Rallying in GT5.

I'd rather burn the $$.
I've noticed there are no Rally events in GT5:P, and no announcements on it's presence in GT5, and i'm wondering if it will be left out this time around.

I think this may be the case because of all the work they're putting in other things, especially the road Physics, will they have time for rally?

If rally is included in the end, what inprovements could be made?

I think you'll all remeber that rally has always had a maximum of 2 cars on track at once, and I think we should see an impovement with the PS3's Cell power, maybe not 16 cars but 10 would be nice.
Also there are the smoke effects, the time the dust lasted in GT4 was a few seconds, buy with 10 cars on track at once could this be improved? Especcially if they do aero physics and get the dirt to move around the car as they move through it.
Terrain deformation, like in MotorStorm, this would be pretty cool, as it very much was not just eye candy, you actually could get 'stuck' in them and it would mess up the handling.

What about proper stages?
In all previous GT games the rally tracks were all circuits, apart from the exception of Pikes Peak (which should be included in GT5 as a Rally 'ring of sorts), Although I think these kind of events wouldn't allow multiplayer, they could be for time trials.

Maybe even different handling on different terrain, not just snow and dirt.

What are your thoughts???💡

I expect there to be snow and dirt.

They can't put everything in prologue now!

i hope the dirt physics are greatly improved and they have more options for tires

I hope they make rally events in GT5 the rally in previous GT's was great for it's time so I can't imagine how it would be in GT5!

I love rally and all but it would be nice to have bike events in GT5

well I'm with you Matt.

I would love to have ferrari and ducati on track together.

i believe we will get TT2 instead, which isnt a bad thing at all

now im hated

No, do not combine bikes and cars together because they require entirely different physics engines. I'd wager that if there was bikes in the game they wouldn't feel even remotely close to how bikes are supposed to feel. PD just needs to make TT2 with the GT5 graphics engine and we will be set.

As for rallying, I don't care whether they keep it or dump it, I never really liked the rally races and only did them to get through the game. It wasn't anything that I would do numerous times.

Well I for one love rally racing because it's so much fun to drift around the corners (and not have the annoying tire screeching) on the dirt tracks. In fact they should include a few more dirt tracks as well as plenty more rally cars, and if they had a livery shop they could include so called "blank canvas" cars that are rally-spec, but just have plain solid color paint jobs so you could add your designs.

Oh, no bikes in GT5 because it would have a sort of Midnight Club vibe to it....

I'd prefer PD concentrate on tarmac racing and if they really like Rally, they can make another game, a proper one instead of the "2 laps" challenges from GT3/4. Colin McRay's Dirt's graphics and locations in Richard Burn's Rally's physics and feel comes to mind. I'd be down for that as well.

We dont Need TT. we need GT with bikes. rally just looks nice but has always been kinda weak. I would be great to have bikes and cars on the ring. TT was great but GT should have bikes not rally

I don't mind rally, as I see the GT series as a tribute to many racing legasies, I would like it to be more niches like rally in the game. But I would like an improvment in the physicsengine when it comes to understanding differensial mechanics, aspesialy in AWD's. They realy should improve that for tarmac racing as well, but it's a necessity for the gravel scene to seem real. THey should also fix handbrake physics too.

I'm personaly no big fan of bikes, but I wouldn't see it as a problem if it were to end up in the game, like I've said, a tribute to many legasies. I don't even think it would never be like MNC either, 'cause PD is so thorough in everything they put in this series, and I think if anyone could make it work it would have to be them.

I hated the dirt and snow rally track's the only one's i like'd wore the city track's. I would rather have some touge mountain track's in GT5 like in initial D.

You know there is a game called Tourist Trophy? :dunce:

I hate all these kids who wants bikes in GT..

sry for double post!

Yea broe... And it wouldnt be to realistic if you had 10 WRC cars on one course. Polyphony is more likely taking there time and dwelling deeper into the detail and authentic side of rally which maybe one reason weve heard nothing about it yet.

Agree on the rallypart.

On that note i might how ever be cool with maybe some rallyX races, for fun. But thats just me though. Can't remember how many cars are on track at a time then from 4-12 I think.

Another thing I would like to see is hillklimbing, short and long tracks, both tarmac and gravel.

If rallying is in the final game - and I hope so, because it's a great form of motrosport - then I'd like to see something akin to proper rally. None of this one-on-one rallyscross stuff we get, but actual, proper rallying against yourself and against the clock just as much as against the competition.

PD are like REALLY REALLY BUSY

so GT should have, regular cars (and tuned) and tracks, rally (cars+tracks), f1s (cars+tracks), motorcycles (bikes+tracks) and so on...

