Robin's daughter, Zelda Williams, tweeted an excerpt from The Little Prince, a book my Dad read to me when I was little, this brought yet another tear to my eye.
Zelda Williams'You – you alone will have the stars as no one else has them … In one of the stars I shall be living. In one of them I shall be laughing. And so it will be as if all the stars were laughing, when you look at the sky at night … You – only you – will have stars that laugh.'
I love you. I miss you. I'll try to keep looking up.
RIP, my favourite comedian ever, amongst three or four other supreme comedians.
As a teen I was addicted to his improvisational style, sometimes he really didn't pull it off but when he did it was absolutely magical.
His films showed a range of comic talents and often allowed him to subtly reinvent himself. Mrs. Doubtfire still didn't get tired the 1012th time my kids watched it.
In films like The Dead Poet's Society and even Good Morning Vietnam we saw the deep pathos of what seemed to be Robin William's genuine character.
I'm stopping short of naming all my favourite films and moments because, incredibly, most Robin Williams pages are inaccessible right now... and I'll be flamed forever if I misquote without checking.
Maybe it's a measure of how many people he touched that in this hour the internet was deafened by people calling his name.
Thanks to @iMikeTheKing for sourcing the Sheriff statement.
@CallmeDan found this tweet from The Academy... perfectly worded;
