replaced the laser in my ps3, after I'm pretty sure I ruined the last one from only playing gt6 and gta online, which both seem to really put a strain on the system.

Anyway, that's my two cents on "quick match". Was a huge waste of time for me. I'll stick to racing in leagues with proper clean racers, and doing the red bull standard championship if I wanna grind me up some cash.

It's better some days than others. Believe it or not, it's actually a lot more stable than it used to be. It might take a couple of attempts to get in (and stay in) but it does work eventually. As for the lock up, I had one or two when it first appeared but none since then. I might have to quit the game from the controller once or twice a month but no more full lock ups.

I've noticed when you get past the matching up and into the race room itself though, if anything doesn't look right, quit and retry. Likewise, if there's no watch race or warm up option once you're in, it's not stable either. You could get disconnected after a few seconds or even into the race itself. Better to keep retrying till everything looks exactly right.

Doing that, I barely ever get disconnected.

I did notice there was no warm up option before the race started that led to the full lock up of the playstation. So cheers, good advice
