Reimagined Group B Rally Cars

There are a lot of possibilites and a group3 Mustang is as good as any. But I would prefer they got the new Ford GT for that role.

Being that said, truth is if somebody told me there would be a Mustang Group B version prior to Gt Sport presentation I wouldn´t thought it was that great of an idea. But here I am thoroughly impresses with the execution.

So as bad as PD can mess up lots of things in their games, truth is this reality based fantasy race cars always are very compeling. Imagine the CRX del Sol LM, or the FTO LM, or the Altezza LM and many others converted to modern graphics... Pretty tasty :D

I headed up PD with the GT a while back :D

Thinking about doing it again!! :D

I suspect it's rather more along the lines that Polyphony didn't want to pay a real team for the license, so they just made their own race car.
And why would they not want to pay real teams? Heck, they already did for the new R8 LMS, otherwise it either wouldn't be in the game, or it would be a fictionalized version.

They will certainly tie in well with the 2017 WRC regulations. I've been looking at the test videos for Citroen, VW and Toyota on YouTube and the cars will definitely have a Group B vibe. Wide bodies, louder engines and turbos and of course, they will be a lot faster.

Seeing a production car modified to this extent for the purpose of rally driving is quite something. Since there are no major expenses involved in creating virtual rally cars, Gran Turismo Sport seems like the ideal platform for Group B inspired concepts.

Needless to say, I am looking forward to driving GT's latest generation of rally cars. Real or not, they should be a blast :)

That thing sounds vicious! I can't wait to be routing for Toyota in WEC and WRC.
Sorry for the off-topic.

You must continue to do this FOREVER!! Those are simply wonderful.

If you're taking requests, I'd love to see some RUF in racing trim. Well... heck anything really.
I'd be OK with someone else besides me giving their own take on a Group B 2016 Camaro

I don't think I would make a RUF until I see PD's Gr.3 build, if it looks beastly, they schooled me, if it doesn't, I will school them! Besides, institute is killing me... But definetly, a RUF is a must for me to do! :D. As for the GT, still thinking about a spec 3.5, using today's GTLM as a base!
Damn dude! You should make more of these when you have the time. Having this and the road version will be sweet! :) Awesome job and great imagination! 👍
The road GT, I wouldn't call it 100% sure, but it's obviously coming to either GTS or GT7! Now the question is if we are getting a racing counterpart (either a PD-made or the actual one) with it, even with the whole history behind it's development! Since I posted those on GT's FB page, tagged them (and Kaz) on IG and Twitter, and even suggested it on the cars' suggestion forum (got blocked obviously), pretty sure PD saw it! So if it happens, you know who you all have to thank for it :sly:. And thanks!! :embarrassed:

Great to see that this thread I created is getting nice feedback from the GTP community 👍

And as the thread is evolving, I think we can start making a list of the cars that could give good bases to be modified to GT3 spec or Group B spec.
Let´s say each of us have 3 spots for each category. I´ll start with mine:

Group 3:
Ford GT
RUF RGT (991 gen based)
SRT Viper

Group B:
Toyota 86
Lotus Exige
BMW M2

Ok, did some research and I found PD made a Neo-retro version the Montecarlo Mini rally car, using the 02 Cooper back then on GT concept, I know Mini it's yet to be mentioned on GTS, but if they made a Gr.B car with Mini (using the VGT like VW), would love to see it like this!

Edit: all VGTs confirmed for GTS according to page! A Gr.B Mini can be close!!

I'd forgot about the rally mini in Concept. That was by far my favourite spin-off in the series. Better than a prologue.

Hmmm... except that WRC cars will move even further away from anything that car manufacturers will ever sell to the public... unlike Group B (and Group A) days when they had to build production versions.

I'm bitter and old and straying off topic but rallying used to interest me when you could buy something like an Impreza, Evo, Escort Cosworth, Celica GT4 etc etc that actually resembled something you'd see going rallying.

I don't 'get' rallying these days... Is there really any value for the manufacturers to bother? Does it really help them sell Fiestas, Polos, DS3s... etc? I guess I'm not seeing the 'bigger picture' but to me, WRC cars are so far removed from their production variants these days, they might as well be flying spaceships.

So yeah... to get back on topic... re-imagined fictional Group B? If that is what it really is... then yeah, why not?! Probably better than reality.

What about the Stratos? The car itself was never built to shift units, with the road going versions being far from practical. Yet, it helped Lancia develop its reputation as a strong Motorsport contender. People buy into the image, and Motorsport success is a great way of conveying reliability and heritage. As far as I can tell, manufacturers have a very good reason to be part of the WRC. My perception of Hyundai for instance has changed from average, to impressive, since they now have two rally wins under their belt.

Ultimately, Motorsport is the best way that manufacturers can display technological innovation. They could tone the cars down so they are closer to their road going versions, but where's the fun in that? I always thought rally fans wanted Group B style cars to come back, what with the massive wings and splitters and the insane power.

It's the same story with these Group B concepts. You can't buy them, but they still help to develop the image of the respective brand :)

Would more likely be the Challenger I'd suspect since GT3 is a 2-door category.
I did remember seeing a SRT8 Challenger Touring car in GT6 and GT5. It didn't have a rear wing but it handled really nice. I would put it in the FIA GT3 category.

Just suggesting. A really nice race car to add in GTS would be a Mclaren P1 GTR or just the P1.
