I never said it was definitely just a demo, just that the chances of it being the demo are higher than it being the full game. If you don't already have RFactor, then it's well worth a go either way.

Does anyone where to get all the extra cars and track on rFactor? I see videos on youtube about rFactor that have Mitsubishi Evo IIIV and tracks such as Suzuka and so on... Is it a download only or do i have to buy those extras?

I downloaded a bunch of stuff for rFactor. Got the Sports Car Challenge mod as well as the Le Mans Series Limited Edition mods. Even got Mini Challenge as well as some tracks. I have a lot of catching up to do. I'll offer my opinions on the mods in question when I get a chance to play the mods long enough.

I have but a few quick updates on some of the mods I've installed.

* The Sports Car Challenege ended up being as fun as I thought it would be. I'm not sure if the sounds are accurate, but some cars have amazing engine roars. Among them are the D. Barbour LMP675 entry and the Panoz LMP Roadster. My joystick seems a bit twitchy trying to race these cars. I closed the game and re-ran the game. They are still twitchy at times, but still quite enjoyable to race. I been laying down some passes between 1:31 and 1:35 around Surfer's Paradise in the Panoz LMP Roadster. If the crew can enhance the driving dynamics even further, the Sports Car Challenge will be a true knockout.

* I found out this LMS Limited Edition mod is simply an "LMS: Prologue" (if you will). You only get the Audi R8 and the Lola B2K-10 in a few different team liveries. I raced the Audi R8 (I'm using the Team Goh Audi R8) around the Daytona Road Course. The control behind the wheel at full speed is amazing. Just precise handling without any twitchy motions. Worth the download, even if you only get two prototypes.

And that's all. More from me when I get a chance to play some of the other mods I downloaded.

You and me both, I need to reinstall RFactor again, I had to buy a new hard drive a eweek or so ago after all the trouble of the re-format, so I lost everything agin.

I ran Mini Challenge around the Hitchin street course. I did a one-lap pass around this track at around 1:04 in a standard Mini, then a 56-second run in a Mini Cooper S. You don't really get a sense of pure handling prowess with these front-drive Minis. You do get to slide them around corners for a little bit. They take a little driving skill to master. I could find one of them that I know I'll love among the Minis. My favorite one is the blue and gold #25 Mini Cooper S. My personal driver number is #25, I love blue with gold accents... this car fits me quite well.

The Mini Challenge 2006 UK mod can be found here: http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=MINI Challenge 2006 UK

You can even modify your Mini to have certain seats and such. A real chance to modify this reborn classic in rFactor.

As a small topic... why is it that smaller cars and racing machines slow down more in the main menu than larger cars? Never realized why this is. Or at least for my computer.

I'm going to reinstall it too. The main reason why I bought rFactor was because of TCL, and I haven't touched the game in months, so it's horribly out of date. I want to start a fresh install and turn the game into TCL and nothing else, anyway.

I recently downloaded a mod of some of the most wicked racing machines there are. They are powerful. They have a lot of torque. They sound pretty cool at speed. They can only be...

--- Truck Series Mod ---
What? Were you expecting F1 cars? Notice how I didn't mention speed. Anyways, I have a few trucks in this mod I'm using. The Mack trucks are very much like the ToCA Race Driver 3 machines. Speaking of which, it's funny these big monsters are in the Touring discipline. It is quite accurate since these trucks don't go very fast and usually tackle road courses. Those of you used to racing "stock" cars would probably be used to racing these machines. They get up to speed pretty well. The real problem is in trying to stop them as well as trying to accelerate out of corners. These super trucks have a lot of torque and power. It can be tough trying to manuver these around road course. They are best suited towards longer courses with smooth corners. They take some getting used to. You have the trucks limited to 160 kilometers an hour (don't ask me how many mph) and those in the unlimited class. Try practicing these trucks around courses like Mills Metropark, Sebring, and a few other courses. I even used these around Joesville Speedway. It's possible to even use these around some courses that aren't overly technical. The sounds to these trucks are pretty good. They are absolute beasts. Download this mod off of rfactorcentral.com.

And I'll be back to share any other rFactor finds.

what do you guys think of the corvette c6 2.0?

Nurburgring Nord. 2.0 released !!
http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Nordschleife 2007

As a small note, the Lienz track made the Hall of Fame on rfactorcentral.com. There's also the 2.0 version of one of the Nürburgring Nordschleife by one group.

Racesimcentral.com has some sort of old mod where you race pocket bikes. Here is the thread on motorcycle possibilities in general < http://forum.racesimcentral.com/showthread.php?t=265574 >, and the link to the pocket bike mod deal: < http://forum.racesimcentral.com/showthread.php?t=265574&page=11 >. You may remember in SCGT that there was a guy named Carol Cray that made motorcycles possible. I remember on (this bulls:censored:message board that thankfully closed down) that I offered a suggestion to make the bikes work better. The SCGT models had to be converted to front-wheel drive to remain functional at speed and in cornering.

