Well, it's not that then.

Only thing left is the DDS file not being saved at the best quality, but I can't remember what save options give it the best quality.

I reckon its a settings issue, because EVERY car I have barring the Aston for WES is affected. Including EnduSeries cars.

Just like to ask a question as what would be the best track for testing cars (hot lapping) and the best track for top speed testing? I would prefer it if the track was available on drivingitalia, nogripracing or rfactorcentral.

I just use default Brianza.

Is that the Monza replica? I'd prefer to use either a real track or a completely fictional one
OldRing Park v1.8. Best fictional race track.
I'll give it a try.

Also, while not directly related to rFactor, I will be streaming GTR2 in about 5 minutes on my Twitch stream, just click the link in my sig if you want to see it.

Edit: Stream not working, going to be streaming The Crew instead.

Yes Monza replica.

Ah, I knew there was another.

Then, if you're able to get them/get them to work, there's Fort Worth Speedway (Texas), Alabama Superspeedway (Talladega), and Concord Speedway (Charlotte).

Yeah, after a while Alabama just crashed If I tried to race on it

Concord and Alabama did the same for me. Made it halfway around and the game would crash. Haven't been able to figure out why it won't work. Never put Fort Worth into the game, but it's on my desktop.

On the topic of test tracks, I usually use (among original rFactor courses) Orchard Park's road course as my test course. Its combination of being a rather technical course along with the speedway oval is a good overall test of handling and high speed. It gives me sort of a baseline and an idea of what a car is capable of.

Now for some random rFactor musings...

* When I took my first ever laps around EuroRing, part of me wants to imagine this course being one long drift stage. A lot of the sudden corners seems to really favor those who love drifting. Part of my experience on EuroRing includes using the rTrainer car and even the ALMS Panoz Esperante ALMS GT race car. This track is very competitive. I can easily see this to be a great course to race with low-level GT cars and some touring cars. It may even be good for vintage racing.

* The Panoz Esperante GT1 is one of my all-time favorite race cars, but the way it's set up in rFactor is almost like it has ice tires. It sounds great at speed in the game. I may need to consider a balanced setup so that it doesn't feel like it is driving on ice.

* If I design skins for cars, I may use a two-stage setup with Adobe Photoshop Elements 13 that I bought last weekend for PSD editing, then use Paint.NET for DDS conversion. It's a two-stage approach unless I am somehow able to get PSE13 to load and save DDS files. I already have a plugin for Paint.NET that allows for loading/saving of DDS files.

Other than that, it's good to be back playing rFactor.

Funny enough, that's the setup I use when I paint cars for rFactor.

Speaking of which, have you painted anything or you just messing around with it at the moment?

Uh... more along messing around at the moment. I haven't even picked out any template. Funny enough, after I posted my latest comment, I found this DDS Converter which supposedly can be used to convert most of the basic image types to DDS. Since I'm using Photoshop, that means I can convert PSD images to DDS.

I recently installed whatever the latest EnduRacers Endurance Series mod is and applied the SP2.1 patch to it. I haven't yet used this mod, but I did remember I had an older version of the EnduRacers Endurance Series mod from my previous rFactor experience. I know I can download templates if I wanted to design my own car skins for this mod. So after some time, I'll look around and maybe see if there's a car that interests me that I would probably make car skins for.

One last thing I want to note... with my newer PC, I am now playing rFactor in a window. It used to be full screen play back on my old XP computer. This in itself is a different experience. No drop in performance or anything. Or maybe I'm using DX7 settings. Really, I am not sure which DirectX settings I'm using to be honest.

That's all from me. I will also port over some of my other past car mods I still have. I then will bring over a lot of the locations (tracks) that I liked and will maybe look for new ones.

