It is free weekend for FM5 (Gold Members only though), probably not best advertisement of game given the servers by the sounds of it haven't been working properly since about this time yesterday.

Plumped for an Xbox One yesterday and bought Forza 5 today, local game store still had a limited edition day one copy so got that. Just updating and installing now and trying to pass the time here by posting an awkwardly pointless long post because I just want to play now..
Can you tell me how much it had to download to have everything? Not install just downloaded parts.
Really want/need to know.

It installs as it's downloaded so there is not a way to just download the game and install it later if that's why you are wondering

Is there still plans for an "Ultimate" edition of this game? Like a copy that includes all DLC etc. I thought there was earlier in the year but can't find much on it

Ahh okay thanks. "Usually dispatched within a month" so I assume that means it's not out yet?

Apparently it was set to launch on July 22nd so I'm assuming it's out.

It includes all disc content, the free tracks and the Top Gear car pack. IIRC the car pack is £7.99 on the store, and £40 new seems to be the average price for FM5 alone at most retailers so I don't think that is a great deal.

You're right, that sounds like a big premium to pay to avoid downloading the tracks and TG pack, especially since the other packs aren't included.

Sounds a bit of a half arsed release to me. Perhaps FM6 will get more love when it's time comes around.

Now that you mention it, it's a silly move. The only thing they should release is a version with all DLC available. There is no real advantage in getting the RGOTY version.

If you want to down load all the free updates then don't get the GOTY edition. Have fun watching a progress bar for the next 2 hours

Actually the GOTY is 3 euro cheaper in Greece than the plain version so it's not a bad move (but FM5 is free with the Xbone :P).

How come the GOTY edition hasn't had any official reviews?

I can't find it. Let me try searching the web again... hope I don't have to eat my own hat!

What's going on in the public lobbies, before the servers went down it was probably 10% of players wrecking (in my experience), now it's almost every 2nd player.

When I finally managed to find a clean-ish lobby it was a complete joke, one of the drivers who I recognised as very fast from the leaderboards was using the top leaderboard car for every race, normally I wouldn't mind this but they were using every shortcut possible (Turn 1 Indy GP, most of Yas Marina etc.) and the closest competition was me in a Punto (3-4 seconds slower per lap without shortcuts), the rest of the lobby were mostly lower levels and never really came close to finishing with this guy in the lobby, I was thinking he could at least slow down near the finish line and allow them some more time to reach the finish.

I was running into that alot last week, @Im_Lukas. I especially hate when they take the first two turns on Catalunya. Why even race like that? What do they think they are actually winning? In that same A-class room, I was using my RX7 and was always on podium against a bunch of supercars and the like. I swear, I felt like I was targeted by everyone in that room. I guess they dont like getting slaughtered by a vibrant hot pink RX7 while they were in their Ferrari's and Lamborghinis

I am surprised even after 5 games, and promoting Forza as a serious driving game, they do nothing to ban or take corrective action against gamers displaying bad race craft.

Maybe they should start advertising on the game box: includes destruction derby-like multiplayer.

Theyve been doing that for years now.

Every game warns you about playing online.

When you come across anyone you don't want to race with again and is just crashing on purpose, go to their profile. Block them and report them for unsporting behavior and put in crashing or what ever else you feel necessary. The system they have is much better at spotting false reports than they had on the 360, so they say. It has worked for me, I rarely get in a race with idiots crashing.

ABC's is the only lobby i frequent these days. Anyone who has not tried it yet and is sick and tired of people going out of their way to ruin your race, i suggest you give it a go.

Don't get me wrong, you do get the odd idiot in there but imo it's by far the cleanest lobby and not much first corner mayhem (due to the mixed classes)

Best lobby in my opinion, wish they had one with Prototypes and GT cars. I've been going back to FM4 to race in the Forza Le Mans lobby, hope that returns in FM6.

It still baffles me though why they keep cutting good stuff from previous Forzas, every time a new one is released. The dev time doesn't change - it's always two years. So why has this been happening since FM2?

This will help you to guess the reasons of most of the Forza's changes and decissions.

"Sadly, Barry [Turn 10’s Executive Producer] told us that no pit strategy options available (apparently
pit stops are boring for most Forza racers
in Microsoft’s focus groups. We’d opine that they had the wrong people in their focus group)."

Bye bye relaxed chat...

I guess they're spending time on introducing other stuff like learning how to program for an entire new console in FM5's case. Every new iteration has dropped features from the previous games but has also added new features. It's not an ideal situation but how long would it take to develop a perfect Forza? Longer than two years I'd imagine.
