Subaru Vivio RX-R:

Pros:
- Lightweight
- Nice handling, very stable due to 4WD transmission
- Nice braking abilities
- l4 engine - enough torque

Cons:
- It's a kei-car... :) But I like it pretty much.

85/100

Next car: Honda S2000 GT1

99% It's so nice that i don't use it!

Mazda Cosmo Type-E '94

Pros:
- Good power - 620hp modified
- Fairly good acceleration

Cons:
- Its heavy, real heavy. Fully lightend 1400Kg.
- Its slow no matter what you do with it
- It doesnt look that good compared to other cars in its catagorie

Lets face it the cosmo was not really a good car, it was heavy slow and expensive, mainly because it was based of american design. I.e this car is not worth the 25K it costs.

I rate it 54/100. And im being generous.

Offtopic: Geez not much has changed since i havent been round. :D

This cars is amazing! its one of the best cars in my garage.

120/100 im not being generous. :D it really is a good car

It was the Tomica DR30 Skyline... Read the previous post ^^

I see. I guess the guy got tree'd, and he submitted his rating for the Celica even after someone else did. Can't blame him, though.

Tomica DR30 Skyline Silhouette Formula: 93/100

A really nice car, with aggressive bodywork and equally dispositioned staggered tire sizes, and lots of power. The apparent lack of weight really helps this car rocket down the road. A popular first race car by modern racers, it is easily accessible and can be sold for a high price early in the game. Unfortunately, the car's role in this 'get-rich-quick' scheme disgusts purists who do not want to see newcomers abuse the car.

However, that said, it can beat many a race car out of the box, and with some fine tuning (or not!), it could beat GTP cars on a regular basis, as many have done.

Next car: Nissan Skyline 2000RSX DR30 Turbo 1987 (I think, if not rate the next model year)

R30 Skyline:
Pros:
- Enough power to compete even with GT500 cars;
- Nice paintjob (it doesn't look like a billboard);
- Can also be a drift car;

Cons:
- Turbo lag due to the 4-cylinder engine (the only Skyline gen with l4 engine);
- It's... Well... Nothing special actually :) Just yet another good old-fashioned car.

Next car: TVR Cerbera LM Edition

TVR Cerbera LM: 97/100

No car is perfect, but this one comes VERY close. It looks, sounds, drives, and even FEELS wonderful. This should be the Super License prize car, making that elusive Toyota GT-One 1999 look like a Toyota Starlet compared to this British classic.

The drive experience is electric, and the car has a sound that is so often missed in Japanese and tuned American cars, a primal scream, yet refined, in the classic British manner.

3 points off for being made by humans...

NEXT CAR: TVR Griffith 500 4.0L

TVR Griffith 500 5.0L: 79/100

Pros:
- LOTS of power;
- Light weight;
- Looks quite good;

Cons:
- Tons of understeering :(
- Can't say it's cheap... But who cares :)

Overall - a car for pros (as any TVR except for the Cerbera LM), can be an overkill in right hands.

Next car: Cusco Impreza!

Looks like a stock Esprit, but purpose-rebuilt. Still very nice.

Next Car: Lotus Elan Sprint S2 1964 (I think)

Yes..you are correct! ;) 1964.

I really dug the Elan in GT2...it was my first experience driving a "real" sports car in a videogame. Stodgy car enthusiasts from all over the world have very strict definitions of what a true sports car is: rear-drive, 2 seats...manual transmission, bare-bones instrumentation, sparse and uncluttered with creature comforts at a minimum and performance at a premium. They look at modern "sports cars" with airbags, GPS navigation systems, air-conditioning, real-time computer enhanced suspensions, electronic this and that and scoff!

Anyways, so I really dug the Elan. Here's why.

* Tons of 2-tone colors look good even with crappy GT2 graphics...there's too many to choose from !

* Lightweight at just 1,529 pounds , and you can equip a race-kit. 👍

* LOVE that engine note. It rattles and drones.

* Slippery, fishtaily handling. Bumps and curves keep you guessing! This car's unpredictability is the reason it's so fun! A bit of understeer going into a corner instantly transforms to highly controlled oversteer with a blip of throttle. Anyone who gets bored by this car probably hasn't got much of a pulse to begin with. :D

* Lots and lots of maneuverability. Smallish dimensions (56" wide on an 84" wheelbase) keep the Elan able to squeeze thru traffic that bigger cars can't make it thru. Even stock, the suspension feels well balanced and gives us a lot of room to work with,but also a lot of room to recover should things get too hairy.

