RKM Motorsport - Tuned Tuners - May '13

I requested an FC3S RX-7 GT-X street legal tune. Well, street legal :drool:

Fully ported motor (stage 3),stock turbo, ECU done, Intake + filter,full exhaust (maniford, cat, racing titanium exhaust, stock tranny.
Stock weight, but stiffend.

Full suspension, diff and ofcourse, sport soft tires (in my eyes street legal semi slicks)

It has, broken in, 345hp. More than enough! It has great response! And that unmistakeable rotary noise. Ported to the max, who doesnt love that sound?

It is definitely one of my dream cars. The tune is perfect. It had LOTS of grip and the motor delivers enough punch to go fast even with the stock tranny.
You can throw it around, drift it, and you can always catch it. It has enough power to slide, it has a safe amount of understeer, what is perfect. I like that little backup in a tune.If you go too fast, the butt comes round a little. Just a litte, enough to grab that corner! Blip the throttle, drift a little and get the grip back again and gooo!

Really love The street tuned NSX.
Thanks for the review! Weight is always a double-edged sword. I think the early model NSX works better with more weight to make up for the lack of grip from the smaller tyres, although as you said, it can have it's drawbacks.

Well I did say the NSX grew up a bit with the tune, although it sounds like there's not enough front grip to match the rear now. The main point was making it faster so yes it's probably gained some understeer and because I was thrashing the nuts off it at Trial, I was used to driving it in the new way. It's got the speed though which is good, I can bring back some of the fun side without changing that I think.

The brakes I'll look into though. I didn't even touch them but I guess the suspension changed it.

Thanks for the review! The FC was fun to tune because it reacted so well to small adjustments. I may post the settings but idealy I want RJ to post his FC tune first (which the street legal settings were based on) before I release the street legal.

So what you're telling me is that you haven't really finished the tune? :lol: The brakes need a lot more bite (as said), it hasn't 'gained' some understeer as opposed to just lost the will to turn, powersliding or hanging the arse out is now a chore rather than a pleasure and for god sake, make it the fun symbol of handling over power that it was again. I've always maintained, a fast car that's not fun is no match for a fun car that's slower. For not sticking to that rule, your mark for this exam has come down from an A+ to a C- :lol: :dopey:

I'll never finish the tune. :lol: Consider this update as a prototype to a future tune. :P It will be made more fun again, but I want to keep the newfound levels of rear grip. I like it to slide but I dont want a D1GP battle during a time trial. :P

No, that's good! You'll blind your opponents in a cloud of tyre smoke and then they'll be out of the running! :D

Oh, and if you thought my brownmobile can't possibly oversteer more than it is doing now, you thought wrong! With the diff settings upped from 6/48/28 to 6/58/38, it is so loose that on the tight little Toscana roads it was intended to run on, it had trouble pointing straight! :D

Surprised you spelled 'surprise' wrong there :D And ok, since you reminded me, what will the future tune be like? If it's about getting better lap times, then you're going the wrong way entirely. In fact, what were the settings for the older version?

No, I'd try 5/60/50 or 5/60/60 to get it to kill me :lol:

The future tune isn't an update to the 3rd Anniversary, it's a whole new car. :P I've actually forgotten them. :lol:

Eh I don't drift that often though. Was able to reach around 16k in Monaco though in a pink 380RS but meh.

I'm not that dirty... Oh wait, that's the best tactic to win in Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune and maybe its that I unconsciously bring that up in our games. I'm only dirty when it's all about fun, but if we're serious, I DO know the rules.
 
On a side note, have you made a tune for the MP4-12C? I'm sure you guys participated in a (now obscure) tuner shootout with that car as the car to tune. I'd like to borrow the suspension settings please.

From what I remember and know, interest in that shootout dropped before any tuning could be done…

A send off why? It's not a replacement for the 3rd Anni, it's a sibling.
On a side note, have you made a tune for the MP4-12C? I'm sure you guys participated in a (now obscure) tuner shootout with that car as the car to tune. I'd like to borrow the suspension settings please.

Nope and we didn't. I will be doing an MP4-12C at some point though, 600PP to take on the 458 I did.

It is good to be lucky man. I loved that car to bits and I also have one which is exactly 600PP. I'm sure though that mine doesn't have the tuning parts as planned by you though.

...or maybe a street legal version? Give me a week to lay off writer's block. Cheerdance practice is a magnificent excuse to have really little homeworks.

I never had felt such burst of motivation in my whole life.

Or can I use a review buried in obscurity and yet unused for a valid request?

Oi, the RED one was updated, the BLU one is nowhere to be found...

...but the GRN one has the settings you're looking for. Sometimes sticking with older versions work better :lol:

Stiffer front dampers to sharpen the turn-in, LSD braking turned up a bit to make it more eager to rotate and sharper brakes. Also it's gotten faster again! :dunce:

Also Onboy if you don't like this one then I'm sorry bud, but I think you're too emotionally attached to the old settings. :P

Also the 458 gear ratios are confirmed to work, I forget who asked about that but there you go.

I'm going for a similar recipe to my 458 so maybe, maybe not. Street legal MP4 isn't on my to-do list for now unless I really like the MP4 after this 600PP tune up. :lol:

I don't have the older settings anymore! :lol: You'll have to see if someone quoted them in the thread. I always overwrite old settings if the new ones are better.
