Requires clean driving? No sir, it requires beating your opponent.

If he or she is given the same tools as you, you would be A FOOL not to use what you have to your advantage.

Again, whine ALL you want. In the end the fastest drivers (that are also willing to do what it takes) will take the prize, everyone else DOESN'T MATTER :)

If you wish to be all pretty and dignified in your fail chair. Sit comfortably forever. We don't mind at all.

If there is nothing wrong with driving like an idiot than why was round 2 canceled?

They obviously want people to drive clean.

Also, they are obviously checking replays, and if you people who are cutting, bouncing, and offroading think you are in the clear, remember there are most likely people from the competition keeping notes on what players are doing what. So when you make it to the finals and they ask your PSN do you want to have a record of clean driving or using questionable tactics?

Why didn't they do this in round 1? Well, we didn't make a big stink about it in round 1, people didn't call Sony, Jordan didn't post an article on the home page. If we took the same action in round 1 that we took in round 2 we probably could have gotten a better track than Cape.

haha I think some people realized this.. I saw some new names at the top of the list on saturday, never seen those names before the madrid/rome combo. I might be wrong but there is a chance that some has double psn names.

PD says you CANNOT, they cancelled this round because of the above mentality. So maybe you should think outside the box you got there..

They will change the rules because people complained. Will it change the results at all? Nope.

Driving clean, dirty, backwards or upside down won't slow down the fast people or speed up the slow.

You expect a driver NOT to cut a corner his opponent is cutting because of some crazy ethical reason? Doesn't exist in true racing. (as in, the sunday afternoon fun race can have whatever the drivers want, but if you're talking about people who actually give a crap about winning, you can never, ever expect them to not do what absolutely everything they can to come out on top)

I'm also sure you flew your "dignified" car ten feet in the air at the cape ring too, didn't you?

That's different as the jump is actually on the racing surface. It doesn't require you to cut corners, bang off of walls, or fly across a non-paced surface to use it.

So you never crashed the car and reset?

If you were "disiplined", a crash would be the end of the competition for you.

But I bet you found a way to rationalize your own crashes and resets. I'm also sure you flew your "dignified" car ten feet in the air at the cape ring too, didn't you?

I race IRL so your point is well understood. As I said before, people who can understand both worlds will succeed.

I'm sure there is tons of competitors here that never have driven stick shift. But some can learn, some will not be as fast as they are in the game.

I reset when I went 4OFF at eifel and was ahead of my 2:52.3XX clean lap ghost ;)

Ah, but in this case you are entirely incorrect. It DID speed up the slow, and that is the whole issue.

Not drive like a retard?

I bet the retard makes it to the final. And you will be sitting at home reading about it!! Just like me.

Basically if the ****ing game was made right there would be no cheating. How about you start attacking PD for the **** penalty system they put in place.

Sidebar- Am I the only one that never runs a ghost? Sure, I will download a replay and analyze the technique of a driver with a better time than me, but I have never ran with a ghost, simply because it's impossible to be precise with it. My advice to people who run with ghosts- don't use them. Just watch the replays in theater mode and then make adjustments on track. You'll go faster.

I'm with you. Never loaded a ghost in my life. I download replays, watch the lap 3-5 times in a row, then hit the track myself.

Also, Dr. Watson is an ethics champ!

But yeah, after being pretty butthurt for most of the day yesterday, I've shrugged it off and gotten over it. I'm now just focusing on practicing for round 3.. and school.. which i put off completely last week..

EDIT: oops, forgot to weigh in on the recent discussion, but here are my thoughts. The world is comprised of tons of different people with vastly different backgrounds. What's acceptable to a radical islam is not acceptable to a christian fundamentalist. Much like corner cutting is not acceptable to me, it's clearly not a problem to all the people who elected to do it at indy. I guess what I'm trying to say is that there is no right answer, just where you draw the line between cheating/clean, and what side of that line you decide to stand on. I personally believe the "win at all costs" mentality is foolish but you know, that's just my opinion.

I don't think it was the complaints. PD never thought competitors would actually get this nasty. They made a mistake assuming people will have dignity. And that's why they did not DQ them. It was a mistake..

I dont get your mentality. You are already really fast, you dont need any loopholes.

The fastest in the country at-the-time ghost I was using went four off (while I stayed all four on) before the tight up-hill right hander, and I never felt "cheated" once.

I really miss that track...

