Well I already have an AR lol. I want a Mini-14 just because they look awesome and are good for plinking haha.

Totally not legal in NY though, at least as far as I know.
Sorry, I forgot. Which AR did you have again?

I actually like Mini-14, too. I've also read that newer ones have thicker barrel for improved accuracy. 👍

Just a standard issue AR-15. I forget which make, it's locked up so I can't get to it.

That's awesome. I like the old chrome/wood ones with the folding stock :D

I think its a very good looking rifle, the market is flooded with black tacticool rifles, there is nothing wrong with them but after a while I get tired of their looks and handling. This makes me appreciate the simplicity, ruggedness and sleekness of such oldschool rifles as the Mini 30.

Interesting topic Michael brings up. While I am a total tacticool tool, and someone who really enjoys the aesthetic aspect of rifles, I seem to much prefer the way standard, wooden stock handle & feel in my hands. I am such a tool.

Yeah but even wood works can be modified and turned into cheap tactical tricks.

You can do a lot with wood, even funky stuff like this:

While I totally appreciate the toughness and moisture-resistance of plastic I too have to say that wooden stocks feel much nicer and more solid in my hands.

So, guys... FNS-9 vs. M&P9? I'll probably wind up going with the SW because of the apex FSS kit.

Haven't shot a full fized M&P, have shot a M&P9C, liked it, then shot the same M&P9C with an Apex something kit and it and loved it. Shot an FNX45, liked it. Honestly whichever one fits you better. The M&P has Apex Tactical and all the other aftermarket stuff. It would make a fun gun to tinker with. Since I like tinkering with my guns, I'd choose an M&P. I'd also expect there to be .22LR conversion kits for the M&P sooner.

The reason I'm considering the FNS is that it has full ambi controls. Again, same old story. Just haven't had the money to drop. Too easy to just use aunt's glocks. :P

As I understand it, all the other guns that have ambi controls have the option for you to choose one side or the other. The FNS has both available/functional at all times.

That's a little on the crazy end. Though the camo ones aren't much better lol.

Hopefully there's some new cool stuff at the Shot show. I'll decide what to do after that.

So I found a ppq m1 on auction for 450. Might have a hard time passing game up on it at that price. opinions?

Auction closes next week. Hope it stays that low but I'm not holding my breath.

For what its worth, magazine prices have come down on the PPQ. And apparently, the 17 rounders are actually now available. I may have to buy a few of those.
