Original race cars based on actual cars is staple of GT series, you know. Do people even remember those LM Edition/Race Cars? đź’ˇ
A sim is about simulating anything. The driving physics are what are simulated here, not the design of the cars.Because a sim is about simulating real things.
Real things yes. Made up stuff. No.A sim is about simulating anything. The driving physics are what are simulated here, not the design of the cars.
You can. You could invent your own physics and simulate them if you wanted to. Simulation is simply about something that replicates something else. You cannot simulate anything if it has no basis in reality.
@Tired Tyres Although I understand your point and up to a point I agree, the made up stuff we are discussing here is cars wich are basically RM´ed to rally spec.
They start from a real world vehicle base so it is not like the entirely fictional Vision GT vehicles. In a way it is more possible to simulate this then the R390 GT1 you have on your thumbnail, that PD probably never had the oportunity to drive or conduct tests on

It's possible, if far-fetched, that PD and the FIA collaborated and devised a set of rules for the cars that are built specifically for GT Sport. These do have a basis in reality, though. Really, it's no different than using the modifications in GT6 to turn the performance up on existing models.
I totally agree when it comes to things like the ridiculous rolling peacock that is the SRT VGT, with "technologies that haven't been invented yet", but an Alfa 4C turned into a GT3-spec car? My desire for real cars is outweighed by how badly I wish Alfa would make something like that.
That being said, I'm very confused as to why GTS doesn't include cars that do have real-world racing versions, like the C7.R Vette.
Oh boy, and I remember when people started suggesting that PD should fit VGT's to existing rulebooks, or create racing cars that fit certain regulations, like SMS did with PCars.
Now that PD does it there's people complaining about it... Logic isn't the strongest point of some people.
They don't have to pay licensing fees and can make a car which fits with the other GT3 spec machines (there's no GT3 Corvette from Chevrolet, only the Callaway Competition cars, which would need another license). That being said, I'm very confused as to why GTS doesn't include cars that do have real-world racing versions, like the C7.R Vette.
Can the mustang crash into the crowd on rally stagesI'm gonna say great idea, because I've always loved the idea of customizing a car to match a particular aesthetic that while not era-correct, symbolizes creativity and style. Also, diecasts. I want diecasts of these cars. Especially the Mustang.
PS, I also want a '16 Chevy Camaro Group B to go against the Mustang. Hopefully car customization can make this happen.
Are you referencing that most Mustang crashes into crowds on car meets ?Can the mustang crash into the crowd on rally stages
I'm longing for the time where the rally tracks in GT is as good as Dirt Rally.PD never disappoints when it comes to their fantasy race cars. The more the merrier I say! I'd love to see the cars from here make an appearance too (https://www.carwow.co.uk/blog/modern-day-rally-cars-wed-like-to-see).
Shame that the rally track still looks like a simple flat surface with just a reduced grip and gravel texture on top though. Oh well at least there's Dirt Rally.

ThanksWow that's actually nice.

Not a problem for other games, don't see why it would be for PD.This.
Same applies for the F-Type....Jaguar dropped the real GT3 program, and PD put this little treat for the fans...gotta love how PoDi guys are so enthusiastic and how they show their love about cars and motorsport world...yeah but I'm going OT
About the C7...I think there's always been some licensing issues with the modern racing versions of the Corvettes...even the C6.R is a mockup labelled as LM Race Car in GT6
Not all times it's about licensing issues. One of PD's major advantages are the cars that they designed and/or design (like the LM, VGTs, and the actual cars), because that shows creativity and love to car designing and motorsport, one example it's exactly this thread's main theme, considering how legendary and unique it's the group b for rally fans, another would be the homologation cars they made like the Fairlady/350Z Z33 concept LM (based on it's real life z32 counterpart), and sometimes, those cars can end up being better than the based real-life model, for me, if the developer doesn't show it's own creativity in the game (apart of building enviroments and typical stuff), then it's just another game, and, if you want to say it's not a simulation thing, then explain, why PCars have their own house-designed cars?? So does Live for speed??Face it, Polyphony has a terrible licensing department. Just about every major manufacturer has licensed their real cars to Turn 10, including Porsche and Rolls Royce, so no, it's not difficult to get certain cars. You just have to be determined to get real cars and not create fantasy replacements or vision cars.
