When we race with Takata Dome, I'd like to hump a bump bit with them.

OMG! I hope she's alright...It looks like her airbags have deployed! :D
Different offset, weight, grip amounts/break points/grip directions.
Some wheels are good for some tunes, some are for others, and depends also bit driving style what suits best.
Will try to gather good list of my studies about rims, but that is time consuming stuff to do. When I wake I'll try to check few rims for GTR to test, then you'll see the difference.

Wow, nice car choice :) For lap time estimates :
"Naoki Hattori posted 2:07.600 lap time at Motegi Road Course on stock GTR with Dunlop OEM - SP Sport 600 DSST tires. My test lap was 2:07.4xxx on 1st lap run using my personal setup street/daily driving alignment preset."

From the replica post :) Online should be about a second or 2 slower and offline, it may be able to lap in 2:06s range with increased pace and warmer tires :P

For next week, may I suggest one of these : Nick Forza Dino, Ferrari 599XX or Swift S1600 Junior WRC at dirt track ( toscana ) or snow track ( Chamonix ) :P

  • Please use Stock Rims if it's in the tune's description, to avoid any possible differences.

  • I created the room this way to not be a boring spin around the track. If two or more racers join the practice room they can enjoy short racing experience. Anyway if you don't wanna race when it automatically starts, just jump out from the pits and if there will be no car present, the race will not start and you can spin infinitely. If you still wish to I make changes for the Practice Room, please tell me.

It seems I have to underline a lot of obvious things so, I've added Transmission, Drivetrain and Power Parts settings to the car's setup. If they weren't mentioned it doesn't mean you can do what you want with them.

The whole car's preparation setup should be this way:

Buy the car - follow exactly the tune description within the event's post - check what is free choice and that's all - nothing more. :P :D

He's with ABS, if ABS allowed then those laps are reachable.
Without ABS also, but needs several hundreds or more practising from me to get braking matched better.
If your (Ridox) test lap was 2:07, had to tip my hat for that, crazy fast, you are more than familiar with GTR, I'm not. :)

@OdeFinn
Ballast Position : -35
I didn't find the time to check this. Did you? What's your opinion? It needs fine-adjustment?

Only checked at it's middle of WD, changing place might get car more under- or oversteer, do we want to change behaviour?

Ridox spoke snow driving.
This can brake our patience.
This would be excellent experiment, best way and place to learn patience on steering/throttle/braking control.
Some soft suspension car would be easy practice car on snow.

@danbojte good mix on starting order, good good.

This would be excellent experiment

OK...don't say I didn't warned you... ;)
Snow is one of major reasons why Finns are bit above average on racing/car-sports, it teach to respect car mass and less grip. If you handle 150hp rwd and fwd car on snow you'll handle 500hp car on tarmac.
4wd cars are different world, learning curve should be started from RWD->FWD->4WD then it all come natural.

Snow - what a pleasant environment to drive.
There is more than 15 types of snow(probably closer 50), all giving different feel of grip, my English vocabulary isn't covering much of those, but Finnish winter is thing what all drivers should be able to get tested.
You will always remember at least few of times when your heart was visiting your throat and belly starts to fly out of body experiment, those moments you'll remember thru your life, you remember how thin line your life is and how smooth and gentle all your driving has to be to stay alive :)

If someone is interested, I could do some setup for snow driving, or find car good for it from Ridox garage.
GT6 tarmac settings are mostly too hard for snow. Maybe physics or snow simulation, but it's possible to make setup what simulates snow driving well.

@ALB123 for teet :

RAYS 57Xtreme - average turnability, bit under average on braking, good mix of all aspects.
RAYS 57D yellow - good turnability, tendency to start drift, bit above average braking capability. (These are common rims made for drifting IRL)
OZ Envy 5H - excellent turnability, precise control, excellent braking, bit lack of grip on accel, but all aspects more that above average. With these you'll never go straight on corner when braking.

Test those and if you have different or same feeling I'd like to hear it.
These are how they work under this GTR, same base abilities are valid on other cars too, reasons are coming from several different things, not trying to explain them now, later perhaps.

I agree, I think it would be fun to try this out at one point, just don't make it on august 1st, I'll be away.

We have similar winters here, and I agree about the different snow types :D, -10c snowfall is the most fun, not sticky but just enough fluff to have fun turning, especially with a AWD 👍.

I tried something different to learn the track, printed the map and put in the notes where the braking zones were, it helping me remember, I'll probably put the sheet on my music stand beside my screen just in case I forget :ouch:, after working on that off line I just went on line to try it for 2 laps , BL 2:10.561, other 2:11.689 , now all I need to do is keep those times consistently and with the rest of the drivers on the course :scared:.

