I downloaded the World Sportscar 1970 Mod tonight: http://www.virtualr.net/world-sportscar-1970-10-released/
You get cars like the Porsche 917, Ferrari 512 S, and 312 along with the GT40 and Porsche 911. Man, these cars sound great. They can be pretty tough to handle though. I thought they would corner/change direction a little better than they do but still, they are loads of fun just to cruise around in.

This mod was released back in June I think. I also had to download the MAS patch file and add it to the installation, so be ready in case you have to as well. Here are some pics:

They don't look that good on my PC :indiff: but then again I've got a weak video card and I've only got a VGA output going to my monitor (720p Vizio 26" LCD TV). But the cockpits still look great even on my rig.

EDIT: Well, I can't get a new video card right now, but I did change the monitor. I switched to the HP w1907 monitor that came with my desktop and wow, made a big difference in picture quality. It has a DVI output, and I went from a 2 or 3 on the graphics scale up to about a 5 or 6 out of 10. Big improvement 👍 But now I've got the 19" monitor sitting in front of the 26" TV on my desk, so it's kind of cluttered, but worth it.

Is there a mirror anywhere? Megaupload isn't working for me :indiff:

Give these a try and see if they work 👍

Surely one of these is still working *fingers crossed*

Yeah, I think this is a great mod. I'm loving it. Great engine sounds, great models. Difficult but rewarding physics. I think all of the car's default setups are for LaSarthe, so you may want to download one of the LaSarthe tracks as well. The Porsche 917 handles like a pig, but wow, it is a beast on the straights :) The Ferrari 312 handles much better, as does the Porsche 908. But they are all a little tricky. I'm just enjoying hotlapping in them at the moment 👍

EDIT: Here's a link to one of the LaSarthe mods at simraceway in case anybody wants to download it to go along with these cars. The WSC 1970 mod doesn't automatically come with a LaSarthe track. This is the version I'm running on and it's pretty nice: http://www.simraceway.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=242&itemid=203&modid=956

Cheers, the first link worked 👍

edit: spoke too soon, lol. Premature completion at 5 MB. :/ Trying zshare now.

That Sportscar mod is great. The sound of the GT40 is awesome, I love it. But all cars in that mod are great, highly enjoyable and worth downloading.

Here is just a quick video of FVR_09 (V8 supercars), and the car I am driving in a league.

Castrol as the main sponsor of the car? That's thinking with your dipstick, Jimmy!:dopey:

Out of curiosity.. what league do you run in? I have a beautiful Gulf Ford Falcon painted that looks gorgeous for the mod and I would love to run it... ;) --- Randy

I haven't played rFactor in a while. And really, I'm thinking of getting one of those external USB hard drives that store upwards of 250 GB of hard disk space. I want to put all of my rFactor stuff on that because I'm really in need of some disk space. I still enjoy rFactor and all that makes rFactor such a great game. I just haven't played it lately or found any mods that really interest me.

Sorry for the really late reply. Didn't notice you replied. I race at an aussie site called www.adrenalinfactor.com We just started a season, Season 7 will commence early next year. But yeah, all the details will be there.

Just a bit of news too with what Team ORSM are doing. These are the guys who created the successful V8Factor Mod. They are doing a V8Factor 2007/2008 mod currently. Here are a few pics of their progress on the VE Commodore.

Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiice, that'll fit in nicely with my existing V8 mods - V8Factor 06, FVR 09, FVRNZ 08/09 :)

There will, eventually (i.e. when its done..) be an update to the Corvette C6 mod. Including a model that is a little faster, I think they call it the ZR1.. ;)

first preview video of the physics:

Given the specs, the car is easier to drive than I thought, but it still has a lot of potential for putting drivers into the virtual hospitals.. :)

**edit**

Nevermind, i got the s**ts with the feature and downloaded Fraps to get my clips grabbed and converted.

Okay, just bought this, enjoying it so far, though need to tweak my settings a bit. Any recommendations for mods, general gameplay, etc?

Great to see, ummm. A few ones I like a Touring Car Legends, Toyota Supra MKIV, AE86 Cup. Those are really good mods. :)

Hmmmm I would add to the list... FVRV809, V8Factor, CTDP's F1 2005 and 2006... and the Megane Mod (rfactor must have). There are others so check them out.

MMG F1 2007. It has the SUPER AGURI

My list of must-haves:
TCL
V8Factor
FVR 09
CTDP 05
MMG 07
GP79
Megane (because a ton of online servers use it)
CARTFactor
Indycar 09
NAGT
Various Porsche Carrera Cups
VHR

All of those mods sound great, and I would also recommend trying the 1970 WSC mod, along with the Endurance Series mod, especially if you like Sportscar/LeMans type racing 👍

Cool, got loads to try out!

One of the reasons for buying the game was to compete (well I was going to buy it anyway, just happened to coincide) in a European-time BTCC league. It starts on Sunday November 8th from about 3PM GMT (I think we are still GMT+1 then).

We got any interested? It's on SimRaceOnline.

SHE'S TAKING OVER!!

on topic, I'm loving the AE86 package. I took it out on Sugo wet, so much fun!!
I usually use Wako's AE86.

In hindsight Eastern Creek Laser wasn't the best track to take them for a spin on. I was four seconds off the pace in the Super Aguri.
