Oh, and about the video, how in the nine hells can the shooter see and aim at a 36 inch wide plate at 3600yds with just a 25x magnification?
When I heard the description of the scope I thought the same thing myself.

Though, shooting at long distances is a whole lotta fun!!! :)

Doesn't help on the availability. Besides, the ATF isn't a lawmaking body...they skipped right around Congress on this.
And I doubt they would have been able to pass such blatantly flawed argument. Very similar to how after Sandy Hook, gun control lobby argued civilians do not need "military" grade, "high power" rifles like AR-15s. It's like allowing people to own V-8's & V-12's, but banning V-6's. Exactly how many cops are being killed by these M855s or whatever anyway?

Yeah, even at ''mere'' thousand yards shooters usually use scopes with 40x magnification and targets MUCH larger, and this guys shoots 3600yds with half of that magnification? Also isn't the cross hair much thicker than the 36'' target at 3600 with only 25x?

Either we're missing some information here or this is really BS.

Got the stock from Boyds, what a major let down. Despite the product description and pictures on their website the red in my stock is bright screaming pink, on top of it it has strange scratches. And as if that wasn't enough I broke off a wood screw when I tried to install the rifle into the stock. So now I can't even put it into the old stock.
Boyds totally screwed up my day. :irked:

I ordered this:

And this is what I got, plus a broken screw due to the undersized screw holes.

And that light is very forgiving, in bright sunlight that pink color that was supposed to be red burns your retina in milliseconds.

I'm sorry to hear the news. I first saw the first pic & was going "Michael might be color blind...." I clearly saw what he was talking about by the second pic. I wonder if the color will fade over time(I'm totally ignorant), or if there is such technique?

Hey, I'm one of the very few people who have 4 color receptors, never doubt me in color stuff! :D

The color of a colored laminate won't fade any significant amount unless I'm putting the stock in the desert for a decade or so. I'm going to refinish it though, sand it down and use some linseed varnish that will give it kind of a satin finish. That should do the trick, I hope. If it doesn't I consider it a failed experiment and use the old stock instead.*shrugs* Or I simply go the brutal route and paint it black.

Limited options, but here's to your refinishing treatment working the magic.👍

I'm not gonna lie, had I been the recipient, I'd have asked for full-credit return, or partial refund. It's not even what he ordered, really.

They had no problem banning the 7n6 5.45 Russian ammo (AK74 ammo) when Crimea was a hot topic. Same idea, being that its "armor piercing" by having a steel core. Its remarkably close to the M855 in construction but the 5.45 leaves a small airspace in the tip that might help with fragmenting/expansion. Its even less fitting of the AP definition because bullets under .22 cal are exempt. 5.45mm = .214. You could get that super cheap in spam cans.

But it does seem the ATF has stalled on the ban for the moment. Casually waiting to sneak it in when nobody is looking.

That's good news. For now. :D If the Russian ammo was due to the sanctions, I can actually understand that. AP ammo ban thing actually do make me afraid of the ATF though. I wonder what other job-security they have in mind that solves problems that doesn't exist. :dunce:

Yeah they're clearly trying to apply the ''boil the frog'' tactic here. Put a frog in hot boiling water and it will jump out. Put a frog in cold water and heat it up and it will slowly cook to death.

AAAAH! I just broke off another screw in the stock, is just wanted to get it a little tight and bam! its off too!! What are screws made of nowadays, dried compressed cow excrements? How can anyone fail so hard in making something as simple as freaking screws?

Either that or powerlifting has finally made me lose my fine senses required for driving screws without killing them.
Next purchase: torque screw driver. 💡 I shall know the truth!

Cool, look, its like a short barreled 7.62x39 Pistol! Its like a 7.62x25 Tokarev +P. I can already hear people crying because of its ability to defeat any soft body armor even without using steel core or other kinds of AP bullets .

Bad. Ass. I think the time for @Michael88 to buy a handgun has finally arrived. :P

Edit: Today's episode of "no .22lr" - I was at Walmart, so like I always do, I go by the ammunition & there was a old dude also looking for .22. He says that he was at another store, they had two buckets(BUCKETS) of .22lr, so he got in line at the counter. He was the third person. Two people in front of him took the two buckets. So close. He says that he goes sage hunting & goes thru those .22's like crazy.

Made some pics of my trusty old G11. One of the most underrated and overlooked rifles ever.
Mine is about 102 ears old so its pre-WW1, at its introduction and for some time after it was the most advanced service rifle in the world.
Its super long, the barrel alone is 32'' long, the action is also very long and so is the butt stock. I think OAL is almost 5ft. Very comfortable to shoot, action is buttery smooth and its super accurate.

The bolt works exactly like one of a semi-auto rotating bolt rifle, with the exception of having to cycle it manually.
It has an operating rod, a cam that makes the bolt it rotate and two giant locking lugs. A super fast action, and a huge one - the bolt weighs more than 1.5 lbs.

DSCF1376kl_zpsu9qtcc4p.jpg

The round it fires is comparable to a hot 7.62x51 or a 7.62x54, service load was a 180 grain projectile at 2600fps. Mine shoots best with my handloads which are 150's at 2880. It holds 6 in the detachable magazine, so its a 6+1.
The great thing is, even though its called the 7.5x55 Swiss you can safely use .308 bullets so once you have the brass reloading is super easy. In fact those shoot great with .308 match bullets commonly used in 308 precision rifles.

DSCF1380kl_zpsrip2ug7b.jpg

And now the crazy part, since everyone wants a Mauser K98, or a Swedish Mauser, an M1A etc. everybody forgets about the poor G11 so they're super cheap, almost as cheap as Mosin Nagants even though the G11's quality and accuracy is a million times better. They run for 250-300 bucks and most are in excellent condition.

Bad. Ass. I think the time for @Michael88 to buy a handgun has finally arrived. :P.
But I can't find the butt stock! :scared:

Buckets of ammo. Only in the USA **** YEAH!

Fantastic vintage rifle. 👍 Who makes made it?
The neutral Doblerone mountain people.
Use the muscle. :P
Ah, now I finally have an excuse for a second chest+shoulder day in my exercise plan. I knew I'd find one eventually! :D
Only for the first two guys in the line though. I've heard of them before, but I'm not sure if I've ever seen a bucket of .22s.
If its a big bucket I'd be afraid of blowing myself up. Just imagine the weight on the rounds at the bottom, those are squishy rim fires after all. And now drop it on the concrete floor! :sly:

OK, now which manufacture!?

I didn't even think about that. While I'm sure it's unlikely, stranger things have happened.

Ah come on, the Swiss of course! I was pretty sure Swiss made Toblerone (Triangular chocolate bars) chocolate is world famous!

I tell you, its a giant shotgun in disguise, just waiting to discharge in your face! I bet they sell those 22's in steel buckets with 1'' thick sidewalls.

I figured it's from Swiss, but is the manufactured also called Swiss? :dunce:

P.S. I had to google this, and now I'm certain I've never seen this before(probably will never seen again):

Damn it, I want one!

Thanks Brett. 👍

While I like it better than Mosin Nagant, I think if I were to buy such vintage rifle, I'd still choose the Mosin Nagant for parts availability. If I actually reloaded ammunition, then I'd probably lean towards the Schmidt Rubin, so I could share the .308 bullets for both my rifles.

Edit: God, that bucket of .22LR looks like pot of gold.
