When you get online there will be a set of options on the right-hand side of the screen in the race lobby. One of those options is car select, I believe.
Just enter that menu, and then move through the car options by pressing R1/L1. You should be able to choose from your cars, Tier 1, 2, 3 and 4 cars (depending on the tier you're on) loaner cars, and bonus/reward cars.

Of course, the type of car you will be allowed to choose is dependent on the type of race you have setup and the car limits/restrictions you have allowed.
If you are entering someone else's lobby, they may have restrictions on the type of cars allowed and that may be preventing you from selecting your own cars if they are too powerful 👍

Oh, i see. Nice that's still possible. Thanks! 👍

can somone change my vote to 0? seriously once you leave tier 2 anything without all wheel drive is undriveable.

I've been having quite some fun with a maxxed out Z06 actually, very drivable indeed. ;)

I just finished the game on medium this morning and my overall rating is 8.3. I don't like how every time you move up to a new tier, they introduce a new track that you haven't driven before and you have to restart many times until you memorize the track. Also, I don't like not being able to qualify beforehand especially if its the 'best drivers in the world' on the track with me. Its very unfair to keep increasing the number of cars on the track and I always start 4th to last. My car also seems to be really bouncy in the front where my front end goes in the air and my G25 'skips' and I can't turn :/. I also don't like that the AI is careless beyond belief since 'we' can earn an 'agressive' style of play they assume I'll bash them around. Which I don't since I'm too precise for that :P

But, those are the most glaring things that I don't like, everything else about the game is truly fun, I love the mixed events between battle cars or time attack, the sound is really good and varies a lot between cars. The graphics are clean, I have a hard time turning off the PS3! Is it me or are we now visiting NFSPlanet.net? How many threads are there, really!?!

If you need to learn a new track go to quick race and just put the A.I. to 0 and the laps to whatever you want. This helped me learn London, I will also have to do it for a couple more tracks.

Thats a good idea mate, but too late for me :nervous:

I really like the game, however the AI is very rough. I have had alot of times on the invitational event with the Bugatti's that I am getting crashed from behind and need to restart several times.

I give it a very well deserving 8 out of 10, it's just that good to me.

I have a lot more good things to say about Shift as opposed to the negative. One major negative is EA isn't trying to violate the core NFS audience which is why it still maintains a very slight arcade aspect to it. If they can cater this to the same people simulations are aimed toward (often hardcore) Shift 2 could quite possibly be something both GT5 and FM3 (or FM4) has to worry about as it already does some things better.

The online feature is weak, very weak. I'm sorry being thrown into a random room all of the time and not having a list of rooms so you can pick where you want to race is unacceptable.

Not having ingame custom music is stupid and furthers the rumor that EA is the reason why the PS3 cannot use features that the other console can.

The bouncing on Stage 2 and 3 cars is insanely annoying.

Those are the major factors which give it a score of 7.

Minor bugs such as the flag girl standing in the back seat are amusing and show why EA is not really the top shelf outfit they think they are. Yeah, I know SMS created this game, but their logo is not the one that your brain is washed with when you fire up the game. Face it, it is an EA game.

Did you check your tuning settings? In the glitch thread it lists the tunings being set to the left side. If I remember correctly one tuning (quick tuning) takes grip away on left side. So driving rear wheel will probably been insanely hard to control

If people actually put effort into the car tuning rather than just using them stock or using the quick tune (which helps but isn't perfect) then you can make the cars drive really nicely, One of my friends has tweaked a few cars and they now drive brilliantly I will try and persuade him to post them up on here so you guys can try them out. I voted 9 by the way, Very good but not perfect.

I voted 7. There should be one set of physics instead of the two, I can't powerslide my cars to well when I am racing, and there is a hulluvalodda bugs.

On the upside, the physics are much much better than previous NFSs, I LOVE the way the cockpit moves and how it blurs, and the noises, while not a realistic as GT5P (flame away peoples) they're awesome.

