French Roulette, it's a bit like Russian Roulette, but no harm done. Actually, it's nothing like Russian Roulette, and I only called it French because we'll be doing it at Alsace Village.
The car... Honda's splendid S660. Full level up changes available, but tuning prohibited.
The tyres... C/M, no degradation. (Fuel set to 10X).
The principle of the game...
Prior to the race (which will be 5 laps in each case) we all quit into the lobby where adjustments can be made.
Each racer decides how much power to have. Minimum 175%, max 235% (weight can be anything you want).
We all jump on track at the same time.
The person who has chosen the least power gets 50 points and pole position. The next lowest receives 48 points and second place on the grid etc, until the person who has chosen the highest power goes to the back of the grid and gets the appropriate number of points, depending on how many are racing.
In the case of two or more people choosing exactly the same amount of power they share the total points they would have received. (ie, if three players choose the lowest possible power, then there are 50 points, 48 points and 46 points to be had, totalling 144 points. Spread among them this is 48 points each. I will roll a dice to decide their grid positions.)
If someone picks the lowest power setting, without anyone else matching it, that driver will receive two bonus points.
Then, we race. At the end of the race everyone who didn't win (that'll be most of us) will lose a point for every full second they were behind the winner. It will be possible (but somewhat unlikely) for someone to come last and still gain the most points in the race!
There will be one bonus point for the fastest lap.
After each race we will all be able to change our power settings to try to gain a strategic edge.
Folks, I'm really quite proud of this formula because it is unique in my experience, and will make racing right until the very end important no matter what position you are in. The Honda is a smashing little mover, and can handle the power well.
I'm already looking forward to it.
Slipstream and track edge grip will be set to real, light mechanical damage, but no visible damage. Driving line and ABS available, all other assists off.
Oh, yes, and we will have rolling starts...
Cheers, Zo.
