Revolution Studios :: Merc SL65 Part Two!

The paint looks good as it is, though I wish the difference between the orange and red was a little more pronounced. On the front left corner the red, I think, should be more, well, red. I think a brighter setting would work better tha this dark area; you would have more visible surface on the car to work with to emphasize the colors. I think you should make a bunch of these color change picsto see what they all look like.
But how do you do it, anyway? Obviously you don't use the airbrush, you said you used four different layers. I was thinking you would just lightly paint highlights on the car's surface. Do you cut out or select the car and then play with its hue on each layer or something? I just thought that you could make an additional layer, take a brush, apply the color, and use the history brush on the areas you didn't want the color. I don't know.

Rohrl-fan - Thanks, I'm glad you like it, the Golf looks good in orange, doesn't it?
tougemonster - Thank you! :dopey::P
magburner - Thanks.
keef - If I get time I may make some more colour-changed pics for this week's comp, it depends on how busy I am. And to answer your question, a good photoshopper never reveals his secrets!! :P Only joking ;)
Step 1 - Select the body of the car and put it on a layer by itself.
Step 2 - Adjust hue and saturation to get the desired colour effect
Step 3 - To add different colour highlights (a la the yellow in the golf) use a colour to target (not sure what its called in PS) brush to change the colour from red to yellow.
Step 4 - Duplicate the layer with the new colour on.
Step 5 - Change the first colour layer to layer blending options > colour
Step 6 - Change the second colour layer to overlay
Step 7 - Duplicate or reduce the opacity of the overlay layer to add more highlights or shadowsor remove them.
Hope that makes sense to ya.
MKThreeGTi - Hehe, that was the look I was going for with a soft focus :)

Just noticed your SLR set at George V posted a week ago. My last update also was with the SLR with that same colour in that same track... :dopey:

Great gallery, by the way. 👍

vr6gti72 - You think so? Thanks.
appie17 - Thanks, I'll do that :)
DiabolicalMask - Thanks, great minds think alike :P BTW, I saw your SLR pics, theyre pure eye candy :)

Perfect Balance - Thanks, I'm glad you like it :)
el flexo - Thanks mate, practice makes perfect. Oh, and I'll be sure to take a look in your gallery when I get some spare time :P
Dick Steel - Thanks :dopey:
sejtur - Thanks, I like the way the colours came out in it. And about the cleanup, I used mainly the smudge brush with an opacity of around 75-80 to clean up the textures and jaggies.
Rohrl-fan - Thank you! I agree that the Golf is probably a better picture, but the Viper's pearlescent paint is much nicer looking :D
magburner - Thanks, I'll stop by your gallery now :)

Thanks for the tips on color-shift paint, I'm sure everyone could put it to good use.
This SRT-10 is stunning! The colors you chose work so well with the personality of the car. The paint looks like super hot fire, like the big V10 is just belching flames of power, which it does. It looks evil and overpowering and I love it. I also like the design of the cobblestone road there in France.

Hehe, thanks keef, I'm glad the Viper pic makes you so happy :dopey: :D
The Viper was done using a slightly different method, I put the car body on a layer by itself, and then I put the brightness and contrast up, and finally I adjusted the Hue Map until I was happy with the different colours. Alot less time consuming than the other method, I think you'll agree. And last, I just smoothed and cleaned the textures to remove jaggies and bad textures.

Revolution can you take some pictures of the 98' Audi S4 in White and Make them bright silver and mess around with photoshop for me please? I would like one of your amazing photo skills as my wallpaper on my PC and since i have an S4 id want 1 from the game :) thank you

Very nice viper! I also want to be as good as you:). Loved your Golf to 👍

If got time stop by my gallery and comment my color change :scared:

AUDI S4 MAN - I'll see what I can do for you, I don't have a 98 S4 at the moment, but I'll scour the used car lots to find one.
Fyffe - Thanks :dopey: I'm glad you like the colour change pics. I'll be sure to have a look at your gallery.

Anyhow, I'll have a new gallery update coming soon in the next few days, so watch this space!

tougemonster - Thanks :)
AUDI S4 MAN - Still no luck on finding an S4, but I'll keep you posted.
Fletch - Thanks! I'm glad you like them both.

And now, to business. I've had this update cookin' for a few days now, and I've been itching to upload it here and show everyone, but haven't been able to find the time to do it. But, as I have some spare time this evening, I'm finally posting them up for for your viewing pleasure. They are of my beautiful Aston Martin Vanquish, dressed in a dark blue, taken at Trial Mountain with mature colours. I personally think they are some of my best-ever work, and I love each of them. Two of these showcase the 'around-the-corner' blur that I am trying to perfect, let me know how you think it turned out.

These pics are fantastic!!! 👍 I love them all, but the first one is my favourite. Excellent job!!! They look a bit like the original press-release pics of the Vanquish S a few years back.

Thanks, Rohrl-fan, the first is my favourite too. In fact, the Vanquish S press release pics were my inspiration for these pics, and one of the reasons I used mature colours.

 Those four big pics are the bomb! Great angles and lighting - awsome! You spent a lot of time on the cars and it shows, fantastic stuff!👍

You asked about the around the corner blur on the two pictures you used it on, well... IMO the first pic is better than the second pic. heres why.

The blur on the first looks great, it follows the corner nicely, and the curve looks nice and smooth. Im not sure if there is supposed to be a neutral area in front of the car where the tarmac is defined, but I feel like it is missing somehow.

The blur on the second pic looks good too, but the curner seems to turn under the car, rather than around the back of it. If thats how its supposed to look, then I've got it wrong, again, I feel there should be a neutral area of tarmac in front of the car that is defined.

Great stuff mate, you are making me want to try this technique for myself. Keep those updates coming! :dopey:
