I know I promised to talk about my OzRacers experience, but I want to go to something different.
--- John's VHR Stockcar Experience ---
So I was convinced to download the 700+ MB VHR Stockcar mod. I downloded from another site since it's been pulled from rfactorcentral.com. I took a look at this mod and noticed the amazing sounds of the cars. Trouble is, you're basically downloading soemone else's rFactor and settings from that. I tried the mod out and never got to race the other tracks I have. I just wanted to drive those CoT stock cars. It's basically a package fully devoted to NASCAR rather than an rFactor mod you can simply come back to. To tell you the truth, it wasn't as fulfilling as I would have liked it.
I don't really like mods in which you can't really go race your favorite rFactor tracks with a certain car. Take the V8 Factor deal. You have to download Bathurst bundled with V8 Supercars. What if you just wanted to race Bathurst then? Had to get the V8 package to go with it. I have nothing against the V8 Supercars at all. I love watching them race. I just still want to be able to take the cars and race a variety of other courses rather than just what's supplied to me. It's why I've loved most racing games where you can simply get a good car and race any track you want. Like the Gran Turismo series, the Forza series, the PGR series, and the like. Not a good mod if you want to do Joesville or Mills Metropark.
On a lighter note, only thing I did take from the mod was the daytime sky. I usually like a nice and sunny (or even mostly sunny) day for my races. But the skydome had a nice sunny day with clouds. And as of right now, I'm still using a few skies from one of the GTR tracks.

The scale of the cars was pretty cartoonish and not really of interest to me when I saw this. I was finally convinced to try this mod out. These may be the most fun small cars with about 200 horsepower. I tried these cars around some of my shorter tracks. They are a bit too fast for kart tracks, so I used some of my shorter courses. I even ran around the Joesville short oval with these cars. I had a tough time winning races because I would probably get punted or spin out severely. I had always dreamed of racing small-scale cars whether in real life or in a game. They don't have functional lights, but are quite fun to race. Great stuff. Only race I won with these cars was on the Chinese Grand Prix's (Jiading) super-short circuit. After unintentionally punting two guys off the track in the super-tight and twisty proportions of this course, I eventually won. I could race as many as twenty to a track in events I competed in. So not a bad mod. It's about 20 to 25 MB in size.

I downloaded the Gasoline Alley mod, and will download the 1955 F1 mod. Congratulations to the 1955 F1 mod for winning Hall of Fame honors on rfactorcentral.com. These should be two great old school racing mods. I'm sure both can be tough to control with aids off. Since I'm not very good at games with hardcore physics capabilities, I'll go light on this one.
That would be all from me. You take care now, ya' hear? Ahem... pardon my Texan.
