--- GT Racing Classes of 1997 and 1998 Reunion! ---
People, ISI's Panoz Esperante series is going to get MUCH better with the inclusion of one such automobile...

http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Panoz GTR-1

...the Panoz GTR-1. I've always refered to it as the Panoz Esperante GT1. This car is likely going to bring back visions of Sports Car GT, especially those who raced this awesome American race car in SCGT. Unlike SCGT, this car is in greater detail and with its own interior. The boys at Image Space wants to have some multi-class racing involving the awesome Panoz Esperante line. I've always considered Panoz and Mosler as America's two most underrated sports car companies. Some may say overlooked, I say underrated. I even remember when in 2004 when Panoz Motorsport shown off the Larbre Competition Esperante. I also remember how Australian Leigh Diffey proficiently pronounced "Batman-mobile" about this car. Racingsportscars.com's entry on the 2004 Panoz machine was referred to as the Panoz GTP #003 and competed in the LMP1 category. It was still a hark back to the era of road racing I missed out on. Click on this link to see a picture of the Panoz GTP #003 raced at the 2004 24 Hours of Le Mans:

This should be fun to race in rFactor. I can already imagine taking this thing out to Le Mans and just beating the heck out of this track with this car. Another incentive to this is that it will hold you over if you're awaiting the Sports Car Challenge and/or the Le Mans Series mod. This will GREATLY hold you over in addition to the Panoz Esperante GT-LM. It's all released April 17th. So get to downloading by then, players!

So there's going to be a Panoz Esperante series abound. I don't know about you, but I'd love to see this as part of the SR Grand Prix in rFactor. At least you have some proper race cars to use. Do you think this Panoz Esperante deal should be its own series or part of the SR Grand Prix?

I'd like to be able to combine this mod with the FIA GT mod, along with a few other cars like the McLaren F1 and Pagani Zonda GT mods. Sadly every time I've attempted to combine mods, or use cars from one mod in another, I've failed. There's something I'm not doing right. Obviousely.

Perhaps it's everything :lol:.

Fear not, TVR buddy of mine. You know... someone made a comment on rfactorcentral.com asking about if we're going to see maybe the Panoz LMP Roadster in rFactor. You know me- I'd love to race that. I kind of think that the progression towards getting more proper GT race cars is getting much better than it's been months ago. We are still very far from the extremely-slow progressing Sports Car Challenge and the nicely-paced LMS mod. I think things are finally getting better. Even the rFactor mod for the 1970 World Sportscar Championship is looking great. Traditional sportscar racing is getting much better in rFactor. Next thing you know it, we will be getting to race LMPs for the first time in the game.

I've been thinking of something. You know how this is supposed to be the final few races for that Lola? Why don't someone (don't ask me- I'm no modeler) make a mod with that recent Lola in its swan song? I would just love to have some open-top sportscar racing even if you do like some SCCA formula cars that get converted to Sports Racer machines. Like imagine someone takes the rF3 cars and make them into something like C Sports Racer or D Sports Racer. I even seen a conversion kit for the Spec Mazda formula cars. I mean... I just want to do some real racing with real sportscar machinery. But I'm patient.

Of course, if you're on rfactorcentral.com, I'm "Gold_Moon." I still think we need to get an rFactor forum going on GTPlanet so we can talk a little rFactor. Any more comments on this new Panoz Esperante series for rFactor?

The Panoz Esperante series will come your way this Tuesday. So be ready to download at will. In the meanwhile, here's a small report of mine.

--- I Won my First "Main Event" Race! ---
Let me define "main event" first. I do a lot of sprint racing in rFactor. But there are times when it's about 10:00 PM. I usually come up with races on road courses which serve a bit as major races. They can range anywhere from 25 minutes to about a full hour. So I call them main events since they aren't your average sprints. The problem I've had in the past is that I've been unable to win key races that I set up. That all changed earlier tonight as I did an FIA GT race from the Autopolis circuit I downloaded. The random qualifying put me at 19th. In a race slated for 35 minutes, I took the lead sometime after Lap 1 around this perplexing Japanese circuit. (By the way, my car was the #26 Lamborghini Murciélago GT-R by Reiter Engineering.) I took the lead after lap 2... then the lead was coming back thanks to some bad driving on the track. I'd go back to about 4th. I would work my way up and get the lead again... then it coming back to the previous leader. I even spun the Lambo twice in one lap. With a determined style of driving, I would retake the lead and have help by slower NGT cars. In the end, I won my first "main event" race after blowing it several times elsewhere.

