Racing Modification/ Race Modified Cars

that's right

But you can give a normal elise some extra BHP and you'll win with ease.

So if I tune my normal Elise for example with everything. After that, I'll race mod it. Can I equip all the parts later on (of course those which won't be modded with the race mod)? Will these parts that will be overwritten still be available for equipping on another car?

Bro, my Silvia rm only had 456hp after I bought everything possible. Am I missing something? Do I need to race the car more or make some additional settings? Thanks.

I just converted the Euro numbers from the OP... so there will be some small differences. But also HP goes up a bit once you break the car in. My ZR1 RM came with 890-something and after driving it the power floated up to 908.

All i can tell you is that a race mod includes some tuning (adds certain parts). I don't know what happens with the parts you bought before a race mod.

Either way: I would recommend race modding the elise, because it transforms a (imo) horrible oversteer disaster in a race monster with incredible grip.

You guys do realize you can RM standard cars!

Unless this feature was quietly added with the last update, and literally nobody has noticed it until now... I advise against making knowingly false statements. As per the AUP.

my fav race mod on the Z28 Camaro
MADCAP, these pics look almost identical to some I took this afternoon...👍 👍 Except I didn't get the flames. :(

On a side note, if I may...
Has anyone picked up on the 69 Camaro body mods. ??
They favoured the styling of the 68 Camaro, eg = rounded guards. ;)
Front and rear trim appear to be period '69 correct, as in headlights and tail lights. It looks way better in my opinion LOVE it.

I believe it's not possible to take on the new seasonal event - Lotus Elise 111R with a race modified car. Can anyone confirm that?

I can confirm this. You can't use the RMed Elise 111R for the new seasonal event race.

The car is ok to drive, not super fast bit dissapointing but overall it looks good with colour combo of choice

I fully tuned my 69 Camaro, but haven't RMed it yet. If I do, will I lose all the tuning parts I bought for it, just like it says?

EDIT: Sorry for double post.. don't ban me!

The RM comes with many parts including full gearbox, LSD, race exhaust, and downforce. The only bummer to doing the RM with a modified car is the money was wasted on the parts which will be included with the RM. Shouldn't be too much money lost.

P.S. I have noticed when you purchase a part but don't install it, the part goes to the "items" list on the GT Mode menu. I think the extra parts will not go to the items if you do the RM on your 69 Camaro, it will just be wasted money, probably around $80k tops.

Best way is to RM first, then buy whatever that was not included in the RM pack. If you do it the other way around, you will end up paying for the RM parts twice.

the engine has to be broken in and oil change offen it helps. mines at 520HP

By far one of my all time favourites at present. :) Just a shame we can't use them for Japanese/European/Germany Championships...
Here's a couple of quick pics of mine. You understand, I'm a paint freak, and have had several paint jobs. ;)

Enjoy. :)

What is the practical difference between the 2 RM Corvettes? It appears subtle differences in weight / power, and white vs. silver paint on the rear section?

NO seriously i think it let me do a car but i didn't give it enought attention ill check its still in my garage. Unless its a mistake ill check and let you guys know if it was a standard car! ASAP

Edit:i had many standards cars, and this was when i got the game so i think it might of been my mistake sorry for the post! but if anyone has a standard car a little click on the RM wont hurt :)

How do you change the colour of the race mod cars? Everytime i go to race mod a car the colour is white and black. It's probably obvious when someone points it out but i for the life of me cannot find out how.

are you kidding me!!! They bring back a feature people have asked for ever since it vanished after GT2 (right?), and they limit it to 15!!!!!!!! cars out of +1000.... FIFTEEN!!! why bring it back at all!?

absolutely agree 100% they shouldnt have even botherd, all the credits ive waisted trying to race spec different cars its just awful ! ... and so little cars u can put the full amout of aero parts on too that will give you a steady drive.. Qs i would like to choose my own GT F1 colours?, that would be so awesome because theres obviously three distinctive spaces for colour change on these cars and im sure F1 fans would love this option ?:)

I found it odd that you cannot use a RM Lotus Elise 111R for the new bonus race, especially when the race description notes "this event has no tuning restrictions". It kinds stinks having to buy another 111R and mod it up to win this event...really lessens the return investment.

As a side note...I'm going to hold off on this race until the second set of bonus races get retired (I think it's 1/12/11). Perhaps PD will slip in an update and allow us to use the RM version of the car.

Last night I purchased all 17 cars that can be race modified and the total cost of the cars plus RM came to just under 4,000,000 Cr. I already owned 5 of them but bought them all again so they would all be together in the garage (OCD!) I also benchmarked them all at the Tsukuba track before applying any other tuning upgrades other than racing soft tyres on all. I left the settings as 'default' and disabled all driving aids except 1 for TC and 1 for ABS on all.

I will post up the lap times and further comments later but they range from 0:54 sec for the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 to 1:11 sec for the Suzuki Cappuccino.

My favourites, out of the box, were the Integra DC5, (great early acceleration out of tight corners - just like real life) the Camaro Z28 (even if it was a dog to drive it would still be a favourite for it's looks and sound!) and Elise 111R (Fantastic in every way, much better than the S1 Elise).

The Dodge Challenger '70 was the biggest surprise lapping in around 57 secs. The worst car by a country mile was the TVR Tuscan, horrible understeer followed by snap oversteer and surprisingly slow, definitely needs tweaking and possibly the Skid Recovery force!). The Acura NSX was also not as fast and keen to turn in as I would have imagined (a normal NSX-R on racing softs is quicker).

All of these RM cars felt like they would benefit hugely from some decent setting up (why are default tuning settings in GT5 so awful?!) and all but the ZR1 from some more power from engine tuning. An LSD would be good on some too.

Just my first thoughts.