BRING IT ON :P

Is that so??? I love rally in GT, I enjoy rally more in GT4 than in Colin McRae Dirt....

EDIT: It's not the right thing to mix bikes and cars I think! But I'd love If they make a new TT!

Hi all!

My name is Eneko Zelaieta and im from Basque Country, near Spain and im new in this forum and in GT5 world and Prologue too :)

Im big fan of PC Simulations like RBR, LFS and GPL but now.

When y see GT5 Prologue come out in the next week in europe y bought inmediatly a PS3 and a LCD TV to run it, becouse my PC Monitor doesnt support HDCP and PS3... bad happens...

So, in one week this community have new member in my person :sly:

Now...

Talking about Rallye in anterior GT's, honestly y doesnt like the surface physics in GT3 and GT4 becouse, the car seems like it hasnt got any type of grip level in general and the car is all the time oversteering every where.

I think if Kazunori and others have planned to add this feature and mod to the GT5 Simulator, they take the necessary time for the surface and car physics and test all with a proffesional Rallye driver like for example japan Toshihiro Arai who drives some years ago with the Subaru WRT Official Team :)

Nothing more to say in general, y cant wait to start driving in GT5 Prologue! :)

Regards for all community!!

Yes I agree, official WRC style. But unfortunately they would still have a mode were 2+ cars could be on one track just to attract the Dirt or arcade crowd... I believe.

Dirt had waaaaaaaay more legit and true to life rally events than GT has ever had. And IMO, if GT is still gonna have offroad-super-special type tracks, and side by side racing, they should throw in some CORR buggies and trucks to add some realism to the rally side of things.
The way the game is now, it feels like PD focuses on the tarmac side of things, then unloads a bunch of rally cars, with mediocre rally courses. As others have stated, I'd rather see the addition of bikes, or more track racing cars if they're still gonna have the unrealistic 1 on 1 rally races.

Maybe true, but GT is for cars and TT is for bikes. I dont want PD to take there focus off there heritage just to add some bikes to a car driving/racing sim serious. It seems like a Project Gotham 4 move which I was a fan of the origninal and PGR2 was my favorite. After that it went down hill with PGR3 being moderate and 4 going back to the store after a couple weeks. Not to mention I bought PGR4 after reading the bad reviews just because I was a hardcore fan of the serious. I guess thats what happens when you change something thats perfectly fine or as some say "If it aint broke dont fix it".

I think they should concentrate on Grand Tour racing instead; at least stick to cars!

I always thought rally was out of place in GT, always seemed like an afterthought. And with all the overhauls they need to do for the GT series v.5, I think no one would miss the rally games with quality titles such as Dirt already out to satisfy rally fans.

Then again, they already have the Eiger track + rally cars in the game, so it's a moot point now...

Rally FTW!
Dakar, WRC, Score off road, Pikes Peak and all the rest, rallying is an important part of the driving circle so GT has to have it.

Very true, but by the same token, they should do a better job with course design to stay true to real life offroad racing. For a company that's seemingly obsessed with knit-picky details, it's always baffled me that PD has never revamped the rally races in GT in order to replicate the feel of a real rally event.

I love rally and all but it would be nice to have bike events in GT5
Why? Why would you want bikes on GT game? Just the name "GT" is car related and putting bikes on there wouldn't be right. Thats why there is TT or "Tourist Trophy", a name related to Bikes. Then also Bikes require a much different physics level so that won't be possible to implement the two. Besides, Who wants to race bikes against cars?

As for rally in GT5, I do want it. Those are fun to drive. I don't really have a problem driving on the courses they've had so far so I have no problem and I would love it if they had real rallies alongside the ones I know well like Smokey mountain and Tahiti maze.

Well I would think that its a little more complicated than just getting up in the morning and doing it. You have to note the fact that all this content was on PS1 and PS2 which is impressive till this day. All so credit should be given to them because they added the rally feature, (which is extremely diverse from the traditional road racing) and it did not effect the main focus of the game what so ever. Nor did it take away from the content so theyve always had my kudos when it comes to that.

All so I never cosidered rally to be the main focuses of the game. More like a side carreer or a diverse challenge, while beating everything so I can get a hold of those F1 type cars or the LeMans. The road racing is considerably deeper. You may have to complete a whole league before you even see an official racecar. But when it comes to rally, completing one series will get you into the official real deal rally machine. Point being I dont think its a last minute thing or I dont think the cant get it right. There doing what is needed carefully so they dont make to much of a change but also keeping a variety of racing league styled races available for the diverse crowd who play the game. I do want and believe PD is making the rally more "official" but I know if they dwell too deep this may take away from the other variety of race series types they may have up there sleeves.
