After watching the Military Channel on Youtube quite a bit lately, it has made me want an AK.
AK is LEGEN-DARY. I've been told that you want the milled receiver AK, not the entry level stamped receiver. I guess they don't last nearly as long or something.

The 5.45x39mm is what the Russians came up with in a smaller caliber. So in that regard, the 5.45 is the Russian equivalent to the 5.56x45mm.

I might go to a shooting party on Thursday. Depends on how soon I can finish my lab work. Apparently, someone went nuts and bought a pistol for every room so he/she can try them all.

What, what, what, and what?

Well, I think they are supposed to be nasty(to get shot with).

Probably a sweetheart in recoil department though. I bench shot today, but after 100 rounds, .308 is........ not a sweetheart. I can't wait to take that thing out shooting in the woods, where I'd be shooting it standing up. 100 shots like that, I might not be able to type for couple of days.

Someone has lots of new guns and a butt-ton of ammo. If I finish my work in time, I get to join them at the range.

Nope, not much at all. When I shoot, it's bolt action rifles over 100 yards while vacationing up in Arkansas. My uncle runs the PD range all day, so it's not like he ever does it for recreation. Hence why I don't. I probably should learn how to reload though. I could make a ton of ammo out of police brass. :)

In the 'hood', most of those are "drive-by shooting", so you can make a quick getaway. Not that police is showing up very quickly in such neighborhood. :P

There is a skeet shooting club in Portland(Oregon), but it's smack in middle of the suburbs. :scared:

I know that there is no way little bb's will reach the houses, but for people not familiar with firearms, it has to make them little nervous!

I applaud the community for educating themselves on the effective range of shotguns.

I remember a while ago some parents wanted to shut down an indoor shooting range that was like 100yds from a school because they were afraid of the lead poisoning.

5.45 is nice because it's cheap, not so nice because most of it is corrosive.

It's very surprising, because anti-gun people, they often invent an excuse to shut down anything gun related.

Since lead poisoning / pollution was mentioned, some quick information for the uneducated anti-gun soccer moms: collectors still dig out lead projectiles from the ground which were fired from rifled musket during the American civil war 150 years ago.
And guess what? The projectiles have a white-ish oxide layer and they're only marginally smaller than the original bore diameter.

Sure, you shouldn't pick them up from the ground and put them in your mouth, but this applies to a lot of things...

So much for lead poisoning, whoever came up with this BS should be shot with lead musket balls so they get an idea of what a REAL lead poisoning is like.

"We're going street shooting!? Awww yeeeaa... Oh."

Another damn shooting. Those crazies are the ones that make owning guns a hassle for the 99% who aren't insane.

Article I found said the estranged husband shot up a salon, where his wife works. He's been out of work, she's been working everyday, but recently decided to leave him. They have two daughters. Authorities found the guy's body inside the salon. He shot himself.

Another grown man with a mindset of an infant. Me-me-me-me, wah!!!!!

You can't handle it? Yeah, let's just kill some people, because this is all about "you" anyway. Don't worry about your kids or anything, do whatever you want.

Gun free zones for the win.
I'm sure it just needs a bit more fine-tuning. It would work sooo good, if they could only get these criminals to respect gun laws when they are robbing & killing people.......

I can only assume he's trolling. Any argument for gun-free zones falls apart the instant you apply logic and common sense.

They don't stop the shooting.. they stop the shooting back.

This is where I'm at now:

Installed the UTG picatinny scope mount(cheap $28 stuff, sitting on Bushmaster risers), upgraded the butt-pad with a thicker one(also Magpul). Scope is the freebie I got from my coworker.

I do plan on upgrading the scope & rings, but I also want a .22 pistol. :indiff:

Aside from your immature remark...

Yeah of coarse you have to get acquitted with the gun first, but afterwords add-ons are nice. Yah, grips can increase your accuracy, but scopes help precision. Guess it would depend more on the kind of gun.

Equipping a grip doesnt mean you'll be more accurate. A scope or sight may help a little. Sight for close range (squirrel or rabbit). A scope is for longer range like coyotes. One can easily hit a target from a good distance without a scope

What do you consider a "good distance"? For me, scope helps TREMENDOUSLY with speed & accuracy.

Edit: That reminds me. I gotta sight my scope in tonight, return the loaner bore sighter. :P

Scope: 100yds min. Adjust it to 2'' high at 100 yds so you have a 200 yds zero and 8'' drop at 300. And voilà! You can blast zombies from 50 up to 300yds with no scope adjustments and holdovers! :dopey:

Remember, you're shooting .308 not a .223, it has a truckload of effective range and there is no need to not use it and the scope to its full advantage.! :)

Spot on, as usual. 200 yard is the usual zero for .308 semi-autos. For bolt action rifles, I sight mine at 400 but only because I have the scope to do that accurately.

Went with a Burris? They're great for the money.
