Mugen Accord Wagon:

Well, I must say I didn't find anything bad except little power and non-racing looks. I rate it 75/100.

Next car: hmmm... What can you say about... Suzuki Escudo? :)

Suzuki Escudo: 73/100

This car has it all going for it: an awesome paint scheme, bodywork, four-wheel drive, not much weight, and 981hp! A sizable spoiler completes the look. Built for the Pike's Peak dirt climb challenge, it does a magnificent job at tackling dirt courses. Unfortunately, you do need a racing driver or mechanic in the boot that is the equivalent of Stirling Moss or even Hans Herrmann; this car is almost out of control with its ridiculous power-to-weight ratio, and it really is too much for a game such as GT2 to drive and enjoy, as it overpowers all cars before it.

Put simply, it is overrated in terms of the game (its Cultus stablemate actually handles better), and it is a shame, as it makes a fine car in reality. A real majestic mountain, worn down by n00bs getting a hold of one and blowing the competition, then masquerading as real drivers.

Next Car: Suzuki Cultus Pike's Peak (again!)

Cultus Pikes Peak... This car, I think, is being considered as an overkill too as the Escudo is, although it is heavier and has less power. It's always in the 'scudo's shade and has not so much usage in the game... You don't need it neither for completing the game nor just for your collection - that's why, I think, putting these two cars together in one game was a little mistake. Imagine if there was no Escudo in the game - this blue Cultus would never be blamed in overpoweredness because it's basically not so easy to win all the games using it as using Escudo. It would just be a very nice 4WD car ranked somewhere on the top.

Pros: power, weight, 4WD, dirt tires
Cons: understeering when not tuned, large price.

95/100

Next car: Spoon Civic Type-R

Next car: Spoon Civic Type-R

The Spoon version...
Fun little thing, especially good for the NA Tuned Cup and FF-Only Challenge. It can also turn some of the highest RPM's in the game (after the Calibra, 155 Touring Car, and CLK Race Car). Unfortunately, the handling leaves some to be desired, unless you have a few hours ou tour hands to tune it.

Overall: 85/100

Next Car: Vector M12 LM (the special model)

Next Car: Vector M12 LM (the special model)

I'm typing this from memory without looking at my "notes" so forgive me if I get this wrong.

Loads of power (almost 700 hp) Great acceleration. Speed will never be on your list of issues. 👍

Race-mod already completed...downforce can be modified by default. 👍

Great looking car! The fact that Polyphony Digital actually found a suitable replacement for Lamborghini by consulting with a low-volume maker such as Vector rocks. 👍

Full-custom everything included in the package (tranny, LSD, etc.)...I think 👍 (correct me if I'm wrong)

It's possible to complete the game in a Vector LM, even going up against the mighty Toyota TSO20 & other such machines. 👍

Mid-engine traction off the mark. :D

CONS

Above average weight for an LM machine at 2,550 pounds. :indiff:

Brakes can't be modified (again, correct me if I'm wrong) :indiff:

PRICEY. Pretty sure this one costs a million credits. Less expensive cars can do the same job. :ouch:

Oversteery--handles like a frisbee sometimes, especially when following another car. You may notice GT2 cars lose almost all their downforce when they draft other cars. The Vector LM doesn't recover easily from dastardly situations.

I think there's only one color (white) to choose from. :dunce: Again, I might be wrong.

SUMMARY: You get the excitement, the speed, and the glory...if you can handle it. A trainwreck is waiting at almost every corner in this flippy car. Basically, you get it all, but you pay the price, too.

82/100

Toyota Celica GT-Four RC (Used lot): 69/100

While little-known, the Celica actually evolved from the Supra model, or rather the Toyota Supra evolved from it. This Celica is an ideal starter car, priced under 10,000 Cr., and with 231hp and four-wheel drive available on tap. Modified, it resembles the famous Celica GT-Four Castrol Rally Car that dominated rally events in the 90s, before the European WRC Corolla of the same make. Horsepower can reach just under 400 when fully tuned, and handling is firm. However, it is not a brilliantly exciting car to drive, and extra weight is added by the four-wheel drive system. Also, there are more intriguing used cars you can buy out there which are better for challenging the driver, honing and refining their skills. The price makes it a bargain, but the body style also makes it feel what it is priced. In conclusion, a good car for a rank beginner, but the true drivers flock to the used RX-7s and Silvias.

Next car: Nissan 180SX Type X 1994

Offtopic: guys, do you search for another GT2 car and drive it a little to remember how it was, or just write this from your memories? Just curious :)

Both...sometimes I'll get a car and drive it; others I'll just write from what I remember...apparent in my minor mistake with excluding the Espace earlier.

Dude you forgot to rate the Celica! I could rate the 180SX but I kinda want to hear someone else do it for some reason..

I write from my memories, website, and notes. I'm not actively doing GT2 anymore, but I still have strong opinions about some of the cars I drove.

But I never rate a car unless I've driven it, you see. :)

Dude, read the top! I said 69/100.

Edit: Sorry, did I come on too hard?

