Man I knew I should have took this week off it looks like the people at the top (not all) have been posting times all freaking day everyday. I hate Work!!!!!!!!!

Tell me about it. It looks like Fix was able to take some time away from his quadcopter and post some lap.

I bet I'm more miffed than you are since my pedals are 4 month old Fanatec Clubsports. They might just be too sensitive for GT5, I really wish PD would give us more controller tuning. Don't think I've seen a PC racing game that doesn't let you calibrate your own dead zones. PD has a stiff one for logitech hardware with all sorts of built in mechanical dead zones though, so I doubt that will ever happen.

Simracing.tv did a review of the porsche gt3 cup wheel and there was a feature to turn of the huge deadzone in GT5. It's somewhere on their reviews on their youtube channel. That and the clubsports sound like a great combo. Haven't tried either though.

I think its safe to say that the 370z can be pushed harder than I think, I had a hard time in this car on Cape too. I feel like the car is at its limits through a corner but I am thinking the car can go faster because I am 2 seconds back.

In all seriousness I think it has to do with some people (myself) not being able to understand what the car is doing beneath them in a game. Some of you guys know what the car is doing in the game naturally, just from your gaming experience etc. I feel like the car is being pushed to its limit through a corner then find out its I am only pushing 6/10's of what the car can do, but the sights and sound from the game tell me I am at 9/10's. I really need to spend more time just driving in this game, because I seriously feel like that's what is hurting me, not understanding what the car is doing beneath me. :(

Man, I had that problem at first, and just purchased the cars that were used and set them up as close as possible to the competition cars, and just raced in the game as much as I could on different tracks with them the first few days of the first couple of rounds, just to get a feel, and man it helped!

:) I'm rebuilding it again. Almost ready to do some nice AP shots.

Eifel scared me, I thought I wasn't going to make top 8. Not even joking. I still have at least 3-4 tenths left though so it's not so scary anymore.

I've been busy with the wife and quad and really haven't put in the time I'm used to putting in, so I'm not where I should be. I'll lower my time in the next few days though. I'd play some more tonight but I only slept 3 hours so I don't feel like it at all.

You guys have been waaaayyyy to fast for my taste. Everyone is just blindingly fast and it's scary stuff man :nervous:

Nice work everyone.

P.S. It's interesting not having replays to watch huh?

Unlike in GT5, in real life you can't just put down a lump sum of cash for a lifetime supply of "sports soft" tires.

You don't know how much I wish that were true. Tires, by far, are my biggest expense. Track fees in contrast are mostly free for me since I volunteer and instruct a lot.

I hate buying tires, if you want any type of decent performance you are spending usually 1k+ for a full weekend of tires. 👎

Race scrubs for cheap - usually you can get a nice set of tires with 75%+ tread and only a few heat cycles. John usually charges about $90-$100/tire including shipping. He's got mostly Hoosiers and Toyos since those 2 sponsor a lot of club racing events.

It's now snowing quite "aggressively" here in Oregon, and I am headed off to my buddie's house to use his DFGT to try to make it into the top 8(since my g27 is now broken), my M3 has "all season" tires on it at the moment but it has me slightly :nervous: ..

Just turn off traction control, and use the gas to steer your way to your friend's house. 👍

I am close to hanging up the towel, I have only done a few small sessions on Indy but making the top 8 in the west is going to take some dedication. I feel like my drive is missing as well because I know if I made it I am not in good enough shape to move on anyways. I told myself I wanted to see how far I could go, and I feel the chance is slim of making it through to the finals, but I don't even know if I want to push it anymore. I don't have the drive to put in all nighters like I did in round 1. I put a few 30 min sessions in and now I am kind of over it. I would at my best put in several multi-hour sessions just to reach the tale end of the top 8 if I was fortunate enough to find some extra consistency.

I have to put new brakes and suspension in my real car this week too so I am kind of just getting pre-occupied and almost not caring anymore at this point.

Question for anyone that knows, are there going to be physical challenges in Orlando or is that saved for those lucky few who go to Silverstone?

I was nervous at first for sure but I like it though. It's forced me to get creative and try different things instead of just loading up the fastest time and trying to replicate it.

New parts 👍 Putting some coil overs and drilled/slotted rotors in the M3?

No I don't have the m3 anymore. I got rid of the car and I just sold the wheels I had on it, trying to sell the coilovers.

I got a '72 Datsun 510, I am putting track suspension and bigger brakes on it this week hopefully. I was running 18x9 all around on the m3, the tires were 255 or 245 18's and were a pain to replace. The wheels were nice though, they only weighed 14lbs each which was pretty good for 18x9's. The 510 is running on 15" wheels so I will spend a lot less money on tires, and the 510 is more fun, almost a thousand pounds lighter.

When I was researching 18x8s for my car, the lightest I heard of were ~17lbs, and were crazy expensive. I ended up going with cheaper wheels (Rotas) that are 19lbs, compared to the stock wheels which as 21lbs.

They were SSR GT2H

When I went to ship them I shipped them with two wheels together, and FedEx weighed them together at 27.40lbs for each pair which actually comes out to 13.7lbs each.

That was one of the biggest differences in my car when I switched to 15" volk te37's, they weighed in around 7lbs : o

Of course that was on a type-r and is in no way relevant to what your talking about, I think I'm just bored hahaha.

949 racing rims are what im aiming for. 15x9 and soon to be made 15x10 right around 13 lbs :)

Any one else feel like their breaks from racing are whats going to cause them to fall behind lol.
