I don't give a flying [censored] about the comparison other than I'll play this on the 360 over the PS3 ANYDAY simply for the better controller from the 360. I also don't care if people say I'm crazy for saying the 360 controller is better over the PS3's.

Usually the people who prefer the PS3 controller haven't spent much time playing the 360. The layout is more comfortable and the controller just feels better. But let's not turn this into an 360 vs PS3 thread.

with the controller, i cant tell what my rear tires are doing, how much friction they have or even if im slightly oversteering. no vibration at all in the 360 demo unless im shifting

I have 2 wheels, one for the 360 and one for the PS2... I could probably count how many times I've used both on my fingers. I don't have the time, the patients, or the space for wheels.

I don't know if anyone has pointed this out yet, but GRiD supports the G25 H-shifter (don't know about the clutch).

Personally, I wish GRiD was more sim & less arcade - it would make the driving more challenging & fun IMO. What's the opinion has to how it compares with PGR3 & 4?

But... I ALWAYS use racing wheels in fighting games!

lol i always try and use a racing wheel or flight stick in a mech game. FUN

(where's Chromehounds for PS3?)

let me guess, both 200 degree wheels?

Really nice for a demo! I had some great fun racing online. Somewhat reminds me the Toca3 but the physics seem to be dumbed down. Does anyone think the drifting sucks?

The GRID demo is amazing. This game in many ways are miles ahead of GT5P, IMO.

This game truly feels like a race sim on PS3 and I am now more excited about it than GT5....LOL.
Seriously you have to be joking, GRID is fun, but the physics are not realistic at all. Its certainly not a sim.

Go back and actually read my post, watch the video and follow the link. Its not rating one version over the other, simply that Gametrailers faked a comparison, one that happened to be GRID.

I've spent plenty of time using both the Six axis, 360 pad and DS3 and I personally prefer the PS3 controllers (and your argument about spending time with the 360 pad could be reversed and be just as valid). Its got nothing to do with one being better than the other, most of this would be a personal thing.

I know... and I'm just saying I don't give a [censored] about this crap... It's like the PS3 vs 360 crap or the Is/Will Haze be exclusive?

Not to mention Haze sucks anyway...

This is an arcade - ish racer which is fun. But when/if PD implements damage in GT5p (fall update?), it's likely going to be more realistic, even if it is only visual damage. I don't think I'm going to spend € 64 if GT5p/GT5 is going to have better damage etc.... .

I'm going to wait what Ferrari challenge and motorstorm2 has to offer.

Raced online for a while yesterday... got a good feeling out of it. I think the cockpit view, although not as pretty as GT5p, works better... i think its got mostly something to do with the wheel spinning faster and being more twitchy... The sounds are very similar if not the same as DIRT, and they are great... another thing PD could take a look at... very convincing sounds, with the turbo whine and fluffing and all that stuff. Damage works well too, even if its an 'arcade' game.

There's however one thing that's a bit wierd... the game feels like its on fast-forward for me... everything seems too quick... but you get used to it.

Overall, i think GRID captures the feeling of "racing" better then GT5 does, but that might have to do with sounds and environments which feel more alive.

Overall, good demo... i'll buy the full game.

i played the game for about an hour and switched back to GT5P... and i could not for the life of me handle the Z06 from spinning out! took me a few minutes to get back to where i was used too lol

💡 It has to do with this:

Everything is speeded-up, which makes it feel more like "racing" than a sim game, even though it isn't.

I really dig Grid DEMO. I also like the drift model. I dont care how un-sim it is, thats not the goal and i enjoy racing games in general not just sims. Compared to Need For speed Pro Street and PGR it feels in between those two. I'll be buying this when it comes out. And I played for PS3.

I played for about 40 minutes last night. Grid is a no-go for me... just like Dirt. The damage is good, graphics are pretty good, but I cannot ignore the amazingly poor physics it has. Far worse then any Need for Speed game... and very frustrating. I made the rather bad decision of jumping onto GT5:P (online :scared: ), straight afterwards… and, just like Masi_23, I couldn’t keep a 4wd WRX on the track at all.

I really dislike the strong arcade path which Codemasters has decided to follow. We need some retro (PS1) Toca Touring Car games back.

Edit: One thing I like is the Replay mode of the game. The R/L2 triggers are good fun to slowly rewind/forward the action... great for watching a car disintegrate frame by frame 👍

Yep, I found out myself.

To all others: don't activate your controler and it will work.
You can even set the G25 up to your likings. FFB, deadzone, saturation, 900 degrees on/off, etc... .

