Rain & Snow in Gran Turismo 5 - [UPDATED] finally, officially confirmed!!!!!

The thread is very much relative now, Still left with some questions

- Will every track have weather affects
- Will snow only be on rally courses
- Will there be standing water
- How will standard cars be affected, will there wipers work
:)

Actually I believe there was one quick shot in the trailer that featured a bumper camera view during snow (that or the most boring cockpit camera ever), and there was a wiper with snow collecting on the sides of the screen. Not too different from RDR's screen when you aim it upwards in the rain.

From,
Chris.

Thanks. ;)

I think that there will be standing water and the physics applied to it will be staggering to be sure!

Any news about the total track count or if rain and snow will be on all courses in static or dynamic form?

If you look at the weather vid (http://www.gran-turismo.com/jp/news/d9815p2.html) at 00:16 you can see the car in front of you, then there seems to be a splash, then it all clears up. Possibly a puddle, or standing water on the track?

i did not know that snow was in the game until the tgs trailers today...i was like, what? is that SNOW? holy cow, it's SNOWING. snow, rain, night, and night+rain...seriously i don't know how pd pulled it off.

It'd be extremely cool if B Spec had some kind of rain radar... like current F1 has... then as the Race Team Manager you could make a tyre call...

No and no.

"*Note that not all courses will incorporate these visual effects."
"*Note that windshield wipers will only operate on premium model cars."

I'm pretty sure weather weather will be available on most tracks (apart from those which arnt in a location physically possible to have snow). Having wipers only work on some cars is crazy, its PD's "some this some that" taken to the extreme. Tusbuka in GT4 had standing water and no rain.

No one so far has mentioned FOG, Looking at the trailer I'm sure you can have Fog as a weather condition (without rain). That would be great because corners and the rears of other cars would appear out of no where. Fog at night would also be epic seeing the rear lights in the distance!

I think they left out the working wipers for standard cars because they don't have a cockpit view anyway.

edit:tree'd

so my question wasn't stupid killa aaron :)

1.I still think it was, cause you were asking if it was raining would the wipers work and i said why wouldn't they.

2.You then agreed that it was a stupid question after pingwhen said, it is like asking if the lights will work when its night time.

3.About the standards not having working wipers is something i already knew that was going to happen as there isn't a cockpit view, and well that's just common sense if you ask me.

No hard feelings mate. :)

so after all polyphony topped or not the incredible weather effects of PGR4 ?

mmm... I think from inside the car, YES
From uotside, 50-50... I explain. The rain effect in the ground is incredible, and also the lights. But, I've noticed that the cars look dry :dunce:
I put an example...

But... it's not 3 Nov yet! :sly:

Yeah, in the video of the guy playing the floor demo from TGS when he switches to outside view the car looks a bit cut out from the spray especially around the wheels.

well hopefully with the full feature implementation of dirt and dust on cars they will look more like they belong in the rain.

Very good news!

This makes me a bit nervous though: "*Note that windshield wipers will only operate on premium model cars."

Will we have to drive blind with standard cars in heavy weather conditions?

That just looks like car bukkake. Water is not white, it's clear.

I thought that the spray looked poor (in comparison to everything else). And the track looked identical even when cars went through it. Not like f12010.

But I would need to see more.

I wonder is the rain audible, not that its in the slightest bit important, but would be one of those nice touches.

That would be very nice! might take the time to just stop in the middle of a race and listen to the rain, maybe rev the engine a bit, i think they compliment each other ;)
