Only 4 laps run in the Black  Rx8 515Hp
1:08.170 still time to come of
(hit the limiter at about the 150 brake marker) and just general cleaner ( and smoother!) cornering
cheers guys :D

2 more runs done
RX-7 LM 979Hp 58.530
RX-7 LM 600hp 1:03.744

i do have replays saved for all of these runs ive posted :)
will have them up as soon as get over to Prancing Horse's place sometime this week :mazda: :rotor:
up the rotors!!!!

:D Great to have a fellow aussie 'addictee' here at midfield. You sure have been a busy boy Bollocks, and some of those times are very impressive! Good stuff mate.

Last night i was fiddling with a few hybrids (needed a break from seeing flinx's and MrP's 787B tailpipes) and made up an RX7 LM with a simple engine swap. I threw in a 787B quad rotor engine with 984 ponies on board. It was very interesting to see how she compared to my 979hp 'regular' RX7 LM. They seemd very close, but i must say that the 'regular' RX7 LM seemed to have the edge. Had my brother over for some 'split screen' battles with the two cars and it was great fun. I was in the 787B powered RX7, and got my arse handed to me on a plate :D , guess i'd better tweak the RX7 LM gearbox a bit more to suit the different power curve of the 26B engine  . If i get the chance, and if we end up doing a good race, i'll post one of the 'split screen' duels here for you guys to have a chuckle at

hi everyone, hey i have a rx7 RZ that my best time is 1'04.800. i dont have any pic but ill try to get some. thanks. by the way is there any setup to lower my time. i trying hard enouth to lower it and i can't get more lower time. thanks :D

Welcome eddierotary with some great non race bodied RX times  Looks like you need minimal help with your settings if those times are anything to go by mate ;)

And i've just finsihed another session with the 984hp 787B. Running very consisitent high 54's now, with quite a few mid54's as well. Seem to have the first two sectors going smooth, but falter at the end all the time. Tried some new tweaks to my settings and came away with a minor improvement, and as long as my PB's are dropping then i'm happy. But it would be very nice to have a 53 second run before my thumbs are worn away  :thumbsdow :reallyodd

Anyways, heres my new effort -
54.316 (16.299/33.003)

Been running against Flinx's 787B ghost lately, and decided to fire up MrP's ghost for some runs this time around. Hit a nice 54.6 early on and then proceeded to rattle off quite a few 54.5's and 54.4's before hitting a new PB -

54.294 (16.441/33.088)

I was practically looking right into your tailpipes as we crossed the line MrP!. You really nail the bends leading into the first tunnel, and also the 'S' bends before the second tunnel. Looked like getting you on a couple of occassions when i got a good run off the ripple and hit some fast S2 splits, but always seemed to get a bit rattled when trying to maintain speed leading into the fast 'S'. I've still got the PS2 in the living room, so i'll probably have a few more laps tonight and then post the replay next time i'm hooked up.

And as far as hybrids go, i've got a hell of alot to learn. Managed to download some fabulous high speed high DF monsters from some guy (is it weiner somebody.....?), and they absolutely blow my poor ole RX7 Lm effort away :odd:  :D

And this was an effort i thought had taken me a bit closer to Flinx, but upon watching sector 5 in logger mode my suspicions became correct. A slight off track experience cost me an even better PB :( .

Oh well, its a good ghost to chase anyways.

I've finally gotten a chance to get out here for the Rotary Day.
I'm never the fastest guy on any given day, which gives me ample opportunity to learn.

Currently I sit at 56.417. As is my usual standard, I'm two seconds off the leader. On to my question. I have a rough idea that I use as standard set-up, and it's performed really well.

Springs: 17.4/17.5
Ride height: low/slightly higher.
Shock Bound: 5/6
Shock Rebound: 6/7
Camber 3.3-3.6 / 1.7-2.1
Toe: 0.5/-1.0
Brakes: mid range/slightly higher
LSD: 10/23/20
Final Drive: 4.000-4.500
Auto Setting: dependent upon track
Down Force: max
ASM = 0; TCS = 1

When I DL'd Mr. P's replay, and read the settings via MK's utility,
I was mystified.

Springs: 6.0/16.0
Ride height: 115/85
Shock Bound: 8/8
Shock Rebound: 10/10
Camber 1.5/3.0
Toe: 0.0/0.0
Brakes: 15/15
LSD: 5/20/5
Final Drive: (couldn't figure this out, either 3.000 or 4.999)
Auto Setting: dependent upon track
Down Force: max
ASM = 0; TCS = 3

With these settings, I immediately dropped 1.2 seconds from my time. Can someone help me out here and explain why the changes make such a difference?

Thanks,
AO

To the best of my knowledge (which is not much  ) -

Ride Height - the higher front end seems to help cars turn a bit better in GT3 for some reason. Don't ask me why though :P. Alot of guys run these reverse tilt settings, but some do it to a lesser degree with similar effect (ie F-70 R-60 etc...)

Spring rate - the lower the spring rate the 'softer' the car becomes. I used to run very high 'hard' spring rates, but found that the 'softer' approach tends to give a bit more spped and stability when hitting the ripples and bumps. For example, I tend to really ride the ripple strip on the sweeping left hander after the first tunnel. If i have the spring rate high then the car is very unforgiving and unstable, yet with my low spring rate the car rides the ripple with better stability and speed. Horses for courses.

Toe - 0/0 = a very neutral car. Try 0/0 and then change one value at a time and see what she does.

Nice runs Rypien !

Used your set up too all but the lsd ( bad on the eyes:P ) and the gears which I kept the same and managed to improve my lap only slightly though to a 54.804 and here's the replay :D

56.055. Could probably cut .2 02 .3, but my hands started cramping.

Need a break anyway.

OK. Finally have my replay ready for upload. Looks like I've got to spend some more time getting this tighter. As for now, I've got to set my sights on Talentless' time.

Seems to me I'm always a few tenths behind you, T. You make a good target. So now to shave another half second off it.

Here's the replay, for now...

Well after seeing the popularity in this thread I decided to join in. With my settings I managed a 57.107 in the 787b. But with the most recent posted settings I got a 55.692 is that pretty good?

Great to see a new face hitting the track in the quad rotor monster  . Welcome smg :) .

Your 55 second run is fantastic, and i'm glad you have taken some advice listed in this thread regarding settings. Some very fast racers have posted some great set ups and some good improvements can easily be gained.

I've been a bit lazy with my 787B Midfield runs of late, but i do intend to post some replays of a new hybrid that i've been fiddling with. Hope to get them on-line soon.

Thnaks for the quick response, I thought I'd have to wait atleast a day for one.

Could you guys help me out by telling me the speeds you take your corners at. You can tell me kph or mph I'll convert.

Like the first wide turn. I start that turn at about 95mph (153kph) never any faster and leave the turn at about 115-120mph (185-193khp) then comes the staright with the slight joggle. After passing the first time sector at mid 16's and reach the turn into the tunnel. I take that at about the 90mph (145khp) go inside far enough to hit the rumble strip. Then for the worst turn of the level. I take this big swooper at a constant speed of 95-100mph (153khp-160kph) and reach the next time sector at mid 33's. Tap the break before the hair pin, and then jam them on till I reach 55mph (88khp) if faster only by a few mph, I can take the turn no less than 60mph (98khp) and accelerate out.

What speeds do you get.

Converter: http://malamas.com/jsuc/jsuc.html (Velocity & Speed)

When i hook up the PS2 again i'll write down all of the logger data sectors, speeds and info for ya.
