Which one is it?

Did you get to see the Pacific Racing Team's drifting cars up close? :D

Suzuka SuperGT race and possibly try for others depending on my work schedule.
Great choice having the signature race of the series as your first race that you went to in person.:sly:👍

Who is the pacific racing team?? The winner was Daichi in his Monster Mark X (Is that a Toyota??)
Dunno about the 2 Pacific D1 drivers, but one of them was in a Girls und Panzer liveried car while the other was behind the wheel of a car with the Love Live School Idol Project livery. Ask in The General Anime Thread if you have any more questions on this. ;)

So.. on the subject of Le Mans... it was an interesting experience, and one I'm glad I can say I've done, but not one I'll do again. Too many people for what's there, and not enough of an experience to put up with the overcrowding. In my opinion 263,500 spectators is too much for the location and the venue, and that has a knock-on effect on everything. And, honestly some of the behavior I witnessed in the campsite was basically out of order - not just crazy (as the N24 is), but dangerous too...

In most ways I can think of the N24 was a better experience. I love LMP racing, and this year was great from that point of view... but I'll happily skip the 24 and catch it at Silverstone instead.

And, honestly some of the behavior I witnessed in the campsite was basically out of order - not just crazy (as the N24 is), but dangerous too...

Our little GTP contingent can testify to this, when the driver of an Audi Q5 of all things tried drifting it in the campsite about 150 yards from our tents on Sunday night. Long story short he lost control, broke/ran over a couple of our tents and I'm still here because I happened to go to the loo at the right moment, whilst Danny is still alive because he happened to be asleep in the opposite end of the tent to where the Audi came to rest. No injuries to anyone, fortunately (apart from the driver, who got punched by a guy that saw it all from one of our neighbouring camps...)

It always seems to be British people being :censored:s, too. I can't recall seeing people of any other nationality doing anything that would potentially hurt others. They might hurt themselves, that's their lookout, but others weren't endangered.

Suffice to say we're thinking of going to the Classic instead next year.

Beausejour?

A lot of that was happening just down from my tent. Bimmers mostly, and an MR2.... and an armchair towed by a bike... and a fat man towed by a bike...

... and also this on Friday morning...

Pretty close to @Clark too I think.

edit: should also mention... Glad you're both okay 👍

Real Asshat behavior, glad someone got lamped for it.

Marshalling or Spectating at the ePrix? How was it? Had it not been a BTCC weekend I would have gone.

edit: Croft added to my list.
Marshal, I haven't properly spectated as such since the 2009 Silverstone Classic

Interesting to hear the stories about the LM24. I have full intentions to go, but it does sound like some people were being nothing short of absurd this year.

Here are the Motorsport events that I have attended and the ones that I am planning to.

N.B - Planned events in Italic

2013

British MotoGP - Silverstone

2015

British GT Media Day, Brands Hatch (Indy)
WEC of Great Britain, Silverstone - Met @Roo there. A pleasure!
World RX of Great Britain, Lydden Hill
Formula E Season 2 Testing, Donington Park
BRSCC, Brands Hatch (Indy)
World RX of Barcelona, Circuit de Catalunya

I don't know exactly the events I have been to because I forget how many times I have been there. But I have seen every Blancpain race at Silverstone, but before the Blancpain started I want to the British GT at Silverstone. To make up for missing the British GT at Silverstone the past couple of years, I have been going to the donigton round. I have been to two WEC races, 2013 and 2015 at Silverstone.

I can't travel very far so I have to stick to my local tracks. Silverstone, donigton, malery park. I have been going to race meetings with my dad all my life.

I am also keen in speedway and love going to see my local team Coventry Bees!

Well that's another to add to my list. DTM at Zandvoort. I have to say Zandvoort is a real mixed bag... In some ways it's a great venue, in others, it's shocking. Watching from the dunes is interesting, and actually works quite well, and there are some really good views to be had, however it's pretty neglected and weather beaten. Facilities aren't great and the parking situation was a joke. But, the in circuit bars really helped to add to the atmosphere, and went a long way to making up for the other negatives. The track itself I don't think is conducive to hard racing, but I like the layout, and it certainly suits BMW DTM cars :)

A friend of mine took me to the Super GT event at California Speedway. We only live about thirty miles away from Fontana. I'm glad we went as they never came back stateside. I remember at one point we came down to the inside fence at the exit of one of the slower corners to take pictures. As the GT500 cars went by we just nodded smiling to each other as their was no conversation to be had over the sound, but as the GT300 Nissan Z's came by both of us fell to the floor holding our heads. I still can't believe how loud those cars were in comparison. We quickly moved back to the bleacher after that. Great day it was.

