rFactor

All I ever have changed was the car files so I'm not sure why its now acting like this. Up to this point, it was fine.

I've tried five different rfm files (even tried the original, default rfm file) and it still keeps doing it. I have no idea why only now it won't load without windowed mode.

I'd suggest moving the car files out to the desktop of those you had adjusted, then moving them in one at a time until the game breaks again. Should single out the issue, even if it takes some time to get back to it.

I'm getting a similar problem, after my laptop got a blue screen last night I couldn't get rFactor to start up, either from my Steam Library or from the desktop shortcut.

Just tried it and it keeps doing it. Even more frustraiting is that this is happening on my HP all the while, I did the same sort of add-on changes (mainly as a troubleshooting test) on my much older ACER and it boots up without Windowed mode just fine.

Just annoyed now. What makes windowed mode terrible for me is that the frame rate takes a major hit and its no longer the nice 60 FPS it usually is without it. It also sometimes freezes, as it did several times while I was driving the Ligier.

Decided to download the Corvette C6, NSX and Supra mods. The ZR1 is such a handful! I think I'll stick with Z06 for now! Tried rallying in the NSX Type R, did not end well.

Go into your Userdata and find your .plr file. Changing the currently active mod (.rfm) might fix it if there's an issue with it loading.

I just tried that, it turns out that my active mod was something that I'd deleted.

EnduRacers SP3.1 is coming very soon. Highlights include the Maserati MC12 and an official Lola Aston Martin apparently.

Looking forward to this, supposedly its the last update to RF1 before they completely focus on RF2

MC12!? I love driving my GT1 MC12 on Race 07, cant wait to see how it turns out on rFactor!

And just when I thought things couldn't get more strange, I boot up the game without windowed mode and..it works :odd:

If this is what its like to have a insane Girlfriend, I think I'd prefer just to live alone.

Well it looks like F1 1990 is totally temperamental. I get it to work once before I made LODMultiplier adjustments (albeit jumping from 10-40fps) and then, once I made the adjustments, it completely locks up after 2-4 minutes of seemingly normal running. :irked:

For the first time that I can remember after a long hiatus, I am BACK on the rFactor circuit! I finally was able to successfully install on my current Windows 8 PC. I am still mostly in the process of getting settled in first before going ahead and downloading extra stuff. Now I still have my CD of rFactor that I bought back in 2006. So the version I have is Version 1.150. I know I'll need to upgrade to a much later version. Even with my wicked fast WiFi Internet connection, rFactor doesn't recognize that I am connected online. I am seeking some sort of workaround to get full-on rFactor going.

Most of the stuff I have from my old rFactor material remains on my old 320GB external drive. I will mostly just install my tracks first before thinking about putting on the various vehicle mods I have. I am even looking for a control scheme I'm comfortable with going from my old game pad to my current XBOX 360 controller. I do have my Driving Force Pro, but I'm old-school and old-fashioned. But once again- I'm back on the rFactor circuit. Just trying to settle in.

Maybe this will work? http://imagespaceinc.com/downloads/rFactor1255F-SD-Update.zip

I am now just trying to unlock rFactor. The link provided was for V1.255F. I actually had to go to rFactor's website to find an alternate link for the V 1.255F update. But recently, I downloaded the V 1.255G download. So right now is about just trying to unlock rFactor on my current PC so I can play it again. I even tried to play the rFactor stored on my external drive, but it would display the same version of rFactor here on my main PC. Getting there...

I know its possible but unsure how... I'm trying to get headlights working or looking like they are on during the daytime. They are always on with the ORECA 03 Enduseries add-on, but I don't know how with the other cars.

I am pleased to report that I was able to finally unlock rFactor earlier today on my current PC. I went to rFactor's website and asked to get my product key back since I purchased rFactor back in 2006. I used the new key to unlock my copy of rFactor.

Since I downloaded the Version 1.255G edition of rFactor, I noticed a whole lot more content including new tracks. Among others, I noted some new courses such as Fort Worth Speedway (which is more than likely Texas Motor Speedway, or RACECAR Country) and the Euro Ring I've heard a lot of about in the earlier days of rFactor. I didn't play rFactor after I unlocked it. I just looked at a lot of the content offered from the 1.255G version and exited the program.

Safe to say I'm back on the rFactor circuit and couldn't be happier to do so on a more capable computer than my previous one.

For some reason if I race with my Corvettes or NSX (In a race weekend) my game just crashes

So, is there anything out there that can make rFactor on my Computer look less like this:

and more like this:

Is there like some sort of mod or something?

GFX card?

I want to know how to get rid of ultra blurry textures I never had on my old installs. Tried all levels of filtering on DX9, different texture details, vehicle details... still not doing anything...

There are add-ons that might improve visuals. I've never tried any except for some minor texture upgrades because I've never had a powerful computer.

I've got an HP laptop and whilst I get "ARGH OMG DOWN TO 10FPS" moments with any track that has a hairpin for T1 plus 30+ cars on track, I can generally maintain 90 solo and 40 in a group of cars... but so blurry...

I remember NR2003 had a graphic setting for altering allocation of memory to textures, wondering if RF has anything similar.

EDIT: In-game:

DDS - perfectly sharp.

That is odd. Might be some issues with files then. Might be worth checking the Aston's .gen file compared to the other's to see if there are any numbers that are off.

Well, it's not that then.

Only thing left is the DDS file not being saved at the best quality, but I can't remember what save options give it the best quality.