I'd recommend it - 7.5 if you are pedantic.

Well you can at least create your own room & invite friends, so I don't think it's that much of a problem...

I gave it an 8.... Me and my mate have had a lot of fun online in private race's with voice chat. The sound is great, and to be honest I'm just having a ball.

I have voted for eight, but with the current flaws I'd give it a 7-minus. If the bugs are fixed it coudl be an eight again. :)

6

Sort the bugs out and it would be much higher.

I'm at a loss how anyone could rate this game 8-9 considering how many huge issues there are with the playability... what do you think EA would say if they saw this thread... 'the game's getting rated 7-8-9 by 80%+... we don't need to fix those bugs guys'.

(PS3)

I gave it an 8

If they had made the controller buttons mappable and included proper damage I'd have gone higher.

This game is brilliant if you've got some mates round and youre taking turns at it. Crack out some beers whack the volume up see how long you last doing 25 laps of that figure of eight track:crazy:

GT5p is cold by comparison. Too sterile if you will. Great for hunkering down on your own and putting 25 laps of Fuji in just to take half a second off your best time, but where's the fun factor?

I voted 6.

Just too frustrated with all the bugs in the game... It would probably be an 8 without the bugs. The cars bouncing uncontrollably one was it for me, after playing the game for only 2 days, I decided that's it, I will not play it until there is a patch to fix that bounce problem...

Gave it a 7. Bugs. Physics enjoyable but easy and doesn't represent the real cars accurately. Sound is nice but too exagerated and not close to the real thing. FFB well implemented. Overall a good game though and great fun. A good buy, no regrets.

6 and that is high given the games current state.

The number of bugs and glitches are simply to many, that they can have slipped through the internal testing before release of the game. 100 % this game was released before it was ready to get some sales before Forza 3 & GT 5 hit the shelves.

If the fixed all the bugs the game could be 8.

But not higher there are still missing some basic features like customise control layouts.

You cant even use the nitro with a G25.

Also not being able to go into tune menu from the track, or at least prior to a race, is stupid.

Coupled with many anoying loading times (PS3) before and after races brings it down.

1. Fix the bugs AND the steering, and make some physics changes, and it'd be a 9-9.5

If you like racing games where cars steer like cars, this game is not for you. This game is the quintessential NFS stereotype, complete and utter garbage. Shame is, everything other than the steering is excellent! I just don't do swivel turning. I like when only the front wheel steer.

So, the game is complete and utter garbage, but you would still give it a huge rating (given they fix the problems)?

3, I can't stand the AI, even if I cleanly pass them they still find a way to hit me. The one make Zonda race at Road America is annoying even on easy. Then all the bugs come in so the whole race was bouncing all over, getting punted of the track, and everything slowing down to slow motion. The only positive side to this game is it will get me a dicount of Modern Warfare 2 :D. If you can't tell I have an anger issue and this game pushed it, a lot

If they fix the problems, it wouldn't be complete and utter garbage now would it?

Why should I have to tune a stock car to make it drive reasonably? And since WHEN CAN you tune a stock car's downforce, steering ratio, axle ratio, and oversteer/understeer? I've heard of a few with adjustable this and that in the suspension, so a little play there, don't know of ANY with manually adjustible steering ratios, axle ratios, or downforce, other then the Bugatti's "handling mode"

The fun and feel are brilliant, racing feel is great. So far its like a 9+...

...but due to all the problems with the ps3 version i would rate is an 7.5 but EA/SMS seem to be updating some of them so lets say an 8. So much potential but the lack of detail was just ridiculous, but hey thats an reason i like PD, for the love of cars.

:)

Final judgement: 8.0

3

I've been playing it for 2 hours now and all of the cars handle like they're made of bouncy castles floating on ice and the AI is over aggressive. It's impossible to have a clean race due to the dodgy controls, especially in the faster cars. Not a single bit of the game has felt like driving a real car. I'll be trading it in ASAP.
