Kinda hoped that as the 1st post was someone from UK it would be a UK friendly time. Early morning or Weekends and i'm out. I'll set one up myself for UK/Euro based guys if it is.

I think we'll find some people who can race weekends, that's if we can't work out a weekday time (we haven't decided yet!) :P And not being rude but would you mind not doing that? Finding an entire grid will take long enough without an identical series on the forum. Thanks.

I was in the middle of puting together all the info you have into an Indy Series. It wont be the same as mine. Would be at a time i (and others in the UK/Europe) can manage. There have been Indy & NASCAR series which have all been during US friendly times in the past. Thought this was going to be different. But if it is not, then i might as well be different.

Read all posts but off to bed so quick comments.

I am UK as well as is Joe. :scared: by his interest 👍

I run in leagues already fir sat and sun. Tues would be ideal.

More responses tomorrow guys.

I can make it earlier if need be. It's hard with a 5 hour time difference. Weekends might be the way to go. Or Friday nights.

I suppose tuesday is an option but it would have to be fairly early like around 7 for me. I'd Love to do later but i've got GCSE coursework and however awesome GT5 is, school is kinda important :P can anyone do that kinda time? Sorry about this guys, I didn't think it would cause so many problems.

Couldn't commit till 8:30 onwards as putting kids to bed, getting home from work etc. Weekend could only be midnight ish.

Ouch. This starting to get abit tricky. But do you think we could start at 8:30 and complete quali and a race by around 10ish? Cause that would be fine, and i'm sure it won't be too bad for our friends across the pond :)

Qualifying from 8:30 to 8:45 or 9, and racing straight after to about 10 should work out well. (Unless people want races longer than 1 hour.)

Yeah that will work fine if the other guys agree, gives me enough sleep for school on wednesday aswell :P

Looking good guys.

Racer - Like the website and read through the rules and regs. Very good. Need to add 2 points for Most Laps Led, you already have the 1 point for Pole in there.

As for times and dates. There are only a few that work for me due to family commitments and other Series I am running in. So, Tuesdays / Wednesdays 20:30 GMT onwards / Fridays 23:00 GMT onwards / Saturdays 00:00 GMT onwards

If all three of us are going to be involved in the running of this, then we all need to agree now, what time to do.

As for Testing, maintenance tonight / out tomorrow / series Sat and Sun night so effectively won't be able to get on till Monday at the earliest.

I agree with Tuesday 20:30 GMT as the starting time, should get a race started before 9 that way. 👍

Hi Knelly, I am pretty much out of room in the FGTC, have recommended this to someone and will send more your way, just dont blame me if they cant drive!
Good luck getting this going it sounds like it will be fun. (if you can agree a time) :)

Appreciate that mate, thank you 👍

I don't get off work until 4:30 EST (GMT-5) so 5pm EST would be the earliest I could start on a weekday. That's 10pm your time =/ If that doesn't work it would either have to be a weekend or I'd have to back out as I could not make the time.

Damm, thought that might be what you said mate. So, how about this idea. We host the UK version here and run it in conjunction with a US version you have over the pond. You would choose your own dates and times, we would keep to Tuesday nights. However, EVERYTHING ELSE stays exactly the same for both Series (Races / Restrictions / Teams etc etc).

At the end of both Series (which will host the same race in the same week), then we organise a US / UK Showdown featuring the Top 5 from each Series.

The three of us can still then work cloesely together, and maybe come each others Stewards for grievances etc brought against drivers in particular circumstances, to make sure that decisions are completely independent. Have a think guys!

Sounds good as long as we can get enough people interested. Instead of 5v5 at the end we could save the Indy 500 for the end of the season, and have a bump day. Everyone from both series gets to qualify. The top 4 people from both series get guaranteed spots. 1st qualifying will be the top 8 and "bump day" will be open to everyone from both series but it's only to bottom 8 spots.

What about the Friday time you mentioned? That would be 6pm my time I believe. Any way we could make that work?

I think the US vs UK idea could work well at the Indy 500 with a points system where we add up each country's and see who wins overall, would be something unique. The 500 would be good be at the end of the regular season LV, separate from the actual Championships. :) But we could also run a shorter Indy race in both series during the regular season.

We all in agreement? If so we need to get together to sort out all rules and regs, performance, schedules etc.

Yes definitely, I think it's agreed that LV can be the main organizer/steward for the American series? and we'll share the duties for the UK (creating rooms etc.) :) From your first post Knelly seems like you've got all the performance info already right? And we could use some of the races I suggested, as well as a few more.

Id also like to get involved with the testing if possible. I'm quite thorough when I do testing. I could be your guinea pig for testing or something. :sly: (Just to be clear, I'm not trying to become the 4th person running this, I just want to help out with testing.)

The closest that GT5 lets you set the weight regulations to their real settings is 690kg instead of 691.7kg (weight on ovals), and 730kg instead of 725.7kg (road courses. 720kg could also be an option for this.). Power can be set to exactly 650BHP, so that won't be an issue.

We'll probably have to make adjustments to these settings get the cars/laptimes down to their real life speeds though, due to differences in the aerodynamics, amount of revs (10,300 in real life and 18,000 in game), the extra gear in game, the (presumably) different brakes, and the different torque curves. I believe the only track in game that we can compare the actual cars with the FGTs on is Indy speedway, as that's the only IndyCar track in game (enlighten me if it's not.).

EDIT: A question. Is the maximum power of the FGT 936 BHP? I heard that their engines don't wear in like with other cars, but I doubt this and want to be sure. (Wearing a car in gives you extra torque as well as BHP, which is why I'm asking, since the extra torgue will slightly improve the car even with the power limiter in use.)

The fastest lap set at Indy this year was 39.365 seconds in friday practice, just so we have an idea of the kind of times we should be setting at Indy.

EDIT: Best I could manage at Indy was a 43.5xx with realistic regulations (650BHP, 690KG).

EDIT 2: To speed up the car, I increased the power to 907 BHP and left the weight at 690 KG. With the car in it's fastest condition (lowest possible aerodynamics, very low fuel, fresh set of racing soft tyres) I got a 39.177 . I have decreased the BHP by another 10, which should be enough to get it to roughly the same as the real life fastest lap I posted above.

So I believe that 690 KG and 897 BHP should be the settings used at Indy (assuming you want realistic solo laptimes. Drafting laptimes will be 1-2 seconds faster.). For Daytona we may need lower BHP to decrease the possibility of crashes (higher speeds=higher chance of incidents at Daytona). As for road courses, the realistic regulations should be fine.

I tested last week and I could put the weight to exactly 691kg and 725kg respectively if I remember rightly, just saying. Thanks for the stats Joe, us 3 will probably get together and test the cars, so we'll try out those settings :) Can I propose a race schedule, including my original ones? (Dates TBA)

Florida Grand Prix 28 laps, 100 miles, Daytona Road Course
Indy 200 80 laps, 200 miles, Indianapolis Speedway
Indy Japan 100 32 laps, 100 miles, Tokyo R246 Reverse!
Indiana Grand Prix 38 laps, 100 miles, Indianapolis Road Course
Mazda Grand Prix of California 45 laps, 100 miles, Laguna Seca
Daytona 200 IndyCar Finale 80 laps, 200 miles, Daytona Speedway
[Regular Season End, US and UK Champions decided]
World Series Indy 500 200 laps, 500 miles, Indianapolis Speedway (UK vs US team competitions)

EDIT: Please do tell me anymore courses you think would be suitable (or realistic) for this series.

You can set the car's weight to those numbers, but not the weight regulations in the room, which can only move in multiples of 10 (and there's no way to check the weight of someone's car). I'll look into tracks we could use. One possible track could be Madrid, since IndyCar has races in cities and I feel that Madrid (or Tokyo) would fit nicely.

Ahh I see. Well we'd just have to hope that people play by the rules :P Yeah Tokyo seems a good idea, quite a good long street track. I'll add it 👍
