close to the cape ring jump?

I know that rally cars can take jumps pretty well but something tells me that the landing on this one didnt turn out too well.

I'm not one of the selective ethics people here. I understand that the sim isn't real life.

It's simply hypocritical to pick and choose "cheats" you like while decrying others for using "cheats" you don't like.

Compared to real life, the reset button is the biggest "cheat" of all time.

And I already track real cars. It "works out" well for me. Thanks.

As were the wall bouncers. (Something I never did BTW)

This thread would suggest otherwise.

If doing something in the sim you coudn't do in real life makes it a "cheat" then every one that, pulled the E-brake in a race car, shifted the regular 370 without a clutch, jumped a car 10 ft into the air, reset a car after a crash etc. has used a "cheat".

But those cheats are ok....
*sighs* you still don't get it. You're likening something like a wall bounce to that of a jump/e-brake/sequential shifting etc... you classify all of them as "cheats" because in real life the same rules don't apply. Everyone understands that. That is not whats being argued here.

you apparently didn't read this since you continue to go round like a record for another 3 pages... so I'll quote myself here for your benefit.

That's [going off track] the only one you have a choice about. Ethics can't exist without an opportunity for the individual to chose how they want to behave in civilization. The things you're bringing up are a straw man as they are accepted norms and the contest could not exist without them.
The simulators mere existence contains the traits your extolling as cheating compared to reality. So just by playing the simulator we've all joined a civil agreement saying that we are all comfortable with the idea of suspending fear in the name of fantasy. However everything that happens beyond that initial civil agreement to suspend realism is a choice and therefore subject to ethical debate.

you're right... there's a youtube video of this jump somewhere, i just can't remember but (edit: he lost a right rear tire) a part of suspension was broken when they landed.

I don't understand all this debate on wall bouncing and grass cutting. Ok, the end goal is to win the GT Academy right?...I think all will agree. This is for the ones that "exploit", suppose you win the GT Academy!...to bad Nissan says they don't want you because when you pulled into the winners circle the car looks like it belongs in the junk yard from friggin slamming it into walls and off roading with it! Do they want a driver that costs them a car every race because he does "whatever it takes to win" regardless of rules? I don't think so. And I believe by now we all know how we should be driving, this was the 3rd time we had to do rd 2 for the same exploits! This has officially turned into a cluster F¥EUR? because certain people refuse to drive like it's real.

@ Dr watson...

So you have no choice? You MUST use the reset button when you screw up and crash your gazillion dollar race car?

The game forces you to ignore the real-life implications of crashing your car?

I think we get your point that the reset button isn't real. You've said it like 10 times.

Yet you still ignore the hypocrisy of it....and the 10ft jump etc...

You don't want to race within the rules of reality or the rules of the software.

You want to race within the rules you make up, and call anyone who operates outside of your cherry-picked spot betwen reality and the software a "cheater".

At the track, it's like demanding a "Me" class for your car. (one that your car fits perfectly into and is competitive in.)

I know I'm ignoring it because, well, you're annoying.

And don't assume you know how "I" want things, because you are way off.

Ok, this HAS happened, there is nothing that can be done about it now.

This thread is turning into a bunch of bickering, let's just all be thankful that when Round 3 starts we won't have to read/respond to things in regards to which this thread was started... Eh?

You're joking right?
Of course the game forces me to ignore the real-life implications of crashing the car.

The only reason I ever went wide in the first place in Round 1 was/is because I entered this competition to begin with to challenge myself to become amongst the faster drivers in sim racing by moving on to Round 2. I am here to compare myself to those who already have acheived being amongst the fastest sim racers in the country. I cant compare myself to these guys if I do not utilize every advantage/disadvantage they are utilizing. This is why I never would have even thought about cutting Indy or wall bouncing until the majority of the top guys became forced to do it.

Personally, I am not here to test my driving morals; I am here to test my driving skills. Whatever it takes to level the playing field (apart from the raw skill) I will do it. My only morals here are to not do what the majority of you fastest guys in the top 10s are not doing. If I exploited and you guys did not, that would destroy my reason for being here to begin with.

I was however disgusted by the Indy course cutting and the wall bouncing at the other tracks because of how blatantly disrespectful the "cheaters" were to the guys who actually deserve to advance, without even waiting to see if the top guys would do it themselves.

I would really love to know what was going on in the minds of the d-bags who had thought it was "ALL GOOD DEWWD" to snatch up podium rankings in Round 2 by blatantly use those cheats or exploits, whatever you wish to call them.

When you refer to people who bounce off walls as below you, while you yourself bounce your car off the pavement from 10 feet in the air, one can only infer what kind of rules you want.

The use of the term "gaymers" to refer to players who exploited the boundaries of the circuit is not acceptable and consistutes a breach of the AUP. If I see it again, I'll start issuing infractions. COnsider yourselves warned.

Of course the game forces me to ignore the real-life implications of crashing the car.

So you start racing with your magical, unscathed race car, moments after you total it, and you claim this is not by your own choice?

I really hope they fix this.

Ok, I'll bite. Z1NONLY, what forms of racing have you done?

I think we all know the cars we "drive" in the game couldn't sustain the jump made at Cape. I think we all know they don't come with sequential gear boxes, either. Or that there is a reset button. We GET what you are saying. But it is, indeed, a stretch to equate that to wall bouncing, and the corner cutting that was going on at Indy. You can connect the two, but the INTENTIONS and APPLICATIONS are different. If you choose not to see it that way, fine. Call me selective, I don't care.

I think he was refering mostly to the Cape and running wide but I could be mistaken.

Actually, something IS being done, and that's the best part. 👍

There is a difference, which apparently you don't see.

I know they are "fixing" the DQ parameters, but what I was intending to say is it's too late to do anything about "what has already happened." It's all moving forward from there(thankfully)..... I agree it's great that they are fixing the parameters.. Cheers !

This is what I was doing all day Saturday and Sunday, while I was getting bumped from 4th to 12th to the freakin 20's....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvIrjNxGUPI

(Although Saturday I was doing it in a lot of different cars.)

but I have also done a bit of 1/8th, 1/4, and even some short track (oval) stuff. I also consider the tail of the dragon my personal Mecca and make the trek from the bottom of Florida at least once a year.:)

That's just it. I submit that someone who INTENDS to cheat wouldn't do something they knew others could see and duplicate. But the wall bouncers knew that everyone could watch and duplicate what they were doing.

Therefore their actions couldn't help them win. It could only get them around the track as fast as they could go. Others could, and some did, go faster still.

How can something that has no effect on your chances of winning and that you do out in the open, be "cheating".

About 60? I would have said more along the lines of atleast 256 :odd:

Ya, I was only talking about the West region(as I'm in the west). Not too worried about any of the other regions(until that time may come).

Both are allowed by the software and both don't work in real life.

The difference between the two is that you are OK with one and not OK with the other.

The difference being that one is in the middle of the track and people fly over it without thinking much about it. The other is a blatant form of cheating.

There IS a difference.

The first time I approached that hill in triple digits, I thought about it. (before the academy)

So did I, because I didn't know what was on the other side. Point being that it's part of the normal routine for that track. Using the walls as a means to improve your time is not a normal routine for most of us.

I didn't think much about running wide at the cape at all. Or cutting the last corner at indy. It would be very unnatural to not do those things.