Motorcycle racing in rFactor. It's possible... or is it? Debate at will, inspired minds.

Here is something I'd like to share now...

--- 2006 Champ Car World Series ---
iDT Simulations came up with this mod. And let me tell you. This mod is absolutely amazing! Beautiful modeling of the cars along with some beautiful handling and responsiveness. I've ran these around Long Beach, Orchard Park (both courses), and Mills Metropark (sprint course - normal). It has Hall of Fame status on rfactorcentral.com and for great reason. The 297MB file features 2005 and 2006 cars. The car sounds are more like the older Champ Car sounds. Today's Champ Cars sound about the same, only with a higher pitch. The sounds are still amazing. Did I mention that the cars are amazingly responsive? They respond beautifully in corners. Most people I've known shown some sort of correlation between Champ Car and F1. However, some would probably argue that there's more passing in Champ Car than F1. This is a high-quality mod that's worth the download. Take her for a spin.

--- Pocketbike Mod ---
It was a beta on racesimcentral.com's message boards, but it was a chance to see the potential for superbikes in rFactor. Image Space doesn't really have support for motorcycles. So at this point, motorcycle racing isn't possible. However, it COULD be possible for ATVs to be used based on ToCA Race Driver 3's Honda ATV races. But on to the Pocketbike Mod. The Beta for this deal features a few pocketbikes modeled more like MotoGP bikes. There is no "in-bike view" or stabilty while riding. My test track for pocketbike racing was a wonderful track in the United Kingdom called Caldwell Park. All the twitching from the Chase Cam is almost unbearable. And at times, you'll go off the track. It's still some hope that motorcycle racing for rFactor. I normally like cars, but I do like a good motorcycle race. My dream bike would either be a Ducati 999R or the Suzuki GSXR 1300 (capable of 220 mph in Tourist Trophy). Find links for the BETA Pocketbike mod from my previous post.

I'm going to install the TV-style display after I've sadly gotten rid of my Spotter Plugin. I'll even try out a few more tracks and cars. Thanks for reading.

Hey, i just downloaded a few mods (actually a lot....) even the D1 mods. I just got to say, they are great! Its so wonderful and amazingly realistic compared to Racer. The Nordsleife and PCC pack is great as well. But the best part of all is that you could make your own liveries (which is a nice touch ;)) and i'm just learning how to design cars and helmets. Here is what i'm currently doing, hope you don't mind...

petronascliota2.jpg

But one question though, is there any other helmet templates other than Wardog's rFactor helmet templates? And is there any way that i could see the helmets in VehVwr? (or some similar software) I'm having a hard time doing my helmet (as you can see from my avie)

Sorry for the double posting....

I'm done with the Clio livery,so check it out here:

Now i'm on a new project. I'm currently doing Nobushige Kumakubo's Evo IX

Now i have a few problems with some of the decals. Does anybody knows where can i get a bigger version of this logo?

I have been searching everywhere for this, but to no avail.... :guilty:

Here are a few highlights of mine, all involving the Historic Rally Cars Mod.

* downloaded and installed update
I think I had already installed the HRC update, so this was a no-show.

* downloaded the Pikes Peak package
Let me tell you. I spent more time crashing and going off Pikes Peak in this rFactor mod than racing it. It got to be unbearable so that I picked the Alpine A110 to go up the mountain. The Historic Rally Car mod is my favorite classic car mod. I'm probably waiting for some kind of rFactor mod with lots of F1 cars reminiscent of the 1967 F1 cars like in "Grand Prix Legends" ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Prix_Legends ). It's a game that I've never played the full version to, but surely one of the greatly loved racing games among racing game afficionados. I know there's a very successful mod featuring cars from the 1979 F1 season, but I'm talking about some of the cars like from the Wikipedia link I provided. These cars are tough to drive, but they've been some of my favorite F1 cars. It's also why I like racing the Terrazi Starlight/Starlite in Ridge Racer Type 4 because of its old school F1 design. Didn't ToCA Race Driver 3 feature the Lotus 49?

Other things I've done included installing the Denver street course as well as the Indianapolis pack that includes the two oval races as well as the USGP at Indy. Other than that, rFactor still gets better with modding. I'm still trying to look for a good mod for rally racing as well, because the HRC is a bit too tough to rally with some of these vintage cars.

If you have a lot of patience, you could upscale that image and trace over it yourself.

Here is a place you can visit for the FIA GT mod for rFactor converted from GTR: < http://www.skro.de/ >. I'm sure you'll find both FIA GT and WTCC. Just look for the FIA GT mod somewhere in the downloads portion. The FIA GT mod is pretty controversial online because SimBin disallows anyone taking their material and converting it to other platforms. I have a guilty conscience of providing this link.