That would be all. I'll let you know if there's anything else that's juicy in the realm of rFactor.

Alright, people. Wait no more- the Panoz Esperante mod is here! Go here if you're on rfactorcentral.com:

http://www.rfactorcentral.com/series_detail.cfm?ID=Panoz Esperante

This overall mod package comes in at about 94 MB. What you get includes (according to rfactorcentral.com) four variations of the Esperante street car, the purpose-built and race-ready Esperante GTS, the Panoz Esperante GTLM that races in the ALMS and in the LMS, and the most awesome (then) GT1 car of the 1990s- the Panoz Esperante GT1. Go ahead and have yourself some fun with the Panoz Esperante family in rFactor. From Joesville Speedway (why would you take these true sports cars to a track like this?) to Lienz and every good and bad track not made by ISI, this should be a hot mod featuring these wonderful cars. You already know that I can't wait to race those Panoz Esperante GT1 models. Now if it turns out that I have to have experience and a lot of money to race the Esperante GT1, then it's going to be a while for me to race them. About as long as it took for me to finally get a Formula IS car that isn't the rFactor team. There may even be the Panoz Q9 as part of the GTR-1 package.

But the wait is over. Get your Panoz fix and hit the track. You dig?

I had the chance to download and play the Panoz Esperante mod for rFactor. You start out with 3,000 Credits and have two cars- a red base Panoz Esperante and a red Esperante GTS race car. The regular Esperante is pretty much a bare-bones roadster you can go racing in. I took my Esperante convertible around the winding roads of Lienz. It almost seemed like I was doing my own edition of "MotorWeek" or "Top Gear" with this test drive. The car handled very well. Just don't expect to win any high-speed battles with a stock Esperante. * The Esperante GTS is reminiscent of the Panoz models used at Panoz Racing School sites. There are no front lights on these machines. These Esperante GTS models are very quick and powerful. It's the perfect entry to true sportscar racing. It's why I say that these Panoz should have been part of the SR Grand Prix deal. As much as rFactor is filled to the brim with almost one of everything, I still feel a little disappointed that there were no real SPORTScar machines in the SR Grand Prix. Trick out an H6 Howston, and it still seems like you're not really getting the sort of rush like racing a Formula One race car or an Le Mans Prototype. The Esperante Mod also comes with two pure racing Esperantes. There's the GT2 variant with models from 2006 and 2007. Most people may not really like these Panoz much, but that's because you get the grand daddy- the Esperante GTR-1. And you get plenty of these GTR-1 Panoz models ranging from 1997 to the Panoz GTP models of the 21st Century. I have yet to unlock both the GT2 and GTR-1 models. But this mod is great. And if you love sportscar racing or really want something to hold you down until the Le Mans Series mod is released, then go work your way through this mod. It's a great experience.

Speaking of the LMS mod, another progress report of the LMS mod is coming soon by the EnduRacers crew. I'd sure like to see what they have going with that awesome mod. In the meanwhile, what do you think about the Panoz Esperante mod if you've downloaded this mod for rFactor?

I love the Panoz' as well John, the GTR's are brilliant to drive and I love the little rear view screen:P

I have been playing FSOne/ProF1TR 2007 mod. Great stuff!

Has individual car sounds, which sound incredible, lots of different upgrades for specfic cars. FSOne is 2006 of course but ProF1TR made a 2007 add on for the mod and it is also brilliant. Il be uploading a video to youtube later of me driving the STR on Jerez. Heres some screens meanwhile.

Let me just get to a few things.

--- Racing in the Rain ---
On rfactorcentral.com, there is a track called "Cart BC." It is a go-kart track for you to race on. I think I still have my Intercontinental A mod, so I'll likely race it when I get a chance. There is one noticable aspect of this mod- a rain version. Remember in "Sports Car GT" that there were configurations of day-dry, day-wet, night-dry, and night-wet for most tracks? Well, this is perhaps the first track I've seen which has a wet setup. The Eurokart-Sim Development Team notes that there may be FPS issues involved with doing this wet race. Some people even claim that there will be an "rFactor 2" that will provide weather effects. But for now, this is your best chance to have some wet racing. Best preferable automobiles for this track are go-karts. I haven't yet added this course to my growing track list.