Yes, like the ones who are on the top of the leader board.

I'm sure there is tons of competitors here that never have driven stick shift. But some can learn, some will not be as fast as they are in the game.

I've been driving since I could reach the pedals of a car, at the time it was Brazil, no autos. I started double clutching and rev matching since I got my drivers license here. Practiced it to perfection, you could not feel the slightest hint of a gear change, up or down, only hear it. Within the first month of practicing I was able to do it perfectly 95% of the time.

Does that even matter though? This competition is to see who can be fast in GT first, which I will do my best at.

If you're not fast enough to qualify then it doesn't matter if you can shift well or be fast in real life. That's not the point of the competition.

THERE is what is wrong with this whole competition. ^^^

Actually it's about 10 feet off the surface.

Forget how high it was, did they even let off the gas for the landing? That alone would break the car instantly.

I went a step further and put in 6th gear to raise the wheel inertia even more. It was a boost of at least .05. Easy bonus :)

Are you saying that if I cut indy I'd still be behind the people I was originally behind (or in front)?

No, I'm saying all those people that magically showed up on the leader boards who none of us had seen before wouldn't have been there if they hadn't cut corners or used the wall to their advantage. We know this because the tracks that they couldn't do that, they were behind the leaders like they normally are. As cenk pointed out, YOU don't need to use the exploits because you are fast enough already.

Actually it's about 10 feet off the surface.

It's within the boundaries of the racing surface. There, that better?

It would have all balanced out if the fast people started cutting too. It wouldn't have changed ANYTHING.

Yeah but it would require you to stoop to their level. I consider myself better than that, so I won't do it. Thankfully Sony has seen the light and is fixing the problem.

I didn't have much time to play but I did manage to run a CLEAN 1:39.012, and then 30 sec later my brother called me and said they cancelled round 2 lol, took me like 2 hours Sunday morning to get that time. Round 3 should be fun, it better be at least a week :)

The point is that cutting here is something that we have to live with unless something is done about it, like it is now.

Crazy things happen in real life and people do amazing things to try to win. Either we take it in and better ourselves or we will always be second best.

It's all fine and dandy to be fast and super clean, but some people don't care about that, they just want to win and if it's something they can do, they will do it.

Cheef, like you said, there are many people with many different thoughts. You take your side and fight for it. Racing is brutal though and if you're in it to be the best you can be, you have to live with/do some messed up things.

Like I said here on the forums, I'll never forget having that excruciating pain in my ribs when hitting a nearly foot high curb at 50mph, WOT, sideways, towards a hole without being able to see anything that I was doing, but not letting off just because I needed to lower my time. If I can do that I sure as hell can cut a little corner in a video game

off topic want to buy a rig and want ot quik.maybe choats can help cuz i want evolution i think looks good for the money . wheres best place 2 buy 1 amozon says ships 1 ta 2 months .please respond .whould like to have it buy the next round.

This debate can go on forever. What it comes down to is this is a SIM or what every you would like to call it and that is it. What most of you are saying is "I am not going to drive unethically 'cause I would never do it in real life". Ok thats fine, if that is the way you feel then please continue to do so.

Now there is real life, I challenge any of you to go take a completely "by the rules" race car to the national runoffs for example. Pick your class is doesn't matter. And you will soon realize you will not stand a chance and it doesn't matter how good of a driver you are. The point is people cheat in many ways most of you would never know. So if you tell yourself I will never modify my car beyond the rules because I think that is unethical, then you will never stand a chance in racing. The sad part is that is just the way it goes. I have been in the industry for 16 years both on the club level and pro'fessionally so I speak from experience.

Bottom line is, in real life you can't drive the way you do on the SIM to cheat so you do it with the race car. With a SIM you can not mod the car so you do it with your driving because you can get away with it. That is just the way most racers think.

Might want to double check your spelling and avoid text speak. Highly frowned upon here.

Exactly. It's what I am trying to say. IRL people do much worse things. Gotta do what you gotta do to be in front, sim or not.

Got mine from amazon, took about five days, don't go by what it says on the website about shipping, usually it's correct but sometimes it's not, call them

You are still dodging the point. You coudn't throw your car ten feet in the air and get away with it in real life, just as you couldn't put 4 off and get away it.

In fact, you have a better chance of getting away with 4-off than you do with a 10 foot flight.

Yet you are OK with the the "flying car cheat".