I just saw the Alert, Suzuki Swift, 👍.

This can brake our wheels (wheel users). :scared:

This can brake our patience.

These are taken in consideration. Great cars. :) 👍

Cool :) Do you remember I drove a Pontiac Firebird 15th Anniversary online with you in the room ( CRAP ) at Chamonix ? I set the fastest lap time there during in between races free run, the Firebird was excellent in the snow and so much fun, that got me thinking o snow races :P

My test lap back when I made the replica was offline, I think it did dive into 2:06s on later laps, 2:07s was 1st lap, no ABS of course :P I think you can easily do it offline, but online should be a bit slower by a second or 2. The pace of my test lap was a bit towards realistic pace lap, no over driving or very late braking, just smooth sailing :D I think I saved the replay, but it's been a long time, I thought I posted a replay of it .... I think it may have been the Gallardo SL replica at Motegi, which was very close to the Nissan GTR offline :P The replay if uploaded on the replica post can be used as ghost for practice offline.

Edit: Can't wait to talk with you all after that event will be ended... :mischievous:

If anyone wanted to use the ghost for motegi, good for finding braking point and line to take on the esess and last few corners :)

Notes :

The Gallardo SL LP570-4 has 570PS or 562HP, with extensive carbon fibre lighweight body parts, tipping the scale at official dry weight figure of 1340kg and 43/57 weight distribution. The Best Motoring lap with the car based on the info gathered has curb / test weight at 1558 kg, similar to Car & Driver test weight.

I used SP Engineering Coilover Kit with Swift Springs, spring rate for the suspension at the front : 10.30 Kg/mm (576.8lb/in) and rear: 12.00 Kg/mm (672lb/in). I have set the damper and ARB to give slight trait of understeer but still have excellent balance from mid corner to exit, to reflect real life professional review of the car, a combination of Best Motoring's Hattori-san and Tsuchiya-san impression and Alain Prost's review in a magazine test.

I have used factory range alignment on camber and toe, this is mild setup aimed for balance on the street and track, giving even wear. There are 3 preset camber with 2 choices of toe level. The Gallardo SL has 2 way rear LSD with 25% lock on acceleration and 40% lock on coast/overrun, while the front is open based on information gathered so far. The VT ( Viscous Tracion ) system under normal driving conditions provide 15% power up front and 85% rear, while under extreme/optimum conditions, the system sends up to 30% power to the front wheels when needed. I have set the GT6 LSD to reflect this, with initial torque set to provide unique locking transition giving around 40-45% lock overall. The LSD gives excellent traction and response to throttle, drive like a one would drive a Gallardo in real life would, be smooth and make use of the AWD system, a good throttle play will give slight oversteer on exit and neutral mid corner, heavy foot won't do :P

The Gallardo SL LP570-4 570PS SP Engineering replica was tuned and tested at Tsukuba, Motegi Road Course, Willow Springs and Red Bull Ring. The real life record at Motegi Road Course is 2:08.657. I have tested the car extensively on 1558kg and medium camber. The car managed 2:07.3s at Twin Ring Motegi and 1:25.1s at Willow Springs ( Big Willow ).

I have provided replays below of the run at Willow Springs and Twin Ring Motegi, enjoy.

I recommend to drive with 1558kg + medium camber or try the 1558kg + aggressive track high camber low speed setup at Twin Ring Motegi

Notes :

The Murcielago, successor to the cool Diablo. I made this long ago, recently drove it again and found it to be enjoyable. This replica is comprised of 2 version, 2002/2003 Car & Driver Test Base Coupe ( non LP ) and Best Motoring 2007 LP640 Motegi Lap Record.

The power and weight for the 2002/2003 Car & Driver is 572HP and 1842kg with 42.2 / 57.8 distribution, while the 2007 Best Motoring LP640 has 631HP and 1805kg with same distribution.

Suspension is custom tuned by me, as there's not solid information on the spring rate except for the front rate which is not available in GT6 ( the minimum value still too high ). I decided to use 450/750 rate, the ratio has been optimized to work with the distribution. The 2002/2003 Car & Driver has soft damper setup while the LP640 has stiffer front damper compression and rear extension to give better track handling. Ride height is set using the ground clearance data from C & D at 4.8 inch / 122mm.

