It sounds like you spent a lot of time tuning your own car to get it balanced, but with the Volvo you just messed around with it a bit: "oh yeah, with the right settings it will be faster so this spec will be fine". Like Spurgy said you were guessing the specs based on a rough tuning setup you assumed people would be using/figure out for themselves. If you want to do something at least do it right, it's like you just got bored halfway through the specing and everything else was just "oh, that'll do".

I'm serious, yes. I asked others to see what they thought of it... No one did.
The problem is, I can't drive it very well, and I'm making no attempt to hide the fact. But, hey, I tried to drive it, and got it wrong. Fact is, though, I'm making the change now, with substantial proof that it's wrong. People have been murmuring about BMW specs... Well, you wanted a change, here it is.

I am not moaning about the change, I am mad because its taken you this long to make the decision, and that only now you are openly admitting to be struggling to drive a car I assumed you were working closely with others to spec correctly.

The situation was you couldn't drive the car quickly consistently because its a tough one to tame (unless you make it slower with ballast), so you decided to make it faster than everything else to compensate. This is fair to an extent, but if you do this to me surely you were just asking for trouble. It was obviously going to cause complications down the line and when you realised (you should have done during testing) this you should have just scrapped it from the series straight away. In what other GTP series do you see a car that has been spec'd in this way?

Mel, if you're going to BS specs... Should probably just act like you've done some work. This happens every ITCC season guys.

Just give it some time to blow over.

Here's my breakdown of the itcc seasons:

S1 preseason (Long enough to warrant its own)- tons of fun
S1- Great until round like 3 then bleh
S2- Good then prizes went down and mel quit
S2.1- Kinda fun lol then we just let it die
S3- When some corny stuff started.. Meh overall IMO.. Whiskey having his own car, etc. Spec issues.. Braun
S4- Older cars, some spec issues again, questionable driving
S5- In progress

All seasons- Spec fights, lag fights, questionable driving at times, but you get it

But still for some reason S1 preseason was really fun, and I think that's why we all still look at this and turn up to a race or two every season.

EDIT: I know it looks negative, but the point is this isn't new and they seem to have powered through it so

Are you serious?

4 rounds in you decide to change the specs on a car you admit to never properly driving/testing yourself when the majority consistently said it would be OP during the whole 3 months of pre-season testing you had.

Then you start negotiating on your proposed changes - the series host being influenced by some people who have not even been seen on track in ITCC yet. Where is your backbone??

Not really true, that's just what people who make mistakes all the time say, blaming it on the setup.
A balanced setup that makes the car comfortable for you makes you more consistent
That's a quote from Mario Andretti

Sad thing is it doesn't look like much progress has been made in terms of overall improvement or quality. Remember when ITCC5 was stated as going to be "The best season ever" and "The start of the golden Era of ITCC". 3 was the best for me, at least you always had 10+ grid races.

I can't control grid sizes.

I can do my best for specs, but if I need help specing a car, then you guys need to help. It's easy to blame me for all of this, but I would put some blame on others, too... I'm sorry, but I never once said that the BMW was spec'd correctly nor did I say that I could drive the BMW. Next season, there won't be any FR cars. None.

Why didn't you ask people to help in the month of "preseason testing" you supposedly had

Just get some people who can drive FR cars to help spec them.

I was wondering if I could switch to the Mini. I want to find a way to beat the BMW (my time 51.6 in the BMW)
You can test the MINI, but I think the BMW is better suited to you... You might not get a 51.6 with the MINI, unless you get a good setup. I can give you pointers...

My best was 52.2 and I might as well get more experience in an FF because there are no more FR's for next season.

Edit: Thanks, I could use the help in tuning an FF.

@ITCC_Andrew I gave you my preseason BMW Test-Results which where:

Car is fast but wants to kill you all the time => needs a good Setup, but still then it´s tricky. Add Tire-wear and its even more tricky.

Roughly like this was my output on driving the Beemer around Ascari (I think best Test-Track).
I was on the edge of picking it but to be consistant in it, you have to have MAJOR focus and for me thats fun but no fun too :D

You should give the BMW a longer first gear while your at it..

It'll kill off the Fwd cars and become a Rwd championship if you don't.. :grumpy:

51.4 on RM's in the Beemer with some time to find.

Car isn't that hard to drive actually...I even had all my ballast at the back too and even with success ballast the car is fine, only when I added ballast on RH I had to be a little bit careful on the kerbs but got used to it.

50.9 on RM but lost 0.1 in the final sector with another tenth to find elsewhere, 51.1 with full ballast.

51.7 on RH, 52.1 with full ballast.

This isn't a track where you'll notice instability, try Madrid :P

After many hours of practice, I ended up beating the BMW's lap time by one tenth.

Wait so we're down to 3 races now? I dunno since it still says 4 in the OP and 3 was mentioned in the thread earlier.

Even though I don't have a number I'm taking #51.