My most recent rFactor experience mostly involved testing out the various cars from the current batch of GT cars from the latest EnduRacers Endurance Series mod. Tell you what... I loved racing the GT Porsches. They just seemed fun to drive for the most part. Even a Ferrari-loving guy like me couldn't help but smile at the mostly easy driving of the Porsches. The Ferraris were great to race also. Being a Texan and a Houstonian, I of course was rocking Risi Competizione. I also liked racing the Spyker. It was nimble and was pretty fast. I pulled a fairly decent lap in the range of 1:24.000 around Orchard Lake Road Course- which I said was my test course. Up next for me were the GT1 level cars. I had no real favorites from the GT1 cars offered, but I sort of liked the Aston Martins the most. I sort of liked the Saleens. The only prototype I raced with the mod was the LMP Challenge Oreca. I mostly used the Level 5 Motorsports Oreca from 2010(?) with the Microsoft Office 2010 livery. I liked the power delivery and the handling. Having a Corvette V8 mounted midship doesn't hurt either. I actually enjoyed hearing that baby sing at speed.

Next time I run rFactor, I'll take on more of the prototypes in the mod besides the LMPC Oreca. The Audi R10 and the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP are both the motorsports definitions of silent assassins. I remember watching on (then) Speed Channel when the R10 was at Petit Le Mans. They tried to get a microphone as close as possible to record the Audi R10's sound coming out of a corner. You would hear more wind noise than that car engine noise. That same scary and surreal experience is with the EnduRacers version of both the Audi R10 TDI and the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP. The Peugeot is louder than the Audi, but not by too much.

This is really the best GT/Sportscar/Endurance mod for rFactor. I say that mostly since I used to race the Sports Car Challenge mod a lot, basically a port of the same mod from the classic EA Sports F1 games. I usually liked that SCC since that mod wasn't as taxing graphically. I even remembered when I tried playing around with the Serie International Du Mans mod, but sort of struggled trying to keep those things on the road and pointed in the correct direction. And I also think I remembered trying almost everything to get the Porsche RS Spyder working in that one. It may be a massive download and may take up a good amount of space, but the EnduRacers Endurance Series mod is worth it if you're a GT/Sportscar/Endurance racing fan and if you love more modern sportscar racing machines. Previously back in... say 2007 or 2008 or so, there were very few options for which to enjoy this category of motorsport in rFactor. Thank goodness over time that more proper mods featuring GT cars and prototypes surfaced to bring this category into a solid game like rFactor.

It may seem like I babble a lot, but I think there's just a lot to appreciate in rFactor being almost ten years old yet still is the finest motorsports simulation on the market, if not one of the finest simulators. This is all my level of appreciation and emotion that I try to evoke into my posts. By the way... here's a better link from VirtualR regarding the presentation of EnduRacers SP3 material: http://www.virtualr.net/endurance-series-sp3-live-presentation-tomorrow. You're welcome.

The prototypes were a blast to drive. The ones I tend to enjoy most from the EnduRacers pack was the Acura LMPs, the Porsche RS Spyder Evo, and some of the Creation cars. Both the Audi R10 TDI and the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP were as insane as I had thought previously. The most difficult prototype to drive was the Epsilon. By using Orchard Lake Road Course, I was able to log lap times in the 73-second range. I enjoyed listening to the Acuras sing at speed. I always liked that engine sound, kind of like a motorcycle engine.

So by now, I tried out just about all of the different cars in the EnduRacers Endurance Series SP2 pack. This is an awesome mod.

So I now have the WTCC Extreme mods - both of them. There are a load of cars in the mod however without skins / templates yet they are just there as blank white versions... so anyone know of car sets? Especially for the Ford Focus and Honda Accord R.

Have you tried NoGripRacing or RaceDepartment?

Anyway, I've downloaded a couple of Reiza Studios mods, but they're giving me gMotor2 errors. The cars of the Formula V12 won't even show up, and TBH the frame rate for the Formula Classic cars (which seem indistinguishable from Formula Armaroli) is relatively crap compared to my other mods.

I have problems with EXE mods, they never install right. Rar mods are fine though. Anyone know why? I really want to use CTDP F1 05-06 and the Enduracers mod but they never work

Install them to a folder that isn't rFactor, then move the content to your rFactor folder and make sure if gets put in the proper locations.

In response to my original post - found how to add the original GTR2 skins to RF.
