I'll try it when I get home, but from the sound if it sounds like this game will be a FAIL as predicted and like NFS:PS... "Arcade" are such a cop out.

I don't think arcade is a bad at all. Look at Burnout and Motorstorm, but when we get this kind of watered down game, where it's presented as realistic in style and content, yet with the arcade handling, I'll take Prologue any time. Mind you, I'll reserve final judgement till I can play this game myself...

I'm getting the hang of it, but I with there was a bit more weight in the steering. It's not exactley hard to do, I'm not asking ofor GT5:P physics, just cars that at least handle like they weight more than the people driving them.

Well I hated it......then I had just one more go....and now I love it!
I felt the handleing was crazy quick and light at first then after about 40 laps it clicked, there is a lot off feed back from the car it's just that it comes at you thick and fast. once you calm it down and get used to the speed you can really start to pust the cars and put them where you want them, give it full welly and catch a bumpy bit of track and your going to be all over the place, same with the slow corners lock up or brake heavy whist turning, as soon as you let of the brakes it'll snatch you in. I think what you need to get into your head is these cars are racing cars and this isn't GT, think touring cars and your there LOL I had 3 sessions online 7 lap races over 3 events. absoloutly crazy, keep out of trouble in the first lap then open it up, had some fantastic scraps in the BMW! All that said this isn't a simulator....but neither is it an arcade racer...far from it! It's desighned for everyone to play and to get a feeling for speed, turn your assists off, turn on the pro physics and go in car (my usual setup) and you'll really apreciate this game, you really have to give it a good deal of time to get used to the feel as at first it'll feel like playing GT on speed LOL It's not a bettergame than GT, the graphics, sound and physics all fall short of the GT standard......but what did you expect! where this game shines is the way it drags you in to the adrenerlin rush of the actual race, take the muscle car down the stepped hill online with 3 guys around you....your trying to stop your eyes in your head bouncing whils keeping the car straight and trying to position yourself to grab a place through the next right hander,,,,,,pure drama and thats what makes the game so good.

it owns GT5:P. very similar to pgr4 or forza.

off the top of my head there's custom matches, voice chats, quick match, time trials, country flags, ext

I'm with you Hereward. I didn't like it at first but I went back and tried to 'learn' the handling and it started getting better. I don't see this as a game that I would prefer to GT5 but it's fun. Definitely worth giving the full game a shot IMHO.

* GRiD is 👍

* Damage system is 👍 👍 but not as good as I expected :guilty:. In 2 different races, not online, I saw in the replay exactly the same damage. This is not what I expected from what I read/heard in the interviews.

* Is it a simcade? I don't think so. It feels more like a arcade race IMHO. Cars are way too nervous.

* Graphics are very nice.

* Tried onlie and it is a blast! Starting at the end of the starting grid watching all the drivers crash is just ...!

* Sound of the car is a lot better than in GT5p (using a 7.1 system)

* Is it fun. Ohhh Yezzz! It's pure fun!

* Am I going to buy it? I don't think so! :indiff:

* Is the G25 compatible in the demo? NO!

:)

My G25 works with the demo. But cars feels like driving the Titanic. Two wheel turns to the right, two wheel turns to the left, half turn the the right and left to keep the car straight. Awful handling when using the G25.

Hows the physics? Is it like Toca 3?
Is there a Pro-Simulation (Physics) option like it had on Toca 3?
Also, are they going away with the real world classic tracks like Spa, Brands Hatch, Adelaide, etc? I love those tracks... if they did then no thanks.

i miss racing with those V8 Supercars

Edit: "Toca 3" overused... my bad lol

Yep, I found out myself.

To all others: don't activate your controler and it will work.
You can even set the G25 up to your likings. FFB, deadzone, saturation, 900 degrees on/off, etc... .