Follow this link for more information and to download the mod (must be registered): < http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Cart BC >

--- First Notice of Changable Skins ---
I noticed something when I raced with the Formula Nippon 2005 mod (NIPPON Racing on rfactorcentral.com). I don't know what exact car I use, but it's the #11 car. This machine has kind of a bluish-silver color with mostly blue accents and some white accents accompanied with some Swiss flag designs at the front and sides of the car. Anyhow, I clicked on the "Skins" tab when choosing a vehicle. At will, I could change between test car colors to my championship paintscheme setup. I have no idea how to come up with such unique skins for cars, but it's the first time I've actually seen multiple skins available to use. Imagine that you could come up with a different paintscheme style for your car entry. For example, I usually say my "team colors" are two shades of blue and a pure gold color. My alternative colors would be two shades of red and a pure gold color. Think of it as your favorite sporting team wearing different-colored outfits.

--- More on Formula Nippon ---
You know how I say that the steering is too heavy on the FN2006 machines? Well believe it or not, you could actually purchase upgrades for the Formula Nippon 2005 cars that gives you medium and heavy steering. I didn't really noticed the difference when I tested FN cars around Adria and the Texas Motor Speedway oval. I think it was tougher to manuver the car when you don't have the steering on light. Why would you want heavier steering? My best guess is for higher-speed courses. Take stock cars and Indy Cars for example. The steering is heavier since they mostly run oval courses. Perhaps too much steering input would take away high speeds. You usually can't take a road racing car to do ovals. So to likely prevent losing a lot of speed, you would go for heavier steering with these cars. By the way, I logged a time of about 1:12.000 around Adria with the Formula Nippon machines. Those Formula Nippon machines are crazy fast.

--- Positive Progress with Radical Mod ---
I swear the final release date draws closer with each new picture of the Radical Extreme Sports Cars mod. The latest picture shows this Coors Light-sponsored car colored in dark silver with gray accents. The development team behind this mod claims to have used over seven different Radical models ranging from the 185hp Clubsport 2005 all the way to the 363hp 2006 SR8. I think this will do until we get some real open-top prototype racing. There is a YouTube video showing a one-lap match race against two blue and white Radicals at Imola. Get a feel for how they sound as well as how they handle the San Marino circuit.

So what are the mods I'm watching on rfactorcentral.com? Here they are:
* FedEx CART World Series 1998
* FIA GT3 2006
* JGTC All-Stars
* LMS (Le Mans Series)
* MINI Challenge 2006 UK
* NAGT (think Speed World Challenge's GT series)
* Proximus 24 Hours of Spa 2006 (poor progress)
* Radical Extreme Sports Cars
* RFR: 20 Years of Rally
* Sports Car Challenge (very poor progress)

That's all from me. Haven't done one of these in a while.

Not particularly tidy laps but still.

John, theres a few mods I know of with multiple skins, FSOne has tobacco and non tobacco variations of cars as does CTDP F1, the Megane trophy has some variations as well.

How could you have missed the Prototype-C + Le Mans 1977-1985 track, from the Virtua-LM crew? ;) ;)

www.prosimracing.com, birmingham 125 with $500 worth of cash for a prize.

Panoz GT2 is the mod they are using.

Anybody from here competiting in that event?
If you are let me know.

Dion Holzheimer is my name and i will be there :D.

Not anything to report or talk about for rFactor, but just that my school semester is over. I won't have the luxury of broadband to download stuff right away. Back home to dial-up. It also means more time for me to get to enjoy rFactor more.

A few things I'm still awaiting includ more info on the Radical and LMS mods. I even want to know who will try to take over developing and designing the Sports Car Challenge mod for rFactor that's been heavily delayed with terrible progress. Also wanting to see some more updates for the "RFR: 20 Years of Rally" mod and more. There's some great progress with the CART 1998 mod. I hope this will be a great Summer for rFactor. In addition, I may drop my WIP Watch on the Proximus 24 Hours of Spa and replace it with a brand-new super truck racing mod in the works. Let me remind you what trucks I'm talking about. I'm not talking about the tubeframed whatchamacallits that do ovals all day. I'm talking about those big rig trucks as seen here: < http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Trucks Series Racing >.