I haven't seen any '94 180SX's, just '96 240SX's.

You're right. There is no 180SX in GT2...(other than the drag car). The 180SX is found in GT1 and i think 3...it's basically the same model line as a 240SX fastback...the 180SX is just the japanese version of it.

Well, nothing surfaced, so I have to say: 79.72/100

It's a visceral feeling really, but the 240SX (180SX so as not to confuse it with the 240SX Silvia) is a superb lightweight rear-wheel drive car, complete with a sharp racing-modification scheme. Once again, however, it gets lost easily in the horde of Nissans out there, and the faster MA70 Supra undercuts the car in price. It is still a good car to drive, and is more tame than the Supra.

Next car: Arta Zexel Skyline GT-R

Arta Zexel GT-R: 93/100

As with any other 700+ bhp Skyline, it's a perfect race weapon. Massive power, 4 wheel drive, nice handling - what else can you expect? This one also has a nice paint job.

Next car: Toyota Celica Rally Car

Which one? But, I will come up with a general rating for all: 75.8/100

The GT-Four RC is arguably the most famous of the fold of Celica Rally cars, but the ST185 came first. That said, the ST185 lacks power and real proof that it makes a capable rally racer, but it has its points. The ST205 is the challenger to the GT-Four, being the only rally car of the Celicas to run in all four installments of Gran Turismo, and thus is more well known to GT enthusiasts. But, those who follow the WRC will know that the GT-Four won the World Rally Drivers' Championship in 1990 and 1992, including victories in the respective South African Rallies. The 1984 Celica, being obscure, could make a formidable rally racer, providing it can accept the dirt tires n GT2. If so, it would possibly be much like an Austin-Healey 3000: low-slung, rear-wheel drive, and an interesting yet capable sporting dirt-racing car. In this respect, it could be much like the Datsun 240ZG, also running in rallies since its inception, most notably in the 1973 Safari.

All that said, the Celicas are fine in rallying, but the Subaru Impreza and Mitsubishi Lancer just do it better. At this stage, it actually competes with the lesser-powered but more dedicated rally cars, such as the Peugeot 206 Rally Car or the Corolla Rally Car.

They are much cheaper to own and tune than the total price for a Subaru Impreza Rally Car or a Mitsubishi Lancer Rally Car, though.

Next Car: Lancia Stratos Rally Car (a tuned and modified Lancia Stratos)

Off-topic, but: It's amazing to observe how responses and ratings have changed for this thread over time, dormancies, eras and active members.

Whaaa? What IS THAT? Some sort of hidden car in GT2?
You know, the first time I've seen it I had nearly the same impressions - I was just searching for interesting cars (you know, like, kei-cars that have 187+ bhp, or just some sleepers, or anything else) inside the car list and saw a 569 bhp rally car... I got curious and put the cheats on (allowing me to buy it as a new car from any lot), and saw THAT... I was like "Wow, I have NEVER seen THIS beast". Then I went here to watch this car is either a hidden one or just a prize for some race. I was pretty much sure it was hidden :) But it wasn't.
And, next car?
Well, I wouldn't mind if somebody would rate that one :) As for me, I think it's the best Rally Car in the game and the second best (after the FTO LM) among the cars with dirt tires.

I see it too! I'd better start playing, but my brothers have banned me! ARGH!

Hmm, seeing as there isn't a car posted at the moment, I'll post one down for the ratings.

Subaru SVX (Now, I'm posting this off memory, so maybe it was only in GT1, I can't remember)

There's 2 SVXs ...the LSi and the S4 and the LSI. There is no difference between the 2 except the S4 is slightly lighter. These are only found in GT1 and GT2 👍 you can't find them in later games :grumpy: . The SVX was my first all-wheel drive car in GT1. I remember I thought it was cool because it seemed no matter what, there was never any wheelspin, know what I mean? As long as you keep your racing lines clean. :dopey: IT has such great traction! You can push and push it and it never runs out of traction. The real-life cars were some of the first with Subaru's complex all-wheel drive system, which send power to whichever wheel needs it the most, but holds back on power to other tires that may slip under stress, and PD obviously tried to model this in the game. 👍 You can get a race-kit for them, which is always fun.

But it's heavy. It gets kinda boring to drive in the long run since it's got such perfect handling. 👎 But overall I miss it. Wish the SVX was in GT4. :indiff: As much as I love Imprezas and Legacies, I miss the SVX even more

Next: Audi A3

The A3 is a strangely harmonious car... never mind, it is a quirky vehicle, much in the mould of the Mercedes A160 Avantgarde. However, later versions are nicely keyed in and offer a good ride. There are still more conventional vehicles that are cheaper than the A3, though (kei cars). The A3 offers a stable ride like no other, but kei cars undercut the Teutonic hatchback by a painful amount, almost enough to outweigh the A3's pleasant driving characteristics. Suspension tuning capitalizes on the ride.

Audi A3: 82/100 (a better car than most people give it credit for, still)

Next Car: Subaru Vivio RX-R
