I feel itbisba good move by PD to use modern cars. Keeps a new generation interested by seeing today's cars in the game. Besides, PD usually educate the players by displaying knowledge of motor vehicle history.

Initially, I wasn't looking that forward to it. Mainly because how stale off-road racing iS in GT. If Piles Peak makes a surprise DLC(most to highly unlikely), it will be one of the most used tracks ever.

Welp, since probably won't see the E30 Gr.B. May as well do an M235i Gr.B.

One can dream...

Again, this would be a cool addition but where are the real group B cars ?

For this FIA sanctioned game I'd imagine Group B is something they'd like to forget... otherwise, these classic cars in a game focused on modern machinery and sport would feel out of place.

I see the GT Sport offerings being a modern interpretation of the Group B mentality.

Considering we have Gr. B cars, is it much of a reach that we see some faster Gr. A cars?

The insane downforce for a start.

But that shouldn't be a concern. With the VGT's being shoe-horned into various categories (a Chiron-based car running with modern endurance prototypes), there's no reason PD couldn't nerf the 208 T16's colossal downforce to fit it in line with the Group B cars.

That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if the already-confirmed RCZ Group B cribs a whole lot of details from that car anyway.

That's good, reminds me of my Camaro rendering

I'm quite looking forward to these cars. Mainly, after driving off-road in GTA V. Thinking back to Pikes Peak, how awesome would it be, to have the different variations in the game. Pretty much the most epic of Time Trials to run over and over using every car available. That would be a good trophy to get: Set a TT using every car in GTS.

@The Stig Farmer I think Group A cars would actually be slower than the Group B cars, if they were to make the game, assuming that they are built to FIA specification. Group A cars would be closer to their production models, much like the Impreza's and the Evo's of the 90's. All the same, a dirt course is a dirt course, so hill climb cars like the Suzuki aren't an impossibility :)

I based this off of the road racing classification i.e. Gr. 1/3/4 - less is more etc. We don't know if these Gr. B cars were designed as actual Group B cars or whether this is just PD's own nomenclature

Don't know if this has been discussed yet, but since GT Sport is an E-Sports game, I'm surprised that rally cars have made the game at all. I honestly thought rally was an afterthought of the series.

Considering they've made the effort to re-imagine Group B rally cars, I wonder if there will be some kind of rally championship alongside all the track based events. Knowing GT, it will be more like Rallycross, but even so, the idea of driving modern Group B rally cars on a dirt circuit with live TV coverage is simply amazing, not to mention the fact that cars themselves will be carrying custom liveries :)

I see. Come to think of it, I approve of your theory, because if that's the case, PD have only scratched the surface for off-road racing in GT Sport :)

It would be amazing to watch a faster driver navigate a course and catch up to a slower driver. Also, to see which drivers are able to set their cars up better, even if they are not the fastest.

Group B will be popular with players who obviously, prefer point to point racing and may gain fans from those new to the series.

I'm not really happy with the idea to introduce modern Group B rally cars. Real Group B cars belong to past and as such should only appear in game as vintage, authentic models as they were.

It would be much better idea to bring few road-going 'hatches that could be modified into S1600 cars (Ignis, C2, etc.)
