I need range time. Classes. There's a resolution. I'm much closer to a whole lot of ranges now. :D

So, besides shooting a lot, how can a lefty shooter like me get to right shooting? Having read the poster who is left eye dominant and was suggested to shoot left side, I thought I'd make this post.

I throw my footballs with my left hand, I power kick in soccer with my left better and I shoot with my left hand.

I just realized how awkward it feels is after right side with my friend's Garand.

Any suggestions?
This may not be the kind of suggestion you are looking for but weight lifting does greatly improve your performance and dexterity with your non dominant arm. In order to be good at lifting you absolutely need to have both of your body halves be equally strong and effective. Lifting helps building a better neuronal connection between your brain and your non dominant limbs and makes you more symmetrical in every aspect.

With as many posts as I've seen from Mike mentioning weight-lifting, I ended up imagining him like this:

Jesus, he's taking the slug reloads a little too far.

And for the record, I'm getting engaged to CZ as soon as my bride hits store shelves.

Hoping the p10 is a hit and they come out with a subcompact soon too.

I am also definitely interested in the CZ P10C also. Being that I already have two 9mm pistols though, I am not sure how serious my interest should be.

@Omnis I'll believe it when I sees it!

Gonna get my car paid off wayyyy early next month, so I'll be treating myself to a new gun shortly thereafter. Haven't bought anything in forever. Leaning Sig P220 Super Match Target in 45 but we'll see what happens.

I have started to get my eye on 1911s. It seems it is time for me to pick one up. A few Colts have caught my eye.

Wow, good looking gun. It's too much like my USP to justify a purchase though. Polymer frame?

Jealous. There was their black-something they had advertised in the NRA magazine that caught my eye, but it might've been a 9mm.

*Google*

Wow, maybe I got the name wrong. I couldn't find it. :P

Nah, some kind of alloy.

ew...

I love Mini 14s but for whatever reason the are priced too expensive for my liking but will probably still get another one eventually. I had one I bought used when I was 18 and it was from 1991 and I paid $600 for it. Lots of fun but I wish they were closer to $500.

To be honest for what you're getting and the price charged...there is so many better options.

For sure I just like Mini 14s because it was the first rifle I ever bought myself when I was of legal age. The price is a major turn off for me.

I was always taught early on when I got into the hobby that mini 14s are the type of gun that sale based on name, and less on purpose. I don't blame you for the reason you like it, I just say in general to most people don't waste the time unless you really need to have it. Glad though that you have reasoning when purchasing this stuff, many I've seen just buy expensive guns cause they can.

One thing was for sure, that thing never had any sort of malfunction and I never cleaned it and literally shot thousands of rounds through it. I took it apart a little before I sold it to clean it because I felt bad for it but I got sidetracked with life when it was in pieces and about a year later I decided to try to put it back together and couldn't figure it out. So I took it to a gun shop and he put it back together for me and cleaned it while it was there. Also, I never really had any accuracy problems like a lot of people say but my Mini 14 was unique because in 1991 the barrels were 1:7 twist and it shot decently with heavier grain bullets. I think the reputation most think when they hear Mini 14 is highly reliable but not accurate. I did purchase it with some actual real Ruger 20 and 30 round magazines that I guess are very hard to come by now due to Ruger taking a stand against high capacity magazines after a Mini 14 was used in a mass shooting in Canada. Had I known the rarity, I might have kept them. Besides that, I watched a lot of A-Team when I was a kid and the Mini 14 or AC556 was kind of a staple of that show. Lots of nostalgia. Too expensive.

I'm not surprised, but there is a reason it was short lived in service, it's also the reason why it sells. Guns that were ever military used seem to be big sales. The stories I get with the mini, is yes a reliable great replacement for the M1, but horrible range and accuracy for what it is trying to be. A combat rifle. The fact people use them for sniper rifles is even more worrying for me. I'm sure there are those who make it work, but for what you could easily get for less money like we've said, you'd have less issues and a better gun.

I've never read up on the Mini 14s Military history. True on the sniper rifle deal. A few years ago I was really interested in the Mini 14 Target model but the price was a major deciding factor on why I never pulled the trigger (so to speak lol). Also the fact that the Target Model was .223 only and half the reason I liked mine was because it didn't really care what you fed it. I have a friend who hunts Deer with one. Wouldn't be my first choice for that definitely and probably illegal in many areas doe to caliber but I'm not a hunter. If I really had to, I'd use one in CQB given it was right in front of me. I served in the Marine Corps and used an M16A2, M16A4 and M4s as primaries. Most of the hate they got was from the first run Vietnam era ones but never had much of an issue with them outside of occasional bad magazines that were worn out and I broke a firing pin once or trice. But most those guns are well beyond their service life. I'd trust a Mini 14 as some sort of survival type rifle that you can beat up and it's still work but I'm not one of those crazies who wishes the world would end so I could live that fantasy.

I see your point, also original m16 were hated because of their reliability, but with anything hated originally it later keeps the hate cause people don't ever learn how it's improved. In other words people are usually lazy and unwilling to educated after the fact. The difference is mini 14s haven't ever really improved over the original counter parts and thus it's easy to keep the same notions.

After hearing how Mini-14 lacks accuracy, but very reliable/dependable, it felt like an American .223 AK to me, except they cost more. :P My friend told me that he bought the 30 caliber version(I can't remember if it was AK round or .308). I always thought that these rifles looked cool, but I also was a fan of the A-Team as a kid & know that these things are only good at hitting not the actual target, but the cover the target is hiding behind. That show was more realistic than I ever imagined as a kid. :P

Don't listen to @LMSCorvetteGT2 I think it's beautiful. lol More stock looking one on Google looked nice, too. What's the going rate for one of them?
Ruger taking a stand against high capacity magazines
I find this hard to believe. If they truly feel that way, they should abandon AR rifles right now too.

Ruger has a Mini 14 chambered in 7.62x39. They call it the Mini Thirty.

For a time, it was the case with Ruger. Though, that is no longer the case.

Mini 14s are a love/hate type of gun. I don't think there are many inbetweeners. Still too expensive for my liking but it is what it is.

I remember that name, that must be the one. 👍

I had never heard that before!
Unless a gun is known for blowing up in your hand
:odd:
Not sure what specifically he's ew'ing, but at any rate it's not a concern.
Personal taste, but I think it looks good.

I have a question - would I be able to share airsoft guns on this thread? Got a big one coming in tomorrow.

There is a airsoft thread, I know that. It'll likely get zero response(). I personally don't care if you post airsoft on here, but I'm just one awesome guy.
Yours blew up but it's not like they are known for that .
It is in this thread!