* 7000 rpm redline...an engine balanced for natural power whenever you need it. Upgrades available...2 levels of NA tuning.

...........................................But all is not perfect...

* poor acceleration/low torque. One that skewers larger, heavier cars in turns but makes you grit your teeth rolling down straights. No turbos available (oddly, you can get them in GT4). :indiff:

* 4-speed tranny runs out of room down longer straights. Time to drop serious cash on a full-custom gearbox.

* A highly unstable machine. As I said, I dig this, but many might hate this car's "guess what I'm about to do next?" handling traits. In GT4, the Elans feel much more race-ready and less prone to difficult behavior. Hmmm.

Summary: Like modern Lotus Elises, the Elan may not have the most power, but they provide us with lots of handling and 110% fun.

There aren't enough sprites in GT2. Where is the MG Midget? The MGB? Triumphs? Austin-Healys? Alfa Spiders? Bristols? :grumpy: Of course, there are more in GT4, but some of the key players are still missing from this game. :mad: Oh well.

Nice write-up.

There really is not much to say about this car, other than that unlike its predecessors, it is a sure-footed and predictable car. But, that takes the fun out of driving one. It also looks not much like an older Elan.

It is an interesting European alternative to the hordes of Japanese kei cars, but it really seems uninspiring and dull.

This little Muscle Car is actually quite good. It has decent handling and power for a muscle car. It can be race tuned, and while it won't have the power of the Hemi squad, it has superior handling. Plus, it just looks awesome!

Next Car: Dodge Stratus ES

P.S. You like my new Awesome Avatar?

I think it is really cool.

Getting back on topic-Dodge Stratus ES: 73/100

We're sure the actual car is very good, having been an avid touring car racer in the North American series a while back, but, that said, there are so many cheaper cars that can perform better and respond better to tuning from other countries, namely Japan, in GT2. In the meantime, the drive is at least solid but the car is somewhat bland. Just another front-drive American car...

Next Car: Dodge Avenger ES!

Avenger ES: Like superberkut said about the Stratus, "Just another front-drive American car..." Kinda low-powered and kinda understeery, just like most real American front-drivers. I do like the styling, especially the taillights. An apt car in the right hands; unfortunately, there are few.

65/100

Next: Dodge Neon ACR(?)

PT Spyder...
Pros: hmm... Good-looking maybe. And easy to get.

Cons:
- Could have had more power ^^
- Tons of understeering
- Heavy compared to its japanese opponents

Next car: hmmm... Momo Corse Apex MR2

Just a note. ..so true about this generation of MOPAR products! I occasionally get to do some work on a Stratus or an Intrepid at my job. Or a New Yorker...or an older 300-series. They just have such a flimsy feeling, and bland style. Neons are better; some Neons are respectable if the owner knows how to keep it up to par. I like the newer 300s and Magnums too...returning to a rear-drive format was a great move for American carmakers--they're better at it.

Sorry to go off topic. As AAZ says, Momo Corse MR2 is next.

Resurrected.

Momo Corse MR-2: 79/100

A good car, but looks positively bloated when compared with other racers, lacking the sleek, svelte lines of the Silvia racers or the crisp edges of the Kraft Trueno. However, it looks better when compared to a normal modified MR-2. So, it fails in aesthetics, but is an overall pleasant car to drive.

Next car: Mazda RX-7 LM Edition (that made it to GT1)

...three and a half months later...

Mazda RX-7 LM Edition:

  • Not so much grip, but handles reeeally well 👍
  • Low weight 👍
  • Peaky high-revving engine 👍
    -
  • Despite great handling, I still wish it had more grip 👎
  • Not so much torque I should say 👎
  • The engine could be more powerful for an LM car 👎

Overall - 89/100, I really like it :)

Awesome! I was thinking of resurrecting this thread...

Shelby Cobra Coupe: 93/100

Very good-looking, lightweight and an excellent track car. Combines elegance and ingenuity with the times to match. Can't justify spending 1,000,000 Cr. on it, though.

Next Car: Shelby Series 1