The gearing has separate set as well. The 2002/2003 Base Coupe has different gear ratio fitted with the 6.2 liter V12 engine which has lower redline at 7600RPM. The Car & Driver max speed on each gear is different than most other publication articles :

........Gear Ratio Mph/1000rpm Max.speed in gears
I .............2.94...... 10.1 ......... 77 mph (7600 rpm)
II ............2.06...... 14.5 ........ 110 mph (7600 rpm)
III ..........1.52...... 19.6 ......... 149 mph (7600 rpm)
IV ..........1.18...... 25.2 ......... 192 mph (7600 rpm)
V ...........1.03...... 28.9 ......... 205 mph (7100 rpm)
VI ...........0.91...... 32.6 ......... 205 mph (6300 rpm)

The Murcielago in GT6 has 6.5L V12 with 8500RPM redline, to account for this and keep the max speed similar, a corrected final ratio is used at 2.750. An optional final 3.137 can also be used to achieve similar max speed often listed by other publication.

For the LP640, the correct final drive has been provided, taken into account the 2.530 rear axle ratio and 1.24 transfer gear ratio. The max speed and acceleration now is accurate for both version.

LSD is 1 way front and 2 way rear, employing low preload with 25% lock up front and 45% lock rear to reflect real life specification. The LSD has been tuned to provide mild understeer but still can be pushed sideways at will, similar to the real life reviews.

The rear wing is optional, while the color paint has been provided with variety of choices. The Mystic Teal Metallic is chosen to replicate the Jade Green 40th Anniversary Edition.

The replica, particularly the LP640 has been tested at Twin Ring Motegi and Tsukuba. At Tsukuba, it can lap in low 1:03s, while at Motegi Road Course, the replica is able to replicate the real life Best Motoring lap record at 2:09.955. My test lap was in 2:08s with comfort soft tires.

For the Base Coupe/40th Anniversary replica version, the real life record at Tsukuba is at 1:04.76, try to aim that time with the Base Coupe specs ( 572HP/1841kg ) and Base Transmission with 2.750 Final.

The Murcielago is heavy super sports, it has good traction and acceleration from 1st to 3rd gear, and care must be taken when braking from high speed. The brakes are okay, but might need earlier application. On medium to high speed curve, be smooth with the steering and throttle, the heavy rear end can easily cause unwanted overload on the outside tires.
This is similar to the Best Motoring lap and races, in which the pro driver Naoki Hattori has to drive rather cautiously at Motegi, slow in fast out gives good lap.

He noted that the car has understeer tendency, and the rear wanted to step out albeit subtle in process. He cited the uneasy feeling from the rear on turn in, and careful throttle was necessary on exit to avoid traction break out. He even spun at the S turn on the warm up lap ( off camera ). Brake early, smooth driving line is am must, as suggested on the Best Motoring video below. Naoki Hattori best lap during solo run 2:11.435, much slower than the race best lap set by Yuji Ide ( ex F1 Super Aguri Driver )

The replay has been provided for the Twin Ring Motegi lap, using the LP640 specs setup, enjoy :D
Also the video of the Murcielago in action - the lap was achieved during the race at 2:09.955, the LP640 came in 2nd after losing power nearing the end of the race, possibly due to overheating.

UPDATE 1.16 : Updated LSD to reflect real life LSD spec front 25% and rear 45%. Additional camber and toe added ( used on the LP670-4 SV )

These 2 replica has a replay at Motegi uploaded, simply click to go the actual post and download the replay. The Murcielago did 2:08s and Gallardo SL LP570-4 2:07s :P

Don't download then , but watch the Best Motoring video linked in the replica post, Hattori-san and Tsuchiya-san did quite a nice detail on how to attack Motegi, and where the crucial corners are to not lose time. You can try 2 different lines on 1st corner for example :), hug the apex or wide entry. The same goes for 2nd corner, brake late or early, stay inside or wide :P

Does anyone know how to factory reset the PS3? My GT6 game is all messed up. I don't know what the heck caused it to start flaking out but it keeps locking up on me, the road disappears while on the Nordschleife, etc... I have already backed up my GT6 data file. It's the ~400K file that you copy to a USB stick, right? That's the only thing I need to make sure I can start back up where I left off, right?

What are the next steps? Should I do a factory reset of the PS3 or should I just delete and re-install GT6 completely? I don't play any other games - so anything that's on the PS3 that might get erased, I don't give a crap about. Could someone tell me HOW to erase a game from the PS3 completely, so that I can re-install it fully? I understand that this is going to take quite a long time, but I have no choice. I pray that this will fix my problem. If you think doing a factory reset of the PS3 is better, could you tell me how I go about doing that?

Thanks guys...

@ALB123 : Your PS3 might overheat and causing funny stuff like graphic corruption and random lock up. If you can, open it up, and blow it with air pump, do not use vacuum cleaner. Take out the fan and clean it with damp cloth, remove all the grime and dust. I cleaned my PS3 every 6 months, and it has quite some dust collecting in 6 months alone. Very easy to do and safe, I have done it many times. BTW, my PS3 is slim not super slim.