You know what... I'm sorry. This game is going to be a keeper, it's all kinds of WIN. Not only did they break their streak of games that didn't deliver on their promise, but they blew away what another developer's promise :cough: EA :cough: on their game. Seriously, this is what NFS:PS SHOULD'VE BEEN. They did everything well and even the physics although arcade it's not like DiRT or any other "arcade" racer I've played. It Kind of reminds me of a more out of control RM2 physics, but what makes it great is they captured the essenc of racing. I can't explain that, but basically... I feel much more compelled to play this over GT5p. I think I'd only fault them on having too much smoke, but [censored] they were able to do it with no frame rate drop so kudos to them. I'll definitely be buying this game for the 360 and be enjoying it. Hell, I even enjoyed the drift race. Codemasters you have my 👍👍 Good Job!!

I reckon you will see more damage in the full version.

Really got to point out this game is only the demo, GT5p is far more than a demo so stuff like the G25 and various other stuff is missing from it. also you really have to perservere with the handling, before it clicks and becomes natural. I would say this is PGR teritory but it's more.......(I love PGR3) Code masters waffled on about grid being all about the experience of racing, most just thought this was some kind of "soun bite" a catch phrase like GT's "the real driving simulator" but nope, after playing it I get what there trying to do here, you drive these cars on the edge and you "feel" like your on the edge, any second you could be tearing chunks out of your car and the tyre wall LOL It dose seem a little TOO fast at times but this is to give you the "feeling" of being on the edge, ie do 150mph down the straight and you real do apreciate that one wrong move could kill you, very quickly and violently, prety much like real life to be honest LOL I can't wait to see how some of the other cars handle, GT car down the straight at Le mans any one?
I realy like this game and hope to see a good few of you online soon think an impromptude GTP time trial is called for, see if one of us can get in the runing for that BMW!

First just to get any confusion out of the way this is an ARCADE racer not a simulation. While they might have tried to add some simulation it is an ARCADE racer.

I had a chance to play the Grid demo for about an hour online and offline and its going to be a great rental but not one I would buy.

The good news is that it is a lot like Toca 2, Toca 3, and also a lot like Dirt. There were 20 cars on the track at once which was nice. However the cars still seem to turn on a center axis just like in Dirt. The physics lean alot more toward arcade which isnt really a bad thing but keep that in mind when you play the game. Since its an arcade racer it will be a lot more forgiving.

The graphics are quite nice and the cockpit view is also very good just like Dirt. This is basically Dirt with open circuit cars instead of rally cars. The best part about this game compared to Dirt is that you actually see and talk to the other players on the track. At least they learned their mistake from Dirt and went back to the Toca 2 and Toca 3 roots. Smart move for sure.

The drifting is actually very easy and very forgiving compared to most other games. A lot easier to drift than Pro Street. The sounds are also very nice.

Overall I think its going to be a nice refreshing mix between Toca 2, Toca 3, and Dirt all into one game. Should be fun I just dont think it will be a purchase for me at this point.

The GRiD demo (much like DiRT demo) is terrible with the G25. There is a lot of tweaking you can do with the settings, but I really think it was designed to be used with a controller.

Well I finally had a go on it and my feelings are mixed...

The graphics, the lighting effects and the graphics to some degree are amazing but the damage was disappointing (Dirts damage is better) and the racing is not all that realistic.

Its all very Pro Street'y especially there idea of 'realistic' damage, I think the original Race Driver had better damage!

It also feels very arcadey, the cars are too twitchy and the rear wheel drive cars are seriously over done.

I was upset that Grid didnt have the beautiful user interface that dirt did (although there are hints of it here and there).. and THEY DIDNT HAVE MY NAME ON THE AUDIO SELECTION!!!

All in all I was expecting more, its excelled in some areas over dirt but fell behind in others, It does feel somewhat like an expansion as nothing have moved on..... but this is the demo.

Its way better than any other arcade racer out there at the moment but I think Codemasters has sold its soul to the kid ricers and left the original Toca fans behind. :indiff: After GT5P very little impresses unfortunately..

I honestly called the game explicit words aloud and quit after a few laps in the BMW race. WAY too arcady and twitchy which allows hardly any feel to know when the car is about to oversteer. I would love to have the physics back from the previous TOCAs.
