Remember though, this is GTP. Fast non-luxury sedans aren't cool here, because they have too much power (Toyota Chaser with ~290-300 apparently excepted) and are thus for car people, which makes them uncool.

It's strange, it's almost as if we have stipulations on posting things that are either false, misleading, or inaccurate here.

I'd give it a cool, large V8. I'd love to have it.

But that's for when it gets polled :).

Try the Toyota Chaser thread, where people were saying it'd be uncool if it had more power, because then it'd be for car people.

Subaru 1000/FF-1/1300G

Subaru ff-1 Sports .jpg

Production: 1966-1973

Bodystyles:
2-door Sedan
4-door Sedan
5-door Wagon

Engines:
EA52 1.0L (977cc) OHV Boxer-4, rated 54hp and 57lb.ft
EA61 1.1L (1088cc) OHV Boxer-4, rated 60hp and 65lb.ft
EA62 1.3L (1268cc) OHV Boxer-4, rated 79hp and 73lb.ft

Transmissions:
4-speed Manual

Drivetrains:
Front-engine, FWD
Front-engine, 4WD (limited production)

The 1000 was Japan's first production FWD car, and Subaru's first car with a boxer engine. It also became Subaru's first 4WD vehicle when they were contacted by the Tohoku Electric Power Company in 1970 to produce a 4WD version of the 1300G wagon, as a more comfortable (and warmer) alternative to the 4WD Jeeps that Tohoku had been using to traverse poor roads, in harsh conditions. Subaru ended up liking the idea and decided to stick with it.

Yes. Oh my god, yes.

So with the Liberty up it's time for another vehicle, one which may actually strike a nostalgia chord with anyone who played from the glory days of NFS:

Tickford Vehicle Engineering TS50 T3

IMG_2168copy.jpg

Production:
2002 (224 units)
Based On: Ford AUIII Fairmont Ghia
Assembly: Broadmeadows, Melbourne, Australia
Body: 4-door, 5-seat sedan
Engine: Ford Windsor OHV 5.6L small-block V8
Outputs: 335hp/369lb-ft
Drive Type: Front-engine, rear-wheel-drive
Transmission: 5-speed manual (72 units), 4-speed automatic (152 units)
0-62mph: 5.86sec
1/4 Mile: 14.18sec @N/Amph

The last hurrah for both Tickford Vehicle Engineering (TVE) and Ford's Windsor V8 as the Modular line was rolling out across the world, the T3 series of AU Falcons were the recipient of the most powerful V8 in an Australian-made Ford since the XY GTHO Phase III, a standard 5.0L Windsor hand-assembled at TVE and stroked out to 5.6L, bumping power from 200kW to 250kW.

Three different versions were created: the TE50 based on the Ford Falcon XR8, with the most units produced; the TS50, a more luxurious version based upon the Ford Fairmont Ghia; and an incredibly scarce TL50 long-wheelbase based upon the luxury Ford Fairlane.

Tickford also upgraded the brakes and suspension to match the new-found oomph under the bonnet, along with a V8 Supercar-esque bodykit and spoiler to differentiate the looks. The TVE T1-through-3 vehicles weren't particularly popular vehicles with the Australian public and sold in low numbers throughout production, but the T3 vehicles in particular are the most sought after because of the 5.6L stroker, and are commanding premiums today.

TVE was bought out by Prodrive in 2002 and became Ford Performance Vehicles.

As I'm sure you might know, you're going to get a lot of "Seriously Uncool because racecar" posts.

Naturally, and this was also a "drive to the race, win, and drive back home again" machine like the Jaguar D-Type and Ferrari 250 SWB. 👍

I've decided to just avoid weekend posts in general.

OP is updated on new info for posts, and I've beautified it

I have two other nominations lined up (one I've been holding off on since February). But then this came up in the Automotive Guilty Pleasures thread and, shockingly, it doesn't appear to have been nominated. So knowing that, there is absolutely no way I can just leave it.