Have a great day.

Hello there! I had a chance to install that British Columbia kart track for rFactor. To test the physics in dry and wet conditions, I wanted to use something different. So I ended up using the Nissan 350Z from the FIA GT mod. My dry run was just fine. I don't know was my best hot lap was around the karting track. My best one-lap pass in the wet was about a 1:36. I even attempted to have a match race against another 350Z. What ended up happening was that the other guy made only one corner... then continually spun out in the grass. I won the race. Thing is, I had to put Traction Control on High. Go ahead and say that I'm being an rFactor wuss for not disabling Traction Control, but it's a real b*tch keeping the car on the track on a wet surface. I've done better in Sports Car GT (with no TCS options in the game) in the wet than with this rFactor track. I think if wet courses are going to be possible in rFactor, then they'll have to be much better for a variety of cars in the game.

Let me just stop there and focus in on the wet course itself. The wet course lessens the FPS, but only a smidgeon. The track was designed in a great way so that you could actually see the vapor trails as you go around a wet race track. When I veered off the track and into some of the tire walls, I actually noted some water being kicked up as I smashed the tire walls. I think this race track for rFactor is a great step forward in potentially wet courses. The physics will need to improve so that it isn't totally unfair to race on a wet course. No actual rain falls from the sky when you race the Wet course. So it's more like when you race in Sports Car GT because I can never recall actual falling rain in SCGT. Some people in the rFactor community tried to devise falling rain in races. I think this may get better as more and more developers try to come up with the best possible rain and wet physics. The chances of windshield wipers and stuff being used may have to wait until an rFactor sequel comes along.

But that's just me.

For the first time, one of my WIP Watch mods is finally done. The Truck Series Racing mod on rfactorcentral.com is available for download. It's supertruck racing at its finest. I haven't downloaded it yet. I'm actually not downloading any mod for rFactor since it would take forever to download some of the really good mods on my dialup. Check this baby out: < http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Trucks Series Racing >. Why race a bunch of NASCAR fake trucks when you can race some real bad trucks with this mod?

Next on the menu is the Le Mans Series mod. However, one car is going to one day be available for rFactor fans if this mod is released. It's dubbed as the Audi R10 TDI mod. This sophisticated LMP race car will have to put up a big fight against Peugeot in the 2007 24 Hours of Le Mans. This was for the Le Mans Series mod, but check out this link: < http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Audi R10 TDI >. The mod creator, Racing Line Developments, said to have first designed the car for a mod that didn't really was finished last year. RLD claimed he wasn't going to leave this rotting on the hard drive. So it's possible rFactor may see its first bit of prototype racing. I'd like to imagine what kind of paintschemes will be available for this car come release.

Final tidbit I'd like to get across is that the LMS mod had some very old pictures for maybe a few months. Now, some of the older pictures are gone and replaced with some new pictures. No prototype pictures from what I've seen so far. See for yourself these new pictures: < http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=LMS >.

That's all from me. Take care and God bless. One other note is that the 2007 Formula Nippon series is in the works for rFactor. Let's hope the steering isn't heavy like the FN2006 mod.

FSone 2006 1.1 is not bad for rfactor, although, if you have GP4 stick with it, this mod is a conversion from GP4 and the GP4 version is better imo.

BMW M3 E46 + Realfeel plugin + insert good track here = Fun!

Looks pretty cool, im sure simbin will be chuffed:P

Its probably bettter in rfactor anyway...better tracks.

how does the handling compare to race? i havent played RACE in ages... but this car feels very grippy and predictable, I am running with no aids on, but i think i will turn on some ABS since the real cars have it iirc. also because i just locked up my tires and crashed on the nurburgring with the bmw :P

Check this out: http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=DTM 2007

To my knowledge, this is the first released DTM mod for rFactor. The Deutche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft is ready for you to take on the world. You already have one German course for rFactor with the Nürburgring F1 course. You could even try taking these cars around Lienz. DTM in the house!

i heard this mod was lame, so i've been slow to download it. :P plus a LFS league i am in is starting, so I'm preparing for a race on a track I'm unfamiliar with.
