Red Bull RB9 launch

Easy to spot some changes to the rear here:

And those sidepod intakes seem pretty small, even more than the Sauber, and narrower. Poor Renault engines are going to have another hard year.

Definitely, but other than the intakes, they seem to be about the same size as the RB8.

I take it back, I'm starting to like the new paint job the more I look at it. Looks really good in the photos above.

Purple looks awful IMO, doesn't goes with the rest of it. It's like when people photoshop cars but it never quite looks right.

Also it looks to me that they have a 'mini' modesty panel of sorts.

I think Newey confirmed this if I remember.

Yeah it's more or less just their own little way of slightly reducing the step angle, not a real modesty panel, more like a ramp... thingy.

And the rear-facing slot is to allow negative pressure from underneath to bleed up and create a bit of downforce, like a monkeyseat for the front, negligible, but every single tiny ounce counts of course. It's the same idea on the Sauber, an "S-duct."

My eyes probably decieve me but these part looks interesting...or not.

Well, the exhaust/rear sidepod is going to look different once it's out on track, so those things could change for sure. I was looking over the rear as much as possible but really couldn't find anything too different myself. I did read that this analysis from F1technical talking about a couple points:

Particularly interesting is yet again the rear end of the car. While the exhaust area is likely to change early on in testing, a way for the team to give away too much at the launch, some changes are remarkable. One of these is the swan neck on the beam wing, which denotes a different style of connection of the beam wing to the chassis. While this is traditionally done by a single support underneath the wing (because that is the shortest connection possible), Red Bull have now used a connection that attached to the upper surface of the beam wing, cleaning up the area underneath the wing.

However, the most peculiar item of the car is a bulge in the floor just behind the exhaust outlet (which on its behalf also appeared to be a 2012 specification bodywork element). This bulge was notably absent on the renderings that Red Bull Racing released of its new car. It is surely also no coincidence that no pictures were revealed of the car's rear end, with the media present not allowed to take any pictures at all.

RBR is threatening to take cameras away from the media taking pictures of the car.
Apparently it went further than threats - Keith Collantine from F1 Fanatic said he nearly had his mobile phone taken from him by security hired from the firm G4S.

Too much Infiniti on the livery for my liking, no doubt in my mind that it could score Red Bull their 4th consecutive WCC.

No doubt huh? You're gonna be in for a very surprising season 👍

Could is the key word in there. And it is definitely possible that this car has a likely chance of winning the WCC yet again. Not a certainty, but a good chance.

Considering that Red Bull are one of the largest teams (if not the largest) and spend the most money over the course of a season, I wonder what Mark Webber would consider a big team to be?

That's exactly what I thought when I heard him say "small operation."

You can run an F1 factory out of a barn for all I care, but if it spends half a billion dollars, I'm not going to give you kudos for getting a WDC and WCC three years in a row by doing it as an underdog.

I just detest the way they keep trying to make themselves out to be The Little Team That Could, as if they're operating on a shoestring budget and beating teams ten times their size.