Spa-Froncorchamps for the 24hr race added to this years tally.. now only domestic BTCC rounds to go and I'll have achieved my goal.. muhahahaha

Nice mix this year :D 👍

I have just four races I've been to.

2005 A1 Grand Prix, Brands Hatch
2007 Race of Champions, Wembley
Both 2015 London ePrix, Battersea Park

At a stretch you could also say the 2004 London F1 demo. Though this year's Goodwood probably doesn't count.
I suppose the next Race of Champions might be the next one to come.

(Boy I hope I haven't forgotten anything)

ROC coming back to the UK?

I was genuinely interested in going this year, but it really does constitute daylight robbery.

I'll be at about £300 by the time I've booked the trains, it's stupid - but that's London prices. As I recall they struggle to fill the stadium when they do it in the UK... you could always risk it for a biscuit and try and get cheap tickets on the day.

Bathurst 1000: 2005, 2006, 2007
Australian GP: 2012, 2013
Singapore GP: 2015
Bathurst 12 hr: 2015
VLN Nordschleife: 2010
Goodwood Festival of Speed: 2010
A1 Grand Prix Eastern Creek: Years ago

Other V8 Supercar events:
Canberra (a long time ago)
Wakefield Park (ditto)
Eastern Creek/Sydney Motorsport Park: Multiple times
Homebush: 2013, 2014

+ countless smaller races in Australia

Plan for 2016 is Bathurst 12 hr, Australian GP, Hungarian GP, Rally Australia

I think I'm more jealous of the remembering of dates.

All before kids, so some 7+ years ago...
  • Spanish F1 GP
  • Hockenheim - old track F1 GP
  • Silverstone F1 GP
  • Donnington BTCC
  • Donnington - Superbikes
  • WRC in Wales (three years on the trot) - Think McRae era
  • Prescott Hillclimb
And in Australia...
  • Noosa Hillclimb (more Queensland local stuff)
  • Lakeside classic (more Queensland local stuff), two of these.
  • Rally of Queensland
  • Gold Coast Indy 300 (V8s and Indy cars, last year they raced there)
Overall, I'd say of my experiences I'd rate highest to lowest:
  1. BTCC & V8 - so touring cars
  2. The old WRC rally in Wales, with night stages etc
  3. Local racing @ Lakeside Classic
  4. Hilclimb racing
  5. Modern, nanny state, rally stages where you get to see nowt.
  6. F1 - wouldn't go and watch another by choice unless a bargain/holiday.

Oulton Park BTCC - 2002 onwards.
British GT Oulton Park - 2005 onwards.
HSCC Oulton Park Gold Cup - 2004 onwards.
VSCC Hawthorn Memorial Trophies - 2007 onwards.
BSB Oulton Park - 2007.
UKTA Oulton Park - 2008 onwards.
Speedhunters European Drift Championship 2009 Round 1 - 2009.
Multiple British club races (HSCC, AMOC, BRSCC, MSVR) - more than I can count/remember. I started watching as a toddler in 2003.
D1RC Round 1 (Oulton Park) - 2010.
BRCA 1/10 Off Road Round 1 (Southport) - 2013. (Worked as a marshal and scrutineer as well as spectating).
BRCA NW Regional 1/10 Off Road (Southport) - 2013. I competed as well as spectating. Worst day of heats I've ever had, walked away with a Final win though. :D
oOple Open Off Road Series (oOoos) Southport - 2013. Again, competed as well as spectated. 2 extremely long, tiring days, ending in a horrible Sunday which led to me cutting the weekend short.

Just booked tickets and accommodation for the ROC.

Too expensive and it will never be worth it.. but why not

I recall enjoying it when I saw it in Paris in 2006 (it worked out cheaper than going to Wembley in '05 would have done... go figure) but I can't say it was £300 good. I suppose doing it once is worth it just to see what it's about but I'm not sure I'd ever bother again.

In other news, added last weekend's Bathurst 1000 to my list.

I've never went to a race event before in my life....

But If i ever went to race event for the first time, i guess it could be the "WEC 6 hours of Bahrain" since i don't like the today's F1 and the last time the V8 Supercars hosted here was back in 2010 when i was at 5th Grade...
