Hi, GTPlanet. If you were looking for a racing thread anout rocky road ice cream, you were sadly mistaken. This topic is a discussion of race car drivers, racing teams, even race cars themselves that were looking good, but are nowadays struggling. The topic foci (plural of focus) is on these four things:

(A) race cars that are impressive, but haven't won anything major or winning at all
(B) race car drivers that have been impressive but are stuggling nowadays
(C) race teams that have been impressive, but are stuggling (driver included for this category)
(D) race car drivers that have been impressive and have done well during a season, but haven't won anything major either at all or in a while

I don't want to make this a bashing topic, after all. We're only mentioning that there are tough times in racing, but we really want them to do better and try harder. I don't have any serious examples, so here's what I would come up with:

(A) Toyota GT-One, for sure. I think the car came close in 1998 and 1999, but have never took the top podium for Le Mans. I really wanted them to win one for Japan and make Japan a big name on the international circuit.

(B) Jeff Gordon is a very good racer, but I don't think he's been doing too well nowadays since cleaning up the championship in 2001.

(C) McLaren seemed to have declined all season right now in F1. Mika Hakkinen/Michael Schumacher was one of the greatest rivalries of the early 1990s. Now Mika's retired, Raikkonen been in some trouble, and David Coulthard hasn't hit the heights recently.

(D) Ryan Newman got to be Driver of the Year last year, and is a serious threat in qualifying. But I don't think he ever finished the job by winning.

Now it's your turn.

I hate to say it but the Petty's in NASCAR.Their cars have been mid pack for a long time and Kyle just can't get the job done.Last year there seemed to be more drivers that were on the down curve, most have retired this year,In F1 the BAR team seems to have stalled at about 6th.I can't see them improving anytime soon. The EVO in WRC,yes it is the first year back but they do have a long way togo.Michel Walltrip had better get on his horse or he will be on the sidelines soon.
Meclaren,I feel, will turn things around. But they had better do it sonn.I have heard rumors that Mercedes Benz might pull out.

After I said this about M.Walltrip, he gose and gets out side pole.Is he a member???
:banghead: :odd:

Craig Lowndes and the Prodrive owned Ford Performance Racing. The only time they do any good is when Craig Lowndes' talent outweighs the many flaws in the cars capabilities, such as Phillip Island last year (wet) or Eastern Creek a few weeks ago (wet). The car is a 5HITBOX. Handles like 5hit and the Pommy built motors have got bugger all power. They blew up two motors at the first round in Adelaide and one motor at the second round at Eastern Creek. Get Craig into a half decent car and he will wipe the floor with the likes of HRT and SBR.
