I've said it before and I'll keep saying it

Shift 2 would have the very best driving game of its gen if they hadn't muffed the handling

I must admit I hated the handling but 2 years ago I booted back up Shift 2 on the xbox 360 with a MS steering wheel and worked out finally that they had borked the handling on a lot of cars due to stupid steering ratio's and camber etc.
Both PCars and Shift 2 share the fact they both require a lot of messing about regards settings but under all of that is incredible games which I think for me anyway Shift 2 is the game I would say I liked the most.

Shifts biggest issue was 2 fold, 1. Going up against GT and Forza franchises in their glory years and trying to be them rather than forging their own path like say Race Pro, what happened was all the GT / Forza crazies fighting each other suddenly all turned together and started ripping into Shift 2......
2nd thing........ had EA on the box...... to idiots instantly it was NEED FOR SPEED.... problem with idiots is they can spend a lot of time on the internet spreading bile...the reason they have a lot of spare time is because they are idiots......
Shift 2 was flawed but the most visceral racing game I've ever played on console..ever. closest thing to it was Le Mans 24hr on Dreamcast IMO or ToCA 2...

It also does have hideous input lag, although it's possible to learn to deal with that as well.

I agree completely that it's actually a better game than many give it credit for. If you play on PC the input lag goes away for the most part. If you tune the cars correctly they actually drive reasonably well. It's got a nice little career structure, some great DLC, and an incredible tuning system. And yes, it puts you in the moment of racing better than just about anything else.

I think it deserved all the hate that it got because the problems with it were fairly massive, but hiding underneath is a decent little game if people like it enough to dig for it.

Career structure was ace! To circle this back to Forza Turn 10 need to keep to what they do which is in my view a petrol heads playground, yes you can do some daft things, yes theres some daft cars in it... but man, come on lighten up, we can all watch Donnie Darko or some Art house French film, but sometimes we want to kick back and watch Die Hard or Taken. Why should all driving games be the same?
I'm confident the next Forza won't be Forzaject Cars, because it doesn't need to be, it needs to take a few direction changes but none drastic.
Currently I give time to Moto GP, PCars, Forza 6, Horizon 2, DiRT rally and just got F1 2015 for £12.50 I am also looking forward to having The Crew for free on xbox live shortly...
I'm glad those games all do stuff differently, why the hell would anyone not be??

Do we expect a new car pack to drop today or next week?

Kinda what I was wondering. If there's big plans for E3, it might make sense to push it to tomorrow, even if it's not yet the start of June.

Alternately, T10 could push it to the Tuesday that opens E3. Not only would it align with what they did with the 'Ring in 2014, but Le Mans happens the following weekend. Perfect timing for an overdue racing version of a certain cover car...

Yep. They haven't said that the last one was the last DLC pack so I fully expect there to be one.

They've always said in the past "that this was the last DLC pack".

First Tuesday of the month so next week right?

Pushing it too E3 does make sense though and I feel that a E3 DLC pack would be free like the Honda pack or the last one from Forza 5.

Did FH2 have a free pack?

What happened with the Porsche GT2 that never reared its head? And the RS1600 for that matter? Any developments?

Nothing. There's still a bunch of cars that are unreleased or heavily rumored to be in the game - whether we'll actually see them is another story.

  1. 1973 Ford Escort RS1600
  2. 2011 Citroen DS3 (leak for October Car Pack)
  3. 2008 Ferrari California
  4. 1966 Nissan Silvia
  5. 2016 Ford #66 Ecoboost GT LM (confirmed by T10 to eventually come to the game)
  6. 2015 Nissan GT-R Nismo (on the mod card)
  7. 1970 Dodge Charger F&F (Dom's Charger, was only available for a short time w/Furious 7, could get a possible re-release?)
  8. 1995 Porsche 911 GT2 (Rear spoiler in the trailer for Porsche Expansion)
  9. 1971 Ford Falcon XY GTHO (from the bowden collection leak last year
I think that's all of them IIRC.

I'd also add those to the list:

Savage Rivale (its logos couldn't be imported into Forza 6. Just like Caparo's)
http://www.forzamotorsport.net/en-us/news/wir_8_28_15

Porsche '71 Carrera
(Magnus' "277", mentioned by Evo Magazine)

..and then we have a few mentioned in the Forzavista's commentaries (Chevrolet Monza DeKon and the Peugeot 405 T16). All the others mentioned were added (Mazda RX7 GTO, Nissan 300ZX GTS, Opel GT etc.).

I'd prefer a track pack than a car one to be honest although it's highly unlikely that it'll happen. Circuit Gilles Villeneuve please T10 make it come true.

Ahh yes, I forgot about these!

I've also noticed that the Forzavista commentaries mention the Mazda USF2000 and the Infiniti Indy Lights car as well - both were in FM5 and aren't in FM6. IDK if we'll see these return though.

Any other interesting forzavista commentary mentions or are these all we know about?

I think they had mentioned the Tyrell P34 as well, the six wheeled one.

How odd they mention the Savage Rivale, despite not being in Forza 5. Then again, the code for Horizon 2 listed a couple of bikes I gather, so the world of T10 and PG is a curious one.

PRC is like The Sun for sim racing, sometimes he makes a good call but a lot of his content is either drama for drama's sake or flat out wrong. Fun to read but I wouldn't take it seriously; he reported as fact that Turn 10 were going to buy out the developers of Assetto Corsa and had to backpedal 2 days later when his source told him he was providing false info.

He's just had a nightmare with a story about Ian Bell moving to Singapore when in fact he moved 10 months or so ago all a bit embarrassing for James for sure.

VXR
Oh dear. Sounds like a bit of a wally.

Yes he was suggesting a scandal as in Ian Bell moves to Singapore its all falling a part blah blah blah.
Truth is Ian Bell is a very rich man who like all rich men wants to keep as much of that wealth to themselves. I don't give a screw where he lives just so long as he makes PCars 2 as good as it should be.

Man, going up against some of these clan racers in X lobbies can be so demoralizing. I'll set the fastest laps I ever have and they run 2-3 seconds faster. It's just insane how good some of these guys are.

I thought I read or heard somewhere that T10 already said they couldn't model it with the current physics engine (i.e. it's limited to vehicles with four tires). Wouldn't mind being wrong about that, though...

One hobby I've picked up in Forza 6 is choosing a car and driving 5 laps around VIR North in Rivals. I don't find the track to be too long or short, so the most time it will take me is about 10 minutes.

It serves as a nice warm up before racing or when I can only squeeze in a little bit of playtime that day.

Think I'm going to drive the 2016 MX-5 for today's session. :)