:)

thanks for the tip I've been searching it.

Theres a good preview on IGN that goes some way to describeing the actual structure of the game, sounds prety good, with a nice carrea path and an actual progresion and goals within the game. The car buying system was breifly mentioned as well which sounds fasinating with the ability to buy second hand cars of the "ebay" car site. Also the fact you need to earn money to buy cars to enter races seems to give this a good "one more go" factor. Theres also a mention of how the team system works, interestingly you pick your team colours and team number, this is used on all your cars. You then get sponsership deals depending on your results, the logos for which are placed on your car in various positions depending on your choice. Goes a little way towards making your cars and team personalised which should draw you into the game more.
So far we've only really had the demo to form judgement on, looking at the preview info theres a heap more to this game than just the driving in the form of incentives and looking after your prized cars! Oh yeah and there is a demolition derby series of races.......how much mayhem will that cause online LOL

Most online races with any racing game (bar rfactor and GTR2) are Destruction Derby anyway

Should be great fun

Thats some good info. This game is starting to sound better and better each day. I enjoyed the demo and planned on renting it but the more I hear the more I am thinking about buying at least 1 copy of the game. I am just glad they allow us to actually see other players online. The screwed that up real bad for Dirt. Looks like the learned from their mistake.

I am suprised how good this game is myself, at the risk of turning into a PR man for CM I think this game has nailed PGR's coffin shut and as a big fan of that series I don't say that lightly. It is the middleground between sim and arcade like PGR was and it compliments GT5 as PGr complimented Forza. There is quite a bit of skill needed and given a chance the car physics do come to the surface though they are speeded up and very forgiving compared to a true sim, but this all adds to the feeling of racing, being on the edge and with the excellent damage system it increases the adrenerlin rush! I have of late been getting into the drifting section, I've tried to get into this aspect of compertition before on various games but Grid seems to have got the feeland control just right got it down to a 1.3 million per lap with 13 combos! I have tried the lap time comp but closest I can get is 1.19 and just cant get any more speed out of the BMW.
The one I can't get to gripswith is the american one, fighting the understeer can be a real nightmare at times, I'm putting it down tothe car though.
When you look at the features of the full title this really dose look to be a classic game, one thing which dose have me questioning it though is a couple of online features, theres no reason why these things shouldn't be in the full game but after Dirts abysmil online mode I do have a few worries, the 3 main things are these....
Voice chat, it really will take alot away from the game if theyve gone the route of F1CE
Friend invites.......speaks for itself, a room full of randoms can get tedious with some of the race idiots out there.
And finaly the ability to setup a race, ie track, car restrictions laps ect, presently the track is decided by a vote which is ok but this could be a bit mad with the number of tracks available in the full game also the race distances at the moment are just short, 2 laps, medium, 5 laps, and long, 7 laps. These are things which are probubley down to the demo but I wouldn't mind hosting some half hour le mans endurance races with friends over a few rounds with round percific cars say classic muscle cars, touring cars and then the GT cars. I supose we'll have to wait for some more info to trickle out in the previews but heres hopeing the above problems don't make it into the final game.

I'm hoping they have voice chat, because there have been quite a few times I wanted to say "Sorry, I guess I overestimated my braking skills" then drive off into the distance :dopey:

And I hope that they do like SOCOM 3 and have (if you are wearing a headset in single-player) the radio communications over your headset, which would be truly realistic if you had a cockpit set-up.

From,
Chris.

Yeah cockpit over headset would be awesome.....Is there any word on pitstops? Not a major issue in my book but it would add a little to the gameplay. I have noticed the damage indicator for each of your wheels, but I did a few dozen donuts to check it out and didn't get any detrimental effect on the rear tyres. Plus theres no fuel meter so it dosn't look good for pit stops........I wonder how mad the open wheel events are! if you watch the game icon on the PS3 XMB you'll see em on there, I can see me losing a few wheels in this event LOL

Its not poor imo. Its easy to pick up and it can be fun. Thats the goal of the game not something most will turn away from because of the difficulty. Its fast and it can get crazy online. And it handles better than any NFS game including Pro Street which i own plus Carbon and Most wanted.

Maybe the last one did not sell well and they need something new to gain attention. A good reason why its not called Race Driver 4. Maybe you should give it more play tie and try all three challenges. Or perhaps your standards are too high i dunno.

A more realistic "sim" physics offers more complexity & variability to the game-play & therefore contributes to the long-term replay-ability. I think it would be really nice if, as in GT5P, there was a choice between a more arcade & a more sim physics - that would go a long way towards keeping everyone happy.