Believe it or not, I haven't used the FIA GT mod a lot anymore since the Sports Car Challenge was finally brought out. I basically wanted a quality sportscar racing mod to tide me over until the SCC was completed. I'm awaiting to see some of the 2002 cars being converted and made available for the Sports Car Challenge mod. Something I COULD do is take some of the cars from the FIA GT championship mod and use them to kind of substitute for some of the GT and GTS racing cars. Or maybe I just want to race against a Ferrari 360 Modena GT race car. ^_^ The car I've particularly used was the Reiter Engineering Lamborghini Murcielago GT-R. This Lambo makes some sweet engine noise and is scary fast. I liked it in GTR, and you'll probably like it in this rFactor conversion.

I'm still looking around online to see if someone made an rFactor mod featuring 1960s F1 cars like in "Grand Prix Legends." The more classic F1 cars for rFactor at present are the 1979 F1 cars. From the site I provided earlier in this post, someone named "SlimJim" made a Classic F1 mod for rFactor based on the 1967 F1 cars. No quality mods are present at this moment. The JGTC All Stars thread is basically dead. However, the Champ Car 1998 and Radical mods still aren't surprisingly done. The 2006 Champ Car mod is incredible. Just too bad I can't play more than six cars without slowdowns.

Thnx for the link John. +rep:tup: I was waiting a long time for the JGTC mod but i guess that there arent motivated anymore:(. Is it possible to give it to another group?

It's possible, but that's entirely upto the people who've created what they have so far.

Hellooo.

Newb questions for system requirements and how rFactor might perform on my system.

I run a Dell Dimension 8300 3GhzMT, few years old now. 512Mb RAM (the minimum, I understand) and a Radeon 9800 XT.

How would you think rFactor would run on it - reasonably well? Would a big wodge of RAM help my cause? (coz the rest ain't getting updated anytime soon.)

I have to know because I saw that Neils guy drifting the C6 on normal tyres, and his ring trip, and it looks like a hoot.

Ta in advance.

The JGTC mod ( http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=JGTC All Stars ) would further enhance a Japanese focus on rFactor. It's possible someone will likely work on the JGTC mod if someone revived the Sports Car Challenge. If you want great Japanese racing other than the JGTC, then race those Formula Nippon cars. The Formula Nippon cars are VERY fast and sound great as well. Trust me. Download Formula Nippon on rfactorcentral.com ("Nippon Racing" recommended- the FN2006 mod has heavy steering and not real fun if you aren't a good racer).

I'll now just post some random links from rfactorcentral.com. Here are some WIP material:

GZ Street_GP: http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=GZ Street_GP
Rotax RMAX (actually just MAX) Challenge: http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Rotax RMAX Challenge
Arizona Motorsports Park: http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Arizona Motorsports Park

Have a gigabyte to spare? Think the FIA GT mod is large? Check this one out: < http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=VHR-Stockcar >. At about 790 megabytes, this stock race racing mod can be yours. Reason why it's so massive is because it includes all Nextel Cup tracks as well as the Car of Tomorrow bodies. I would have prefered just the Car of Tomorrow. Same reason why I wanted just Bathurst and not the V8 Supercars + Bathurst (not saying the V8 mod is bad. It's impressive). It's safe to say that broadband (and patience) are recommended for this one.

Small question, do you guys race online together often? on rFactor?

I've been thinking of buying it for a while but never really did. It'd be interesting to race online with it tho.

I mentioned that mod in a past post. Here's my thing. I'd have just the Car of Tomorrow and not the entire NASCAR mod itself. This mod is about 200MB more than the controversial FIA GT mod. Now on to something else. My rFactor off-road racing Renaissance has taken me to an older mod.

--- Dune Buggies Mod ---
The Dune Buggies Mod features an ATV, a Volkswagen Beetle, and a buggy. I only raced the buggy and the VW. The V-Dub is actually quite agile. I've always found satisfaction in racing buggies. However, both the VW and the buggy are great machines. I even took the buggy around tracks like Moto Off-Road and Mountain Sprint (Autumn course). The buggies are like F1 cars with big ass tires with only chassis surrounding you. They handle quite well on and off road. On road, the buggy doesn't slip and slide unexpectedly just because the machine isn't off-road. I was able to handle the buggy around the rough confines of Mountain Sprint. I even tried braking early in sections where I fear I could be riding the wall and eventually whack a trap part of the railing. It also gets up to speed quite well. I can do about 130 on dry tarmac. I haev yet to race the ATV.

I'm going to edit one of my MAS files and edit the ugly generic orange racer outfits with a different color. My team colors are blue and gold. So I'm going with blue. Or I may try to go with red colors (my alternative color). Regardless, I'm still exercising my "Customize" aspect of "Control. Customize. Connect."
