It's impossible to make it realistic because of GT5's unrealistic draft model. The force is way too strong. PD need to bring us an option to turn it down or they need to turn it down themselves.

This is what I'm talking about. They're all giving everything they got, but still just barely closing in on the one in front. And also, the car in front gain speed just by having cars behind closing in on him, without actual contact.

Still makes for fun racing though.

Good fun. I hope you set a series up. Hopefully we can make something like Talladega and Bristol in the course maker.👍

Always looking for fun racing (NASCAR) plates or no plates. I have friends who do both too. So add me, I'm always on

PSN ID: CrAzY_bAsSiSt_83

I got a draft and suddenly whoosh I was 20mph quicker than everyone. It was weird. I'm gonna play on track editor for a bit...

And I can be careful. I don't drive like in longer races though.

Heavy damage is a no-no IMO. It's to sensitive. If I could choose it would be permanant but as sensitive as light damage.

That's what I'm saying. You get too much draft in GT5, so you need to come off the gas pedal, not just drive straight into the pack and hope for the best.

Don't worry. I think we all need practise for this new type of racing.

How about we do it again Friday Night, same time, my lounge?

Have run in some good races with American friends online; great fun when no punters in the race; having headset mics is also good ('stay low, stay low').

Don't bother with the track editor. I've already tried, and any attempts at making an oval track are futile.

I've made an oval already on the track creator. Only problem is that the turns were right. I wish we could put a pit lane and banking in Eiger kart because you can get the shape and distance of Bristol pretty easily.

Thats the problem a lot of people have when they switch over to NASCAR type racing. You don't need to rush to first. You can stay in the draft for awhile and then make your move towards the end of the race.

Course maker only does clockwise tracks i think.

I've got anti-clockwise as well. It's just there usually is a hairpin disrupting a perfect oval.

Not trying to disrespect anyone on here but the drivers on iRacing are way better than most on the PS3.More drivers per race (43) better servers and different Sim.Your correct about the draft, almost like a boost.

^ You got that right.

I've opened a room now in case someone wants to do some racing.

Room number: 1472-6681-3630-4565-6245

The default gears seem pretty realistic to me, but maybe I'm the only one looking for realism here, lol.

So I was playing around with the course editor for a little bit and i managed to get a very good flat out oval for NASCARS and the elevation changes aren't serious at all. Plus its on a straight. The layout below:

Left turns or right turns.

After playing with it earlier the only track I can seem to get anti-clockwise is Toscana. Eiger and Mt.Aso all want to go to the right.👎

The default gears for the HP restrictions we are using are wayyyyyyy to long.
Yeah, just watched some videos, and you're right. I didn't think the cars reved as much as they do.

I also noticed that in real life the cars is restricted to around 450 hp. Has anyone tried this and shortened the gears?

Yeah. We are only hitting 4th gear about 175mph.

Thansk for all the interest guys, and one thing about course creator - I've created some ovals but they only hold 12 cars. Some idea do seem interesting though - evening race at Toscana anyone? And I got a 0.5 Tokyo kart track that is insanely close...

Still, see you all tomorrow at 8pm GMT!

Just tried 450 hp and gears set to 205 mph, and I gotta say it felt pretty damn good. I went 180 mph. Remember that a pack of cars drafting only reaches around 190 mph in real life.

I think we should at least try this and see what everyone think.
