Rain & Snow in Gran Turismo 5 - [UPDATED] finally, officially confirmed!!!!!

I don't want to quote that huge picture with the McLaren and snow. But is that a special paint scheme or something? That lambo in the back of the picture apparently has blue in the front, red in the middle and white in the back...A special edition, or simply a funky paint job?

Please do I don't have a clue what your on about

That picture is NOT GT5.

mmm... I think from inside the car, YES
From uotside, 50-50... I explain. The rain effect in the ground is incredible, and also the lights. But, I've noticed that the cars look dry :dunce:
I put an example...

Looks fine to me.

That would be very nice! might take the time to just stop in the middle of a race and listen to the rain, maybe rev the engine a bit, i think they compliment each other ;)

Not just the sound of the rain hitting the ground, but the different sound you hear from the tires contacting a wet surface, as opposed to dry.

1.I still think it was, cause you were asking if it was raining would the wipers work and i said why wouldn't they.

2.You then agreed that it was a stupid question after pingwhen said, it is like asking if the lights will work when its night time.

3.About the standards not having working wipers is something i already knew that was going to happen as there isn't a cockpit view, and well that's just common sense if you ask me.

No hard feelings mate. :)

well it sort of was but i meant for both standard and premium which it turns out is in doubt...but yeah no hard feelings :)

Just a thought:

Dodge Viper + Nurburgring + no TCS + Snow = Epic hell?

I would love too see lots of wheelspin on the rain and snow. GT4 has Tsukba Wet, but I never really felt wheelspin, just reduced handling, braking and accelerating.

Apart windshields, do the cars in GT5 get wet on rain? The video from PGR4 on the first post clearly shows wet cars. However, I'm not sure whether a car at 300 Km/h should be visibly wet because of its speed. The wind should "dry" it.

I hope so, because that would be the finishing touch for the most realistic rain/snow ever seen in a racing game!

Do we know if the weather is going to be dynamic, i.e. where it will start and stop raining/snowing randomly? Or is it going to be like a track option that you select up front - Laguna Seca normal or Laguna Seca rain? So if you pick rain then it will rain at the same intensity for the whole race?

I'm curious about the same thing with day & night driving - do you pick daytime La Sarthe vs. nighttime La Sarthe?

Thanks!! I searched, but didn't find current information. And all these threads have multiple pages so it's hard to stay up to date, sorry. :)

Fixed for you mate ;) 👍

The weather system is fully dynamic. PD says it is very "advanced" and creates rain or snow by data of temperature, humidity, etc. So yes, it will start/stop to rain/to snow absolutely randomely during a race.

That is amazing. I really cannot wait much longer, the game is so mysterious but they've said all they could.

How about:

2010 Pagani Zonda R + Nurburgring Nordschleife + No TCS, ABS, ASM, Active Steering, Racing Line, and Professional Physics + snow. A LOT of snow.

That will be a drive of my life.

Exactly my question!

We will find out soon!

Didn't Kaz say that dynamic weather is for endurance races only?

And it would be a bit odd if the weather changed during a 3-lap race..

Going from a snow storm to a clear summer day, that would be strange over 3 laps.

Starting in the rain, and 2 laps later being left on a wet track but without rainfall is perfectly logical.

In any case, I'm glad to know that weather is random and most importantly, it changes car performance. I guess this is the closest thing to physics related news I can get until I actually get the game.

Didn't think of it in that way. That would be great actually.

I believe the dynamic weather and dynamic day/night is only available on certain track's and or race distances, + the track editor
I would think in normal races (less than 5 lap's) most of the track's will be daytime with certain night only track's possibly with selectable weather

Do you guys think we will have set weather as well as dynamic?

Its just I would like to do a race in arcade and make it rain or snow.

People complaining about the grass being slippery in GT5? Just wait till you try it in the wet :sly:

GT5 seems to have nailed the spray trail look

I hope that Polyphony Digital adds raindrops to the chassis' of all the vehicles. That is the main thing that made the weather effects in PGR4 seem so realistic.

It would also make the replays even more amazing. :sly:
